Employee-Owned Premier Countertop Company is looking for a CNC Machine Operator for our growing company in Syracuse. Full-time, Monday through Friday, year-round position with occasional overtime and room for growth!
Set up and operate machines to cut and shape stone for countertops to the size and quality needed according to specifications.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
•Examine order specifications using blueprints to determine machine adjustments and setup requirements.
•Load material on CNC machine using overhead cranes.
•Align countertops to lasers for set up of machine.
•Load job files into machine.
•Use calipers to measure thickness of stone.
•Inspect completed work pieces for defects, such as chipped edges and marred surfaces, and sort defective pieces according to defect. Verify conformance to product specifications.
•Perform minor CNC machine maintenance, such as oiling or cleaning machines, dies, or work pieces, or adding coolant to machine reservoir to maintain orderly and safe operations.
•Perform related duties as requested to meet department and or company requirements.
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
•HS diploma or equivalent.
•Experience in CNC, pro-edge or related fabrication machinery desired.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
•Ability to effectively operate and/or read measuring devices and gauges including, but not necessarily limited to, tape measure, protractor, calipers, micrometers, microhite and inspection gauges.
•Basic computer skills to scan and/or load jobs.
•Ability to accurately read and interpret blue prints to ensure proper job set-up.
•Ability to set-up and operate various power machines for the creation of custom countertops.
•Excellent attention to detail.
•Ability to select appropriate tools and equipment needed to do a job.
•Ability to follow written or oral instructions.
•Basic shop math skills.
MENTAL AND VISUAL REQUIREMENTS:
Close mental and visual attention required for controlling machines or processes at a rapid pace requiring close coordination and fine adjustment. Following fairly complex work methods or operations that obtain size, shape, or physical qualities of product.
Equipment And Machines Used:
This position requires the regular use hand and power tools, pallet jack, CNC machine.
Safety Equipment: Safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, hard hat.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to stand for extended periods of time, walk, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, sit, push, pull, lift, use fingers, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and perform repetitive motions.
Ability to exert up to 75 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

What You'll Do:
Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
Sets up and runs CNC machines by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.
Sets-up by installing and adjusting fixtures, vise jaws, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; tramming heads.

This role is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC milling machines to produce high mix, low volume precision components that meet exact specifications and quality standards.
What you'll do:
Set up and operate CNC lathe machines to produce a variety of parts and products to specification
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions
Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, and cutting parameters
Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.)
Make program edits and offsets as needed to ensure quality and efficiency
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Work collaboratively with engineering, quality, and production teams
Troubleshoot machining issues and recommend process improvements
Adhere to all safety, quality, and company standards
What we need:
Applicants should have the following skills and abilities.
Minimum five (5) years of CNC Lathe experience in a manufacturing environment required
Prior experience setting up and running NLX or Mazak Lathes preferred
Strong understanding of CNC machining principles, tooling, and materials
Ability to read and interpret complex mechanical drawings and GD&T
Experience with tight tolerances and high-precision parts
Knowledge of Feed & Speed
Experience machining stainless steel, alloy steels, and other specialty materials
Familiarity with high-mix, low-volume manufacturing
Familiarity with ISO-style quality systems
Demonstrate excellent safety practices & housekeeping
Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as part of a team
Manual machining experience and/or grind experience a plus
Willingness to work a minimum of eight hours of overtime per week on an as-needed basis during busy times

CNC Machinist Details:
