About The Role:
Responsible for measuring, threading adjusting flange fit, and facing the flange on piece of pipe. Work also includes operation of the machine and a crane to move pipe in and out of machine.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Identify fabrication requirements on the job card.
* Identify fabrication requirements written on each piece of pipe.
* Place pipe in machine, center the pipe, and tighten for work.
* After the pipe is in place, the operator will machine tapered threads into the pipe.
* During this process, the machine operator is responsible for verifying measurements, such as thread depth and correct taper.
* After the threads are cut the operator tests the flange to make sure it screws onto the pipe properly. Adjustments are made to the threads if an issue occurs.
* Applies glue on pipe and flange and uses the machine to tighten the flange onto the pipe.
* Runs the cutting tool across the surface of the flange to flush fit the flange onto the pipe.
* Remove pipe from machine and place on boards.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Good with math, able to read a tape measure and micrometer.
* Ability to understand machinery processes.

* High school diploma or equivalent desired.

* Since this is a heavy industrial environment there will be exposure to Fabrication Shop operations.
* The employee will be exposed from time to time to the following working conditions: Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust, Fumes.
* Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs.
* The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): Standing, Walking, Balancing, Stooping, Kneeling, Reaching, Talking, Seeing, Hearing, Driving and Sitting.

JOB SUMMARY:

Machinist Job Duties
From instructions, must be able to machine the part to the correct: a) Dimensions b) Tolerances c) Straightness d) MicroFinish.
Performs machine set-up as required to machine piece.
Machines piece in an efficient manner to meet the requirements of the instructions.
Uses advanced shop mathematics to determine dimensions and to set machine hand dials.
Determines speeds, feeds, number and depth of cuts depending on dimensions, tolerances, surface finished, and type material, to machine the piece in the most efficient manner.
Uses and maintains sufficient hand tools to perform required work.
Performs daily checks and maintains proper oil levels in machine.
Use assembly manuals or computer to look up parts or blueprints to be used for proper repair or assembly of machine tools and equipment.
Tear down, check for defective parts to include dimensional checking of parts and reassemble machine tools or equipment as required.
Inform supervisor when parts need replacing and retrieve parts from Central Stores or other storage areas.
Keeps machine clean and orderly.
Operates floor cranes to load and unload machines as required.
Provides training and instruction to the Apprentice(s) and to other wage jobs in their work area/department as instructed by supervision.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must have successfully completed an apprentice program in a craft classification. OR Must have successfully completed a trainee program in a machinist craft classification with four (4) years well rounded machinist experience. Experience must include at least one of the following: i.e. operating lathes, milling, honing, etc. OR Applicants who have not successfully completed a trainee program in an machinist craft classification with four (4) years well-rounded experience will be considered if they have two (2) or more years well-rounded machinist experience (i.e. operating lathes, milling, honing, etc.) in a heavy industrial environment and are willing to sign an agreement to successfully complete a modified Penn-Foster curriculum approved by the department head. OR Applicants who have successfully completed a trainee or certification program with no years of experience will be considered if they are willing to sign an agreement to successfully complete a modified Penn-Foster curriculum approved by the department head.

About The Role:
Responsible for measuring, threading adjusting flange fit, and facing the flange on piece of pipe. Work also includes operation of the machine and a crane to move pipe in and out of machine.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Identify fabrication requirements on the job card.
Identify fabrication requirements written on each piece of pipe.
Place pipe in machine, center the pipe, and tighten for work.
After the pipe is in place, the operator will machine tapered threads into the pipe.
During this process, the machine operator is responsible for verifying measurements, such as thread depth and correct taper.
After the threads are cut the operator tests the flange to make sure it screws onto the pipe properly. Adjustments are made to the threads if an issue occurs.
Applies glue on pipe and flange and uses the machine to tighten the flange onto the pipe.
Runs the cutting tool across the surface of the flange to flush fit the flange onto the pipe.
Remove pipe from machine and place on boards.

Ability to use calipers, micrometers, etc.
Mastery of basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions)

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50lbs
Specific vision abilities include close and distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, as well as reach with hands and arms for extended periods of time
