UH: Operating Room - Part-Time (40 hours per pay period), Weekend Shift Job Summary: The Perioperative Technician-OR performs designated direct and indirect patient care activities under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN). Completes case carts and prepares the operating room (OR) rooms with supplies, instruments, and equipment. Assists the surgical team. Restocks supplies and maintains inventory. Responsibilities * Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization. * Function as a scrub person during operative and other invasive procedures by assembling supplies and equipment required for the procedure; * Preparing and organizing sterile supplies and instruments for the procedure; * Performing accounting procedures in concert with the RN circulator; * Assisting with placement of sterile drapes; * Providing instruments and supplies to the surgical team during the procedure; * Maintaining an organized sterile field; * Ensuring sterility of the field and taking corrective actions as needed; and * Preparing sterile dressings. * Clean and prepare surgical instruments for processing and transport them to the decontamination areas. * Assist with post procedure cleaning of the operative or other invasive procedure room and preparation of room for subsequent patients. * Participate in ongoing educational and competency verification activities applicable to scrub person activities. * Maintain privacy and confidentiality of individuals and health information. * Working irregular hours including call hours. Under the direction of the Emergency Department director manager, charge nurse, and staff nurses this position requires the ability to be self-directed and encompasses providing direct supportive care to patients by performing designated and/or ordered interventions and procedures within the scope of practice. Knowledge and Skills: Able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing. Able to work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment, effectively managing, prioritizing, and completing work assignments and other duties as assigned. Above average computer skills. License and Certifications: Certification as an emergency medical technician (EMT), nursing assistant (CNA), or medical assistant (CMA) is required. Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS card is required. CPI required within six months of hire or transfer. Equipment: Computer, Monitoring Equipment, POC Testing Equipment. Certified Surgical Tech for busy Multi-Specialty ASC JOB TITLE: Surgical Technologist Surgical technologists, also called scrubs and surgical or operating room technicians, assist in surgical operations under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses, or other surgical personnel. Surgical technologists are members of operating room teams, which most commonly include surgeons, anesthesiologists, and circulating nurses. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS: A graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program 2 years' Ortho and Urology experience required; preferably joints ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Prepares and maintains medical equipment for surgical procedures. Before an operation, surgical technologists help prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments and equipment, sterile drapes, and sterile solutions. Follows hospital regulations and industry procedures to tend to patient during pre-operation procedures. Performs pre-operation preparations to the patient's skin, body and medical equipment. Assemble both sterile and non-sterile equipment, as well as adjust and check it to ensure it is working properly. Get patients ready for surgery by washing, shaving, and disinfecting incision sites. Transport patients to the operating room, help position them on the operating table, and cover them with sterile surgical “drapes.” Observe patients' vital signs, check charts, and assist the surgical team with putting on sterile gowns and gloves. Pass instruments and other sterile supplies to surgeons and surgeon assistants. Hold retractors, cut sutures, and help count sponges, needles, supplies, and instruments. Help prepare, care for, and dispose of specimens taken for laboratory analysis and help apply dressings. Operate sterilizers, lights, or suction machines, and help operate diagnostic equipment.
