Job Overview Shriners Children's is actively seeking a full-time Pediatric Intensivist to join our growing team at Shriners Children's Ohio in Dayton. The Pediatric Intensivist will be responsible for the medical management of all patients on the unit, in close collaboration with the attending Burn and Plastic surgeons. A major focus for the candidate will be on the daily management of acutely burned patient as well as the post-operative management of surgical patients undergoing burn reconstructions as well post-surgical management of craniofacialpatients. The intensivist will serve a 7 bed (expanding) unit with a mix of both critical and non-critical patients. The unit is staffed with burn/critical care surgeons and plastic/reconstructive surgeons in collaboration with 2 pediatric intensivists. 5 APPs and moonlighting residents also serve the unit. The unit also has an active sedation service, which is incorporated into the provider's service week. This position entails a 1.0 FTE commitment, structured as 7 consecutive days on service, followed by 7 to 10 days of back-up home call coverage in which in-house nights are incorporated into when patient condition requires this. Compensation is determined based on years of post-fellowship experience and departmental equity. Responsibilities Provide high level pediatric critical care clinical services to burn and craniofacial patients including, but not limited to: Performing and recording history and physical examinations Recording and interpreting pertinent patient data Developing, documenting, and executing a treatment plan Writing routine orders for appropriate laboratory studies, imaging, and consultations Performing patient/parent teaching Assisting with patient follow-up Performing appropriate screenings Administering medications as required Ordering and/or performing therapeutic and diagnostic procedures as indicated by patient findings Make suggestions to the Department Chief and/or attending staff that may be beneficial to the improvement of departmental and/or hospital policies and operations. Participate in the call schedule as assigned Develop, maintain and promote effective working relationships with other physicians and hospital staff Participate in staff meetings and hospital committees Use hospital resources efficiently Abide by hospital regulations, bylaws, and policies Maintain good professional relationships with the broader medical community Qualifications Must possess a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school Must have completed an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredited pediatric residency program. The unit is staffed with burn/critical care surgeons and plastic/reconstructive surgeons in collaboration with 2 pediatric intensivists. 5 APPs and moonlighting residents also serve the unit. The unit also has an active sedation service, which is incorporated into the provider's service week. This position entails a 1.0 FTE commitment, structured as 7 consecutive days on service, followed by 7 to 10 days of back-up home call coverage in which in-house nights are incorporated into when patient condition requires this. Compensation is determined based on years of post-fellowship experience and departmental equity.     Job Description Shriners Children's is actively seeking a full-time Pediatric Intensivist to join our growing team at Shriners Children's Ohio in Dayton. The Pediatric Intensivist will be responsible for the medical management of all patients on the unit, in close collaboration with the attending Burn and Plastic surgeons. A major focus for the candidate will be on the daily management of acutely burned patient as well as the post-operative management of surgical patients undergoing burn reconstructions as well post-surgical management of craniofacialpatients. The intensivist will serve a 7 bed (expanding) unit with a mix of both critical and non-critical patients. The unit is staffed with burn/critical care surgeons and plastic/reconstructive surgeons in collaboration with 2 pediatric intensivists. 5 APPs and moonlighting residents also serve the unit. The unit also has an active sedation service, which is incorporated into the provider's service week. This position entails a 1.0 FTE commitment, structured as 7 consecutive days on service, followed by 7 to 10 days of back-up home call coverage in which in-house nights are incorporated into when patient condition requires this. Compensation is determined based on years of post-fellowship experience and departmental equity. Responsibilities Provide high level pediatric critical care clinical services to burn and craniofacial patients including, but not limited to: Performing and recording history and physical examinations Recording and interpreting pertinent patient data Developing, documenting, and executing a treatment plan Writing routine orders for appropriate laboratory studies, imaging, and consultations Performing patient/parent teaching Assisting with patient follow-up Performing appropriate screenings Administering medications as required Ordering and/or performing therapeutic and diagnostic procedures as indicated by patient findings Make suggestions to the Department Chief and/or attending staff that may be beneficial to the improvement of departmental and/or hospital policies and operations.
