Responsibilities: Sets up and operates a variety of machine tools such as manual lathes, manual mills, CNC mills and precision grinders to make metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions without supervision. Serves as a resource to others in the resolution of problems and issues regarding machining. Work closely with engineers, designers, and project managers to resolve issues, refine designs for manufacturability, and meet production deadlines. Responsible for quality of the product by performing both in-process and final part inspections using a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, and CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) Perform routine machine maintenance to avoid downtime and ensure optimal performance. Proficiency with CNC Mills and machine programming software (example Mastercam, CAMworks, etc.) Must have experience running manual machines and performing set-ups. Ability to read (English) and interpret production specifications, production diagrams, assembly drawings, and technical specifications including GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) standards to ensure dimensional accuracy. Experience in following written set-up instructions and /or performing unique set-ups Experience fabricating component parts where set-ups are non-routine and tolerances are difficult to acquire and maintain Able to communicate clearly and professionally with individuals inside and outside the organization. Able to work in a standing position for extended time periods Experience in complex measurements and advanced shop math calculations relative to tolerances, dimensions, tooling, and feeds and speeds Strong attention to detail and accuracy Able to lift or move a minimum of 35 -50 lbs. for up to 12 hours per day; pushing or pulling 35 -50+ lbs. occasionally throughout the workday Must be a U.S. citizen Preferred Qualifications for Machinist Level 4 Experience with Fanuc and HAAS Controllers preferred. Primary Level Salary Range: $72,600.00 - $121,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
