This role focuses on creating efficient and accurate CNC programs for a vertical mill, working primarily with aluminum components and ensuring parts meet all drawing and tolerance requirements. While hands-on machining knowledge is essential, this role is strictly programming.
Responsibilities:
Create CNC programs for vertical machining centers using CAM software (preferably Fusion 360)
Develop tool paths and select tooling appropriate for material, geometry, and tolerance requirements
Generate setup sheets and provide clear instructions for operators
Collaborate with shop personnel to validate first-article runs and improve existing programs
Interpret and work from engineering drawings and technical specifications
Maintain organized records of programs, revisions, and related documentation
Qualifications:
Proven experience programming for CNC vertical milling machines
Familiarity with Fusion 360 or similar CAM software strongly preferred
Solid understanding of machining principles and cutting parameters, especially for aluminum
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
Strong math skills and mechanical aptitude
Detail-oriented, organized, and reliable

• Must be able to use tools, equipment, and work aids, such as precision gauges and measuring instruments to determine the quality of a part or program.
• Demonstrated competency in various materials, tooling and processes.
• Have excellent mechanical and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, team environment.
• Must be able to gather information on job processes and report back to management with process improvements.
• Must possess strong math skills in algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
• Must possess advanced manual programming and advanced blueprint reading skills, including GD&T.
• Technical School certificate/degree preferred.
Physical Requirements:
• Lifting up to 50lbs, including bending, twisting, crouching, etc.
• Must be able to stand for 10 hour work shift
