Duties Design, develop, and test custom rotary electrical connectors from concept to production. Have direct involvement in creating test criteria and setups for new prototypes and designs, mechanical and electrical in nature. Develop work instructions and other supporting documentation for manufacturing and production teams. Using Solidworks - Create drawings and supporting information for the purpose of conveying the design intent and functionality. Have a fundamental understanding and be deeply involved with all aspects of design, manufacturing, assembly, first-article qualification, production, and functionality within the ERP. Maintain the schedules and forward momentum of large and small projects, in order to meet customer and market-driven demands. Work with machine shops and other vendors in order to optimize design manufacturability and meet deadlines. Be an instrumental part of a cohesive electrical and mechanical engineering team to collaboratively work on developing new products, troubleshooting problems, and achieving performance, reliability, and cost improvements. This position is responsible for all aspects of process engineering, industrial engineering, production standard costs, tooling procurement, and potential new equipment installations as part of APQP. The Launch Engineer shall also be responsible for product transfers to the Beaver Dam PM facility. WHAT YOU'LL DO Lead APQP team in the development of new part opportunities and major engineering changes from concept through capable production process. Responsible for managing the sampling process. This includes processing and inspection of all samples and prototypes to meet customer requirements and due dates. This may also include working with Scheduling, Manufacturing and Quality where it is appropriate that they perform portions of these tasks. Develop and maintain all production routings, process documents, work center standards, manufacturing set-up and work instructions, etc. for process steps needed to manufacture a new part. This will also apply to any customer changes that are received. Support the commercial team in development of new job opportunities. This mainly involves discussions with customer engineering on specifics of manufacturability and functionality. Execute program timelines within budget constraints for new tooling and machinery.
