We are seeking a motivated Mold Maker to join the team at our brand-new product development facility in Plymouth, MN. This role will provide an opportunity to gain experience in all aspects of mold building and will provide opportunities for future growth, training, and development.
The primary responsibilities of this role are to build injection molds and related tools/components which are manufactured and maintained to a high degree of quality. This is an intermediate level role and will work closely with and under direction of other senior Mold Makers. The Mold Maker ensures ProMed's brand, philosophy, systems, policies, and procedures are properly implemented and observed.
Schedule: Flexible day shift hours. Shift typically starts between 4:00 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. Get out early on Fridays!
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Position duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Fabricate precision injection molds from CAD models and drawings that meet dimensional specifications and quality standards, ensuring manufacturing processes achieve required tolerances
Collaborate with senior mold makers to gain further experience with all aspects of mold building, maintenance/repairs, and injection molding
Independently set up, program, and operate multiple types of CNC machining equipment including 3 and 5-axis mills, sinker EDM, and grinders with minimal supervision, producing precise medical injection molds that meet tight tolerances
Modifies or repairs existing molds, fixtures, etc. in accordance with engineering drawings, solid models, or verbal instructions.
Conduct comprehensive quality inspections of in-process and finished mold components to ensure conformance with engineering specifications and customer requirements
Maintain machining equipment with routine preventative maintenance to ensure optimal performance and minimize production downtime
Contribute to individual and team continuous improvement activities
Observe and adhere to all safety expectations, procedures, and regulations
Ensure tool room is maintained in a clean and orderly manner daily
Other Duties as Needed: Any other duties and tasks as deemed necessary and appropriate

Required:
2 years technical or trade school degree with an emphasis on tool making or equivalent experience
A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Mold Maker building injection molds
Intermediate understanding of programming (CAM) software
Must have a high degree of skill, attention to detail, and a passion for precision
Machine setup experience with 3 or 5-axis mills, sinker EDM, and grinders
Capable with general shop measuring equipment, micrometers, calipers, gauge pins, etc.

Salary Range
The hourly salary range for this position is $34.00 - $40.00 per hour, in addition a $5 per hour shift premium for working the weekend shift. Summary of Position:
Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, this position will have direct responsibility for the set-up and manufacture of components within the Swiss machining department. TOMZ manufactures parts via high- precision metal machining, finishing, assembly, and anodizing processes for Medical Devices. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain the ISO 13485 standards documentation, set up and operate equipment, and perform visual and dimensional inspections on machined components using various precision measuring equipment.
Essential Functions:
Operate and maintain Citizen Lathes, Tsugami Lathes, Index multi-spindle lathes, 3-4-5 axis production equipment, including Robo Drills, Mill Turn, and horizontal/vertical mills.
Perform offsets and tool changes to ensure efficient production with minimal support.
Set up complex legacy components and new production orders for steady machine operation.
Conduct visual and dimensional inspections using microscopes, micrometers, calipers, pin gauges, thread gauges, comparators, Micro-Hite, CMM, and vision systems.
Perform scheduled and regular preventive maintenance on equipment.
Drive problem-solving activities for complex machine or process issues.
Complete and compile documentation related to quality inspection standards.
Ensure proper material control, identification, and traceability for conforming and nonconforming materials.
Support Quality Best Practices and contribute to continuous improvement in GDP/GMP.
Capable of mentoring and training lower-level machinists.
Facilitate a continuous improvement in culture and ensure quality and delivery objectives are met.
Utilize ERP and QMS systems to document and control inspection and traceability activities.
Maintain safe working conditions and follow occupational safety and health requirements, including PPE guidance.
Adhere to the TOMZ Quality Management System.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Experience in Class I, II, and/or III medical device manufacturing within a regulated environment using calibrated equipment and hazardous materials.
Relevant job experience in regulated manufacturing, with industry experience in aerospace, defense, or automotive.
Knowledge of and experience with GMP/ISO standards.
A self-starter capable of working independently and as part of a team, with the ability to collaborate across various functional areas, including R&D, Manufacturing, and QA, to achieve results with minimal guidance.
Advanced understanding of mechanical equipment usage, care, and inspection processes.
Ability to use hand-held tools for preventive maintenance, repairs, and tool changes.
Skilled in reading and understanding of blueprints, specifications, and procedures.

CNC Machinist - Weekend Shift (3/12's)

Our Machinists perform vertical mill machining at very close tolerances, adjust CAM programs using Gibbs CAM, machine set up and inspections of the parts they machine. Machining programs are created by our full-time programmer in Gibbs CAM but all machinists have the ability to edit their programs.
The majority of our parts are made from high performance plastic; however, machinists will also work with aluminum, 303 stainless steel and machinable ceramic. Short runs, no production work.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CNC PROGRAMMER / ADVANCED MACHINIST
As a CNC Programmer, you will be responsible for programming and operating various glass fabrication CNC machines (Intermac, Denver, CMS). You will develop new DFX (digital exchange format) programs from customer drawings and optimize existing CNC programs. There is a lot of analysis and troubleshooting to solve CNC drawing & manufacturing challenges. You will become the subject matter expert on converting drawings and fabrication requirements into processible CNC glass products. You'll be a mentor to train less experienced CNC operators and collaborate with production and sales on CNC fabricated designs.
Attention to detail and accuracy are key to success. This is a very hands-on union role where you'll program and operate the machines. Your ideas matter and will be key to continuous improvement for Minneapolis Glass.
QUALIFICATIONS
A high school diploma or equivalent required. Advanced training in Mechanical Design, Drafting or AutoCAD is preferred.
5 years of CNC programing experience required.
5 years of advanced machining and proven ability to program, set up and operate manufacturing CNC machines required.
Experience with CNC machines for glass, stone, metal or plastic materials.
Must be physically capable of performing the work, with ability to lift up to 75 lbs. unassisted and stand for 8 hours a day.
Ability to flex between a manufacturing environment and office setting.

Challenge Machine is a small contract machine shop that serves the Semiconductor, Medical and Aerospace industries. We machine a variety of smaller components made from exotic plastics and both ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
The Prototype CNC Mill Machinist (Set Up) is responsible for machining of parts to meet customer specification and maintain a high level of quality.
Prototype CNC Mill Machinist Responsibilities:
Set up and run CNC mill to machine parts to customer supplied print/specifications.
Follows Gibbs CAM program for machining operations and tooling requirements.
Make adjustments to program and machine as necessary in order to meet print.
Inspect parts for conformance to specifications.
Conducting physical first article inspection at machining station.
Follows ISO and 6S procedures.
Communicate shop needs to management.

High School diploma or equivalent education required. Certificate in machine shop technology or machine tool technology/machinist preferred.
Minimum of 2 years manufacturing experience.
Minimum of 1 year of general machine operating experience.
Knowledge of operations including drilling, boring and milling etc. employing recognized tooling and procedures and where tolerances are close, but not difficult to maintain is required.
Ability to work from programming instructions, operational data and machine setup instructions defining and coding tool arrangements, material clamping methods, machine calibrations and console settings, for operations such as bore, mill, drill, face, thread and occasional profiling contouring.
