Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 327-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus as well as at 10 Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.
FLSA Status Nonexempt Job Role Summary The Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) is an individual with specialized education who handles instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary for surgical procedures; has an understanding of the procedures being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon; has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative phase; and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field.
This position is Burn Unit Operating Room specific, Monday-Friday, no holidays, no on call, no weekends.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities • Performs assigned surgical procedures and preparations in conjunction with the activities of the total surgical team • Maintains sterile technique/environment • Prepares operating room for surgical procedures with appropriate supplies, equipment, and instrumentation for each assigned case • Ensures sterility of instruments and supplies • Prepares/maintains/labels medication on the sterile field accurately • Provides for appropriate handling/labeling/disposition of surgical specimens • Performs appropriate counts with circulating nurse as required by policy • Assists with patient positioning and positioning devices, and providing patient comfort measures • Gowns and gloves self and other sterile personnel • Prepares/maintains sterile field and drapes for procedures • Handles, cares for, cleans, and passes instruments • Assists/holds retractors or instruments as directed by the surgeon • Accounts for all instrumentation • Cleans and stocks room Job Requirements Current CST certification through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
New graduates must obtain CST certification within 45 days of their start date.
CSTs must complete continuing education credits for AST and NBSTSA recertification every 2-years Annual CEU's Current BLS certification Member of Association of Surgical Technologists (AST)(preferred) Knowledge, Skills & Abilities • Skills in the use of sterilization equipment, highly technical surgical equipment, and accurate use and care of instrumentation • Knowledge and application of anatomy/physiology as it applies to surgical procedures • Knowledge of instruments/supplies/equipment required for surgical procedures • Ability to identify/apply principles of asepsis, disinfection, sterilization, and environmental control • Maintains empathetic attitude toward patients • Practices with an advanced level of experience with proficient to expert knowledge of all specialty services • Ability to make sound decisions during highly stressful situations, anticipate/prioritize to maintain proficient performance • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written • Ability to follow exact specifications, and oral/written instructions • Ability to concentrate and exhibit continuous attention/perception during surgery-related tasks • Knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served.

The Surgical Scrub Technician assists the surgeon and nursing staff in rendering professional care to patients undergoing surgical procedures within the surgical center in accordance with established guidelines.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Prepare operating room, ensuring that all of the equipment needed for the procedure is properly disinfected and assembled; and check to ensure equipment is in working order.
Assist surgeon and surgical staff during procedure by passing sterile instruments, supplies, sutures as needed and in such a manner so that their attention is not diverted from the operative field.
Observe strict aseptic technique throughout the entire procedure and reports breaks in technique to the circulating nurse and surgeon.
Isolate soiled or contaminated instruments and supplies to minimize the spread of infection.
Receive specimen and prepare it for laboratory.
Clean and restocking operating room following each procedure.
Maintain inventory of surgical supplies.
Perform other duties and assume various responsibilities as determined by the Director of Nursing and Doctor(s).
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school graduate or equivalent.
Current certification in Cardiac Life Support is required.
Completion of Surgical Technician training program and minimum of one year related work experience in operating room is required. Any equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience that fulfills the requirements of the position will be considered.
Current Surgical Technology certification.
Membership in surgical specialty society encouraged.

Builds knowledge of dealer supported product lines, service standards, and procedures and keeps abreast of all changes in various models of equipment sold and serviced by the distributor.
Perform work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with Service shop and Factory standards.
Vehicle inspection including factory warranty repairs, computer diagnostics and programming.
Attend local, regional, and national service schools and training sessions as requested.
Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment not only in shop but also at customer sites.
Utilize various equipment and tools to include, but not limited to hand tools, power tools, testing/diagnostic equipment, cranes and hoists.
Foster close, positive working relationships with all service, parts and administrative personnel.

Essential Qualifications:
2-year Diesel Technician/Mechanic degree or equivalent experience.
Minimum 3 years working in a full-time technician/mechanic role on heavy duty chassis.
Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
Hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical experience
Welding/cutting torch experience
Excellent skills in communication, interpersonal, organizational and attention to detail
Working usage of MS Office Suite and the ability to learn new technologies quickly.

FLSA Status Non-Exempt Job Role Summary The Patient Care Technician is responsible for providing a variety of services to patients and families in support of the assigned unit as part of the patient care team under the supervision of the RN.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities • Provides for various patient needs in support of the patient care team: takes vital signs, pain assessment, monitors accuchecks, measures patients' weight and height, performs EKGs • May assist or provide for patient hygiene needs, provide bed linen changes, assist with dressing changes, measure intake and output, draw blood and submit proper requisitions, perform Foley and ostomy care, remove peripherally inserted vascular access (PIV), don sterile gloves utilizing aseptic technique, provide for the nourishment needs of the patient including the correct selection of food according to the patients' dietary orders, assist with feeding patients, reinforce patient mental orientation to person, place and time, recognize distress and/or changes in patient condition and responds and reports to RN promptly and appropriately • If working as a close observer, provides constant observation, observes and reports changes in patient behavior or condition to the RN, and, if applicable, follows nursing policy on Suicide Precautions to include remaining at arm's length of patient at all times, removing unnecessary or dangerous items from patient room, and documenting on patient every fifteen minutes • Completes appropriate area-specific documentation in EPIC to include vital sign flow sheet, restraints, intake and output, use of pain scale, skin care assessment, hygiene, ADLs, and calorie count • Supports the safe transfer and transport of patients in an efficient manner to include the proper use of wheelchairs, carts, stretchers, and mechanical lifts and uses proper body mechanics to lift patients onto the equipment.

The Surgical Scrub Technician assists the surgeon and nursing staff in rendering professional care to patients undergoing surgical procedures within the surgical center in accordance with established guidelines.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Hold a current Scrub Technician Certification.
Prepare operating room, ensuring that all of the equipment needed for the procedure is properly disinfected and assembled; and check to ensure equipment is in working order.
Assist surgeon and surgical staff during procedure by passing sterile instruments, supplies, sutures as needed and in such a manner so that their attention is not diverted from the operative field.
Observe strict aseptic technique throughout the entire procedure and reports breaks in technique to the circulating nurse and surgeon.
Isolate soiled or contaminated instruments and supplies to minimize the spread of infection.
Receive specimen and prepare it for laboratory.
Clean and restocking operating room following each procedure.
Maintain inventory of surgical supplies.
Perform other duties and assume various responsibilities as determined by the Director of Nursing and Doctor(s).
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school graduate or equivalent.
Current certification in Basic Life Support, or ability to obtain upon hire, is required.
Current CST is preferred, but not required.
