The Hydrovac Operator will be responsible for the operation of hydrovac equipment to perform non-destructive excavation around underground utilities and pipelines. MAIN FUNCTIONS: Under the direction of a Rig Manager, the Rig Operator organizes the rig crew (Floor Hands and Derrick Hands), conducts Job Safety Meetings, delegates the collection of materials and equipment needed to perform the contracted services, drives the Rig to the work site, operates the rig and equipment and directs the crew to set-up and prepare the rig for the tasks to be performed. Position serves as a working foreman in operations, laboratory analysis, maintenance and repair of the wastewater treatment facilities and the collection system. This position has been classified as a safety sensitive position and is subject to our drug testing policy to include pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion and post-accident for the following prohibited substances: marijuana, amphetamines, opioids, phencyclidine (PCP), and cocaine, as well as any drug not approved for medical use by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration or the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. * Directs and coordinates the daily activities of employees engaged in the construction, maintenance, and repair of wastewater collection system and treatment facility under the direction of the superintendent. * Assists the superintendent in the preparation of an annual budget for the wastewater division. * Provides both written and verbal reports to the superintendent. * Maintains records for efficient facility operation and to comply with state and federal regulations. * Inspects work in progress by subordinates to assure it is being done properly. * Confers and corresponds with citizens and interested parties to answer complaints and to explain plans and activities. * Trains employees in the wastewater division. * Takes samples, conducts tests, and monitors records, charts, and equipment taking corrective actions as necessary to comply with control and discharge requirements. * Develops and maintains wastewater treatment plant landscaping and farm operations. * Supervises the maintenance of equipment, buildings, and grounds in a clean and orderly manner. * Analyses and evaluates wastewater division operations and maintenance functions. * Keeps current and up-to-date operating and maintenance manuals governing the entire wastewater division. * Participates with the superintendent and director in the development of wastewater policy changes and modifications. * Performs all duties assigned to lower level operators when deemed necessary by the superintendent to maintain operational compliance. Minimum Qualifications * High school diploma or GED * Five (5) years' experience in wastewater collection and treatment; or equivalent. * Experience in activated sludge treatment is preferred. Licenses and Certificates * Valid New Mexico Commercial Drivers' license including the appropriate endorsements or be able to obtain within 6 months * Experience in activated sludge treatment is preferred * Must have or be able to obtain within a twelve (12) month period or the next available testing date a Level IV Operators Certification of New Mexico. Full-time Description Duties/ Responsibilities: Simultaneously runs a minimum of two primary machines; responsible for quality and quantity of products being manufactured; demonstrates ability to proficiently operate multiple primary machines. Performs all material handling duties required to keep a job productive; safely retrieves materials and returns the unused coil/wire stock to the storage areas using an electric hand-cart or fork truck. Operates stamping press and other machinery in a safe manner. Maintains excellent housekeeping practices. Maintains 6S (sort, set, shine, standardize, sustain, safety) standards in all work stations.
