Responsibilities:
Works with computer numericcontrolled (CNC) heavy machinery from setup to operation to produce parts and tools from metal. May operate other machinery to include horizontal boringmill and CNC vertical and horizontal lathes.
Performs layouts, sets up, machine tools as required.
Review blueprints, drawings, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of part/product, sequence of operations and/or set up requirements.
Reads and interprets all drawings, including geometric dimensioning and tolerance.
Measure, mark and otherwise indicate the dimensions and reference points on the part or material to be used as guides for subsequent machining.
Select, align and secure the holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials on machines to include mills, lathes and grinders.
Calculate and set controls to regulate various machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow and depth and angle of cut.
Start and observe machine operation to detect any malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust the machine controls as necessary.
Verify conformance of finished part to ensure that it meets specifications.
Improves methods for higher quality and improved costs.
Assist maintenance in diagnosis, repair, and preventative maintenance.
Adheres to company and departmental policies, procedures, and standards.
Performs other duties within his/her capabilities as determined by management.
Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.

Schedule/Shift Details: 2nd shift (4:30PM-3AM) Monday-Thursday with some Saturdays, as needed! TRAIN ON FIRST SHIFT 6:00 am to 4:30 pm
Qualifications:
High School graduate or equivalent
2+ years experience
Must be able to speak and understand English.
Completion of a machinist apprentice program or equivalent training
Programing is a plus
Familiarity with Mori Seki, Okuma and Haas machines a plus.
Ability to hold close tolerances and conduct component inspections.
Demonstrated ability to effectively set up and operate all or at least most, of the machines.
Ability to perform with a minimum of direct supervision.
Working knowledge of tool geometry and application.
Working knowledge of effects of feeds and speeds.
Willingness to work in a team environment

Qualifications/Requirements
5+ Years of setup and operation experience on CNC Swiss Machine (Citizen preferred)
Ability to read and comprehend blueprints (including GD&T features such as true position and profile of a surface)
Ability to manipulate G-Code programs, change work offsets, and adjust tool offsets
Ability to change, touch-off, and indicate tools for CNC Swiss Machines
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Ability to stand and walk up to 90% of the day
Ability to bend, twist, turn, and reach up to 100% of the day
Ability to work in a shop environment - continuous exposure to potentially hazardous metal working machinery and equipment, loud noises, dust, mist, oils and solvents.
Be punctual and maintain an excellent attendance record

Key Responsibilities:
Operate robotic machinery and equipment, performing tasks such as loading materials, program setting, and execution of operational sequences. Conduct regular maintenance checks and basic troubleshooting to ensure equipment is in optimal working condition.
Monitor production processes to ensure adherence to quality standards. Identify and report any product defects or machinery malfunctions to the supervisor.

Maintain accurate records of production data, including quantities, times, and any issues encountered. Assist in the preparation of reports on production performance and machine efficiency.

About The Role
Amsted Automotive, located in Geneva, IL, is looking for a CNC Lathe Operator to join our Powder Metal Operations team on 2nd shift (2:30 PM - 11:00 PM). This is a great opportunity to be part of an innovative company with strong growth and career potential.
What You Will Do
Perform duties to operate one type of machine. Work from instructions, prints and process specifications.
Process quality parts to process specifications on assigned machines.
Change perishable tooling and/or make necessary adjustments on all assigned machines.
Use calibrated gauges to properly check and record production on specific tolerances as required by process documentation.
Use required in-process control methods as required by process documentation to monitor and maintain process quality.
Control and mark products correctly.
Monitor production runs for correct part processing.
Perform necessary recordkeeping and paperwork.
Help train and assist operators as required.
Seek help if problems arise and ask questions if you don't understand.
Perform necessary preventative maintenance on machines as required.
Participate in team problem solving as part of the departmental continuous improvement process.
Use various testing devices, chemicals and material moving equipment according to appropriate guidelines and procedures.
Follow all safety rules and keep work area clean and in an orderly condition.
Wear all personal protective equipment as required by the safety policy.
Be responsible and accountable for the professional use of assigned work periods, machinery, equipment and tools.
Support and participate in the departmental structure of self-directed work teams.
Understand and perform to the BN Quality Policy taking pride in the products produced.

We're looking for a skilled and experienced CNC Machine Setup Level II to join our team. This person will be responsible for setting up complex parts from start to finish on CNC machines and supporting daily production through tool changes, machine changeovers, and routine maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up complex parts on CNC machines (multi-axis lathes, Swiss-type lathes, vertical machining centers)
Perform tool changes, changeovers, and routine machine maintenance
Follow safety standards at all times (PPE, lifting techniques, safe chip handling, etc.)
Keep a clean and organized work area (toolbox, machines, gage tables, etc.)
Log setup and tool change times accurately using data collection terminals
Read and interpret complex blueprints and geometric tolerances
Select appropriate tooling from vending machines and tool cribs
Follow and complete setup instructions, tool layouts, and checklists
Conduct visual inspections and complete 1st article inspections to verify part quality
Perform minor program edits (tool locations, speeds/feeds) under supervision
Change stick tools, drills, boring bars, reamers, knurls (live and static tools)
Collaborate with engineering to optimize speeds, feeds, and cycle times
Mentor and support junior machinists and operators
Complete all job-related documentation accurately
Suggest process improvements and machining best practices
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
8-10 years of precision CNC machine setup experience in a machine shop environment
Strong experience with measuring instruments and quality inspections
Proficiency with multi-axis CNC lathes, Swiss-type machines, and machining centers
Ability to write CNC programs using CAM software
Deep understanding of tooling, tool holders, inserts, and machine controls
Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude
Ability to work independently and in a team within a fast-paced environment
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Reliable and consistent attendance is a must
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience mentoring others in a shop environment
Familiarity with setup optimization and process improvement initiatives
