Operational Excellence Engineer As an Operational Excellence Engineer you will be responsible for driving operational excellence to deliver year-over-year improvements in cost and productivity. RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES Dependent on the specific work assignment within the Process Safety program, some or all of the following apply: Support the adoption, implementation, and assurance of the PSM elements across the various site departments to ensure company best practices and procedures are understood, implemented and followed. Support and facilitate PHAs and other risk assessment processes. Identify and quantify Process Safety risks at the facility and measures for managing these risks. Maintain and update the Process Safety Risk Register. Provide technical leadership and support to identify hazards, evaluate the risk of those hazards, and assist in the development of effective solutions to mitigate risk. Develop and perform self-assessment for various PSM programs. Supports and manage the Incident Management Process and Incident Investigations associated with identified Process Safety Events (PSEs). Develop, monitor, and analyze trends in site PSM Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Support the MOC Process to ensure risks are properly identified and managed for changes and PHAs and PSSRs are adequate. Support the Bypass Override Risk Assessment (BORA) process as required. Mentor others in process safety to understand, identify and reduce process safety risk. Support the site in identifying and sustaining the management of key Process Safety Information (PSI). Support the development of PSM software tools. Perform Building Siting reviews to evaluate occupied and non-occupied buildings and support Building Siting program at site. Address any unexpected issues or delays, develop execution and engineering solutions to obstacles, and adjust plans as necessary. Lead final inspection and engineering review process in support of pre-startup safety review process for turnaround completion and unit startup. Responsible for conducting post-turnaround reviews to evaluate performance, document lessons learned, and recommend improvements for future turnarounds. Aid in the review of post-turnaround invoices from suppliers and contractors to maintain accurate billing practices. Maintain accurate records of all turnaround analyses, work performed, and project outcomes for future reference. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Knowledge: Possess strong understanding of mechanical, chemical, or process engineering principles applicable to the LNG facility operations. Familiar with turnaround planning, execution, and management methodologies, including project management techniques. Knowledge of industry regulations, safety standards, and environmental compliance relevant to LNG facility operations. Understanding of risk assessment methodologies and tools to identify and mitigate potential issues during turnarounds. Familiarity with the LNG facility equipment, systems, and maintenance practices, including common failure modes and repair techniques. Proficient understanding of the CMMS (Maximo)system, including its integration with inventory, purchasing, budgeting and accounting practices. Skills: Strong interpersonal skills to facilitate collaboration across departments and effectively communicate technical information. Strong organizational skills to plan, execute, and oversee turnaround activities efficiently. Proficiency in cost estimation techniques and budget management to ensure financial control during turnarounds Excellent verbal and written communications skills to effectively convey information clearly. Ability to analyze complex technical data, assess risks, and make informed decisions. Ability to analyze technical data and performance metrics to inform decision-making and improvements. Ability to lead diverse teams, motivating personnel, and fostering collaboration among various stakeholders. High level of accuracy and attention to detail to ensure compliance with turnaround objectives. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively to meet tight deadlines during turnarounds. Dedication, sensitivity to safety issues, compliance with policies and procedures are all essential for the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the terminal. Able to follow directions and quickly formulate and effectively communicate questions if clarification of an assignment is required. Able to apply existing skills in new roles and or environments. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and an aptitude for learning new software applications and systems. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Education and Certifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required. Experience : A minimum of five (5) - Senior; or ten (10) - Staff, years' experience within engineering discipline in industries such as oil & gas, petrochemical, or manufacturing with proven experience supporting and executing large-scale turnarounds. Recent experience with LNG is preferred, however, petrochemical, NGL, cryogenic natural gas processing, or other hydrocarbon processing experience may be acceptable. Formal education and a proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with personal characteristics of integrity, accountability, and dependability are also required. At least 5 years' experience with CMMS is required. Experience with Maximo CMMS is highly desirable. Oracle eAM, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Project and Microsoft Excel is desirable. DIRECT REPORTS There are no direct reports to this position. FREEDOM TO ACT The Senior or Staff Engineer, Maintenance Turnaround requires supervision but must also use sound judgment and make good decisions. WORK CONDITIONS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, work at height above ground on stairs and catwalks, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk or hear, smell, type and write. Must be able to board a ship via a gangway, climb to the top of a tank (200+ steps), climb vertical steel ladder up to forty feet or more in height, and lift and move objects weighting up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work indoors and outdoors, and exposed to year-round weather conditions in an ocean environment, noise, and other conditions normal to his industry. There is a considerable number of outdoor activities involved. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. • Subject to random drug and alcohol testing, per applicable federal regulations or as required by Cheniere.
