The Opportunity
ERA is looking for an Attorney/Counsel with proven litigation experience in employment law and in the civil rights space. As a Senior Counsel or Senior Staff Attorney, you will be responsible for engaging in all aspects of impact and individual litigation, developing new cases for litigation, assisting in crafting litigation strategy, drafting and reviewing amicus briefs, and developing and maintaining litigation relationships to advance ERA's mission. You may also be involved in defending against threats to the civil rights of workers and students. The Senior Counsel or Senior Staff Attorney will report to ERA's Director of Litigation.
Primary Responsibilities
Conduct cutting-edge impact and individual litigation, including legal research; investigating facts, working with clients; drafting pleadings, briefs and legal memoranda; engaging in discovery and motion practice; and conducting evidentiary hearings and oral arguments in court.
Identify and develop new matters for litigation by conducting factual, legal and strategic analyses and formulating relevant theories and materials.
Draft amicus briefs and review amicus briefs drafted by others for possible ERA involvement.
Develop collaborative partnerships with other advocacy groups, legal services providers, plaintiffs' attorneys, law firms, and other partners by participating in task forces and coalitions, attending conferences, and co-counseling lawsuits.
Provide legal and strategy analysis, technical assistance, and thought leadership on substantive issues related to ERA's mission to attorneys, government agencies, officials and staff, the media, worker and student organizations, and grassroots advocates when called upon by ERA leadership, departments, and programs.
Assist in supervision of law student interns and provide occasional assistance to attorney fellow, as needed.
Review public-facing legal training materials, resources, self-help tools, and “Know Your Rights” materials.
Work closely with ERA's legal and non-legal program staff to develop and implement communication strategies that promote and magnify the impact of ERA's legal work.
Assist ERA's development team in drafting applications or reporting on grants that support the organization's legal work, as needed.
Occasional travel, as needed, for litigation, meetings, conferences, and other advocacy or professional development activities.
Engage in special projects and other duties as assigned by ERA supervisory staff.
Candidate Profile
Required Qualifications:
J.D. and at least one active bar membership;
A minimum of four (4) years of post-J.D. litigation experience, including drafting case documents and engaging in discovery and motions practice, including at least 3 years of experience litigating employment discrimination cases;
Demonstrated commitment to social, gender, and racial justice with a passion for achieving equity and economic justice for women, girls, and/or LGBTQI+ people;
Outstanding research, writing, and analytical skills;
Proven ability to work independently as well as within a team;
Excellent verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills, including the ability to give and receive feedback and resolve conflicts constructively;
Ability to travel to ERA's headquarters in San Francisco three or four times per year, if working remotely, and to travel occasionally as needed for litigation, meetings or conferences.
The ideal candidate will have most, if not all, of the following professional and personal skills and attributes:
Experience engaging in legal advocacy on subjects related to ERA's mission, such as defending and expanding employment and education-related civil rights, protecting and advancing women's economic security, racial justice or immigrant rights, and/or combating gender-based violence;
Experience collaborating with progressive nonprofit organizations and/or plaintiff-side employment lawyers;
Experience working directly with clients from diverse backgrounds and populations, including communities of color, low-wage workers, immigrants, and/or LGBTQI+ individuals;
A high degree of self-motivation and initiative, with the ability to juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines under time pressure;
Experience working on a team and setting and fostering a collaborative approach to case work and other advocacy efforts;
Experience with policy advocacy and/or communications work related to litigation preferred but not required.

Compensation & Benefits
This position has a salary range of $85,000 - $125,000. The salary and job title (Senior Staff Attorney vs. Senior Counsel) will be determined based on years of experience and expertise.

For attorneys located in the Bay Area in California, the position is a hybrid position, requiring 2 days per week in the San Francisco office. Responsibilities
* Grant and Contract Coordination - Responsible for drafting of grant agreement and contracts with consultants and other country offices. May monitor expense reports against budget, seeking explanations for significant variations.
* Team strategy - Works closely with EFL SVP, VP and EA to take forward the team strategy, including helping to drive collaborative processes intended to improve team integration and performance and communication and collaboration.
* Document review and preparation - Regularly composes correspondence and program materials including complex documents such as internal quarterly reports and presentations using PowerPoint, ensuring accuracy of content.

You will complete certifications from Dell and Lenovo as part of your onboarding. Certifications are online and free to you.

You must have access to a computer and the Internet to log onto your portal each day.

The Delivering Innovation in Self-Care project (DISC), supports PSI's vision to reimagine healthcare by increasing awareness, availability, and access to contraceptive self-care methods like self-injection that give women greater power and control over their sexual and reproductive health. In partnership with Ministries of Health, healthcare provider networks, and other key stakeholders, DISC is integrating self-care methods into health systems, bringing care closer to consumers, and amplifying their voice, choice, and agency. The DISC project is expanding geographical presence by scaling DISC high impact practices through partnerships in existing countries (Uganda, Nigeria, Malawi) as well as expanding into new countries (Zambia, Mozambique, Kenya, Pakistan, and Ethiopia).
To support this scale-up, PSI seeks an Advisor I, Monitoring, who will support the monitoring functions of the DISC project scale-up across existing and new countries. This includes supporting the implementation of activities to strengthen the generation and use of high-quality routine data, driving program performance in line with PSI and global best practices. The Advisor I, Monitoring will work closely with project monitoring staff based in implementation countries, as well as the DISC project global M&E and dashboard teams to ensure timely and accurate reporting and visualization of monthly data and analytics. The Advisor may increasingly be involved in the design of monitoring and digital health activities of multiple regions. May contribute to internal capacity building efforts across the PSI network.

Identifies and promulgates U.S. public policy positions on key issues that will accelerate the elimination of pediatric AIDS.

The intern will report to a Senior Counsel on the RRH team as primary supervisor but will receive assignments from various members of the RRH team.
Compensation & Benefits
The intern will be paid an hourly rate of $17.95 per hour. This position is not eligible for benefits. If funding is available through the intern's school, the payment contribution from NWLC will be adjusted accordingly.
Classification
This position is not included in the union-represented bargaining unit, NWLC United, affiliated with the Nonprofit Professional Employees Union/IFPTE Local 70.

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Inclusion/Wellness Specialist (I/WS) will work with all partner sites and families to develop and implement individualized behavior plans for children ages birth to three and individualized classroom interventions. Reporting to the Comprehensive Services Manager, the I/WS will support students with challenging behavior and/or social emotional delays to access Educare DC's high-quality language enriched curriculum. By collaborating with teachers of students who exhibit differing learning, mental, and emotional abilities, the Inclusion/Wellness Specialist plays an essential role in Educare DC's overall model of academic excellence for at risk children and their families. This position will focus on designing inclusive early learning experiences by adapting general education experiences and teaching skills, such as self-regulation and communication techniques, while establishing a developmentally appropriate classroom environment favorable to the development and personal growth of all children. The I/WS will be responsible for implementing all program requirements while adhering to program regulations. An essential component of the specialist's position is the ability to communicate and work with families to support the development of their child with behavior challenges. The I/WS position will require direct interventions for children (0-3) that need individual support, coach classroom staff and directors on appropriate interventions, and monitor appropriate implementation of classroom interventions for children with social emotional concerns (0-3). Caseload quantity depends on student need and enrollment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide an adapted, evidence-based curriculum focused on social/emotional development and support children's ideas, initiatives, and creativity.
Coach teachers in developing, selecting, and modifying instructional materials and plans to meet the social emotional needs of all children with a wide range of mental and emotional maturities.
Provide direct in-class modeling of best instructional practices for students with special needs and delays.
Consult with classroom teachers on embedding social emotional practices in individual and small-group instruction, ensuring that teachers are maintaining appropriate classroom climate to establish and reinforce acceptable child behavior, attitudes, and social skills.
Develop and implement individualized interventions and student accommodation requirements based on the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP); collaborate with teachers on implementation of behavior plans.
Review classroom and child data, develop an action plan, support goal achievement through active collaboration for children with special needs.
Provide examples of accommodations, interventions, and modifications for children with social emotional developmental delays, including using the RTI (Response to Intervention) process as appropriate for students who may not currently have a diagnosed disability.
Assessment:
Provide individual ongoing observations and assess the social skills of children in various settings.
Observe classrooms to determine staffs' implementation of a healthy nurturing environment specifically documenting atypical behaviors.
Participate in Family Child Service Reviews for children on caseload.
Complete documentation of incidents in the child's file.
Assure that files are complete, accurate, and confidentially maintained.
Utilize observation data to complete Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP); Collect anecdotal notes and portfolio items to assess development.
Participate in Family Child Reviews and Individualized Family Service Plan meetings.
Participate in the local evaluation and national Educare Implementation Study, review data, and offer feedback on utilization for individualized planning for children and families.
Home-School Connection:
Assist in parent-teacher conferences and home visits at least twice a year.
Develop activities for parents that promote parent participation and involvement in their child's mental health and social emotional development.
Collaborate with the Family Engagement staff to promote family goals and support with referral process to local resources when necessary.
Attend determination meetings for students who have been referred and IFSP meetings for students who have diagnoses.
Communicate regularly with parents by means of parent meetings, home visits, trainings, and individual parent consultation.
Interdisciplinary Duties:
Collaborate with the Comprehensive Health Services Team and other professional staff members in assessing and helping solve children's health and learning challenges.
Collaborate with the Family Engagement Specialists, and other Educare DC personnel and support staff to promote individual children's goals relating to social emotional development and the referral process.
Collaboratively work with Partner Coaches, Instructional Coaches, and Teachers to develop a functional behavior assessment and behavior intervention plan for students with atypical behaviors.
In cooperation with other staff, carry out routine duties such as toileting, hand washing, cleanup, and supervision of children at all times, including outdoor play.
EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES
Bachelor's degree in early childhood education (ECE) with specialized training in special education or psychology or a related field or a related certification. Master's degree preferred.
Proven ability to recognize how culture, urban settings, racial and economic disparities impact education and child development.
Demonstrated success in creating Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA), Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP), Individual Education Plans and Individual Family Service Plans.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Act as customer service representative for the editorial office Answer main telephone line for editorial office. Respond to author and reviewer queries; screen and route calls for other staff members. Monitor the email accounts for all American Psychiatric Association's (APA) journals. All emails will be answered and/or addressed within one business day. Prepare Editor to-do lists. Create regular emails for the Editors that include the following information: new manuscripts just added to the Editor's box, manuscripts that need additional reviewers and manuscripts ready for the Editor's decision. Create weekly decision report. Compile a report of all decisions submitted during the week for the Editor's final review and approval.
Monitor peer review progress. Thoroughly check all submitted papers to ensure adherence to submission requirements. Determine editor assignments for journals with multiple decision editors, invite reviewers from Editor recommendations and monitor invitation accepts/declines. Review queues for each journal to make papers move through the process in a timely manner and that no paper is unknowingly stalled in the process. Process accepted manuscripts. Transfer manuscripts from one APA journal to another. Ensure smooth article transfer from one title to another by taking all relevant information from submission's peer review experience at one journal and replicating it as a new submission requiring a publication decision at the transferee journal.
Assist in maintaining the manuscript tracking database by adding suggested reviewers as permanent potential reviewers in the database, merging of duplicate user accounts, updating keywords and keeping user contact information up to date. Monitor bounce-back “message undeliverable” notices to determine when user accounts need to be updated with current email addresses. Perform internet searches to locate current emails for registered users.
Coordinate Book Forum. Send invitations to potential book reviewers. Follow-up with reviewers on the status of their book reviews.
Obtain permission for use of borrowed material in APA publications. Secure pdfs for articles that are being produced. Assist with the compilation of abstracts that are being reproduced.
Various administrative duties as assigned. On occasion we do solicit editorial or other special submissions from thought leaders and as a courtesy upload their submission on their behalf. This would involve proxying as all individuals in the process, uploading the paper as the author and then accepting it as the Editor. Each year for each publication a report is run listing all the individuals submitting a review over a 12-month period. This list is then checked for completeness (degrees, full names) so that it can be handed over to production for publishing in an end-of-year expression of thanks.
