This position reports directly to the Area Aviation Officer. This position provides refueling support for State Helicopter Operations. Fuel truck driver will utilize two-way radios to receive requests for and provide fuel for helicopter operations; maintains records of all fueling systems to fuel tank, pump, filtering system, hoses, and bonding cables to assure safe operations; perform other tasks as assigned during the non-fire season duration of the appointment. Essential Functions (Major Duties or Responsibilities)\: Fuel Truck Driver: Fuel Truck operations and routine maintenance: This will include safe operation of fuel truck within established MT-DOT and MT- DNRC policies and daily truck inspections (check fluid levels, lights, etc). This will also include navigation to and from incidents across the state while maintaining positive communication with the assigned Helicopter. Fuel truck drivers will be tasked with keeping track of all fuel receipts (diesel and Jet-A), making sure they are stored in the appropriate manner. If deficiencies are found, it is the Fuel Truck Driver's obligation to notify the appropriate supervisors. Fuel System Operations and routine maintenance\: Fuel truck driver will be tasked with safely fueling the helicopter in the field and at the hanger. It is the fuel truck driver's obligation to follow pre-set protocols for safe aircraft fueling. Fuel truck driver will also do daily inspections on the entire Jet A fueling systems, as well as daily inspections of the Jet-A itself. All inspections must be documented and stored in the appropriate place. It will be up to the Fuel Truck Driver to ensure this is being completed. If deficiencies are found, it is the Fuel Truck Driver's obligation to notify the appropriate chains. Helispot coordination: When no management is present, the fuel truck driver may be asked to find an appropriate helicopter landing area (helispot). Marking hazards, marking the touchdown pad, and marking the wind will be critical aspects to helispot coordination. Keeping a clear and clean helispot will be the responsibility of the Fuel Truck Driver in the absence of the Helicopter Manager or Aviation Supervisor.
