ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Perform all plumbing, electrical, or HVAC requirements of the building(s)
• Maintain heating equipment, chillers (air and/ or water cooled), DX units, pumps, cooling towers, fan coil units, VAV, and air distribution systems, etc.
• Monitor and adjust all mechanical/pneumatic equipment, steam stations, control gauges, distributor panels, valves, thermostats, diffusers, and other equipment necessary to provide a comfortable environment for the buildings
• Verify field conditions and perform any necessary repairs or adjustments
• Monitor Energy Management
• Repair doors, ceilings, hand railings, and floors and other general repairs, adjustments and installations about the property
• Perform repairs to plumbing fixtures (water closets, urinals, flush valve assemblies, lavatories, etc.)
• Perform preventive maintenance duties in accordance with C&W standards, building protocol, manufacturer recommendations and industry best practices. including changing filters, cleaning coils, flushing condensers, punching tubes, greasing fan, pump and motor bearings as required, inspecting and adjusting belts, replacing motor bearings, aligning pulleys and shafts, monitor condenser, chilled, heating and secondary water chemical treatment and its associated feed equipment, clean and maintain cooling towers, and perform annual inspections and other scheduled routines as directed.
• Inspect engine room equipment, fan room equipment, cooling tower, all motors, house pumps, electric rooms, back-up generator, fire pump(s), sump pump(s), and ejector pumps. Replace lamps, light fixtures, reinstall or replace signage, verify rooms are clean and clear of obstructions and debris
• Check for properly operating emergency exit signs and lights and ensure free and clear access to emergency stairs and exits. Perform additional fire and life safety inspections as per NFPA and local jurisdiction, C&W standards, building protocol and as directed by superiors and property management
• Document and report activities to supervisor
• Respond immediately to emergency situations (fire, evacuation, equipment failure, etc.) and customer concerns
• Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency, and company directives as relates to building operations and practice safe work habits
• Complete all required C&W Safety Training as scheduled annually
• Comply with C&W Uniform Dress Code while working and maintain a neat and clean appearance while on the property at times other than working hours

IMPORTANT EDUCATION

• Graduate of apprentice program or trade school preferred
IMPORTANT EXPERIENCE
• 5+ years of related work experience in operating mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in a commercial property setting
ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
• Appropriate license/permit for trade as may be required, i.e. Journeyman or Master Electrician License or City Licenses, such as Refrigeration Certificate of Fitness, High Pressure Boiler License, High Pressure Steam Operator, etc.)
• May be required to have certification as a Universal Technician for CFC's depending on market licensure requirements
• Possess and maintain a valid driver's license and good driving record with periodic checks (where applicable)
• Basic Computing Skills in Outlook, Excel & Word
• Experience in operation, maintenance and basic repair of HVAC, boilers, heaters, pumps, refrigerant systems, compressors, water systems, etc.
• Knowledgeable in energy management systems, techniques and operations.
• Thorough knowledge in all building systems operations, maintenance and repair.
May be only maintenance staff member on duty during certain shifts; may be required to work extended periods of time without relief when responding to priority/emergency situations (including overtime type assignments); may require shift work and/or on call duties
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Regularly required to travel outside between properties in varying weather conditions.

Position Detail:
We currently have an opening for an experienced Mechanical Engineer at our New Milford, CT location. This is a hybrid position.
Reporting to the Engineering and Construction Manager, the Mechanical Engineer is responsible for serving as the project manager and/or project lead to carry out assignments associated primarily in mechanical engineering in support of FirstLight's hydroelectric generating station equipment and facilities. Work assignments will include projects located throughout FirstLight's US operating sites.

Key Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:
Provide leadership for assigned CAPEX and major maintenance projects;
Perform engineering design and analysis work for modifications to existing plant equipment and for new plant equipment;
Respond to requests for engineering/technical assistance from other departments;
Recommend corrective actions and improvements based on review of operational, maintenance, and failure data;
Prepare and/or review technical studies and reports;
Prepare cost-benefit analyses in support of proposed engineering assignments;
Prepare job specifications, RFPs and evaluate proposals for contractor and consultant services and/or equipment purchases;
Coordinate personnel, develop schedules, and evaluate work plans required to support engineering assignments;
Provide oversight of contractors and consultants working on assigned projects;
Develop a thorough understanding of generating station principles of operation and maintenance as required to successfully inspect and maintain facility equipment;
Perform inspections and refine inspection protocols to evaluate the condition of facility equipment to recommend repairs and maintenance schedules;
Support FERC civil, environmental, public safety, and operational requirements;
Ensure assignments meet quality standards, regulatory requirements and are completed on time and within budget;
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned;
Complies and enforces all FirstLight policies and procedures.
Job Qualifications / Skills
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field is required;
3+ years' experience in the power generation or related industry;
Experience in power plant systems, component design, project management and FERC Dam Safety is preferred;
Registered Professional Engineer designation is preferred;
High standard of technical competence;
Working knowledge of federal and state regulatory criteria and industry codes, standards, and general engineering practices;
Ability to analyze information, determine relevant facts, and make decisions in a timely and cost-effective manner;
Strong initiative and the ability to work with minimum supervision;
Proven ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple ongoing projects;;
Effective clear and concise communication skills;
Familiarity working with various levels of the organization and with counterparts in industry and government organizations;

**Qualifications you'll bring:**

**Your key responsibilities:**
+ Coordinates with Analytics Team to generate performance reporting and associated financial models.
+ Assists Leaders in leveraging of competitive transparency data during contract negotiation and annual performance reviews.
+ Assists with developing contract documents for renewals and/or amendments in compliance with company templates, reimbursement structure standards and other key process controls.
+ Supports the business relationships with Hospital, Physician and Ancillary Facilities.
+ Maintains an inventory of contracts, due dates, term clauses/end dates, spend and services by LOB.
+ Requests necessary data analytics from Informatics to support key business objectives and product objectives where contracting is involved.
+ Keeps and maintains necessary database trackers and a tracking system for department and MVP report outs.
+ Processes forms, tracks and scans signed/executed agreements and amendments.
+ Serves as the primary point of contact for day-to-day issues such as payment issues, authorization issues and contractual language interpretation disputes.
+ Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to regulatory compliance issues as they exist and change from time to time.
+ Proactive in identifying areas for efficiency improvement across all of Network Management; consistently challenges the status quo in favor of incremental improvement opportunities that could be achieved through new methods.

The company was incorporated in June of 1976. It was formed by a group of talented individuals, lead by James Staley, that were employees of the recently disbanded American Avitron company.
