Responsibilities
The Women's Services Surgical Technologist functions as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide family-centered patient care across Women's services units including labor and delivery, family birth centers, and newborn nurseries. This individual assists at the surgical field passing instruments and supplies to other members of the surgical team. Participates in preparing and equipping the surgical suites, and maintains sterile technique while providing supplies and instruments for various procedures. Provides basic patient care and unit support under the direct supervision of an RN. This role performs a broad range of tasks essential to safe and efficient patient care, but not requiring RN level licensure or skills.
Qualifications
Experience:
1 year Surgical Technologist experience preferred. Women's Services experience preferred.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technologist program or completion of a military training program for surgical technologists.

Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager or designate, assists in the care of patient and surgical activities in the Birthplace under the immediate supervision of a Registered Nurse. This is a dual PCA/Surgical Tech role. CNA, PCA or MA experience preferred.
Qualifications
* Prior C.N.A, PCA or Medical Assisting experience preferred.
High level of concentration and attention to detail is required. Must be able to deal with different types of personalities and people with different cultural backgrounds and ages.
* 1 year experience in an acute care setting preferred.
* Has successfully completed an accredited educational program for surgical technologists AND is certified as a surgical technologist accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies and the American College of Surgeons and the Association of Surgical Technologists; if certification as a surgical technologist has not be obtained as of the date of hire, the certification will be obtained within 12 months of the graduation date from the educational program OR was employed as a surgical technologist in a surgical facility on or before July 1, 2013; OR has completed a surgical technologist training program in the military or other public service corps. -

Assists with appropriate measures in emergency situations.
Works in conjunction with Circulator in preparation for the next scheduled case.
Initiates and facilitates room turnovers: Light housekeeping duties, procurement of equipment, supplies and X-Rays. Restocking of unused supplies and equipment. Participates in the reprocessing process.
Education
Graduate of an accredited School of Surgical Technology. License, Certification, Registration Basic Life Support required at hire

Additional Requirements:
Knowledge of sterile core area.
Knowledge of sterile technique; operating room procedures and equipment; dexterity with hands; effective relationships with people; ability to exercise good judgment and discipline.
Able to follow instruction.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two (2) to five (5) years of scrubbing experience in all surgical procedures in inpatient or ambulatory O.R. setting.
Ability to rotate through sterile core area.
