An Oiler assists the Watch Engineer in operating, maintaining, and repairing the dredge's machinery.

Essential Job Functions

* Routinely makes rounds and complete logs accurately and clearly
* Reports any unusual machinery operation, noise, or vibration to the engineer
* Keep the bilges pumped down
* Clean up excess oil from around the machinery
* Keep oil pressures and temperatures within limits
* Keeps all fluid levels at their proper state
* Take soundings for the storage tanks, as directed
* Check all motors, bearing pumps, and glands for overheating
* Clean engines spaces and properly dispose of waste materials
* Grease machinery as directed
* Follow the Preventative Maintenance Schedule as directed

Summary:

Polar Tankers Overview

Polar Tankers, a wholly owned subsidiary of ConocoPhillips, provides marine transportation for North Slope production, using five company-owned, double-hulled tankers in addition to chartering third-party vessels as necessary. The tankers deliver oil from Valdez, Alaska, to refineries primarily on the West Coast of the United States. The company operates five Endeavor-class tankers: Polar Endeavor, Polar Resolution, Polar Discovery, Polar Adventure and Polar Enterprise.

Description

If you are selected as the Offshore Oiler, you will be working under the direction of the First Assistant Engineer and the Junior Engineer. The Oiler must have a good understanding of all Engine room machinery and auxiliary systems to assist in recognizing trends, assisting with plant operations and troubleshooting, and responding to casualties. The Oiler is required to participate in all drills and emergencies and to assist with the enforcement of rules, procedures, regulations, and pollution prevention. In addition, the Oiler performs routine maintenance and assists engineers with repairs of shipboard machinery and is also responsible for making good rounds of the equipment, recording pressure and temperature readings, and reporting any anomalies.

This is a Safety Sensitive position.

Relocation is not available for this position.

Your responsibilities may include:

* Monitoring equipment and performing maintenance
* Cleaning main engine scavenge air box
* Cleaning lube and fuel oil purifiers and filters
* Tank soundings and topping off tanks as directed
* After being trained, assisting with crane and rigging operations
* Cleaning deck, engine room, and living spaces as required
* Performing general maintenance on all equipment
* Chipping, scraping, and painting equipment and structures
* Lubricating / greasing machinery
* Typically works 12-hour days (includes 4 hours of overtime)

Basic/Required:

* Must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or national, or an alien admitted as a permanent resident, refugee or asylee
