At California State University San Bernardino, the Office of Pre-College Programs (OPP) is breaking down cultural barriers creating equitable solutions for education. OPP is seeking an approachable individual able to develop programs and convey novel ideas to a diverse group of professionals. The VISTA will coordinate the development of a K-12 pipeline for hearing impaired/deaf students in the Inland Empire and plan the development of an affinity center at CSUSB. The purpose of the project will be to create a high school to postsecondary education pipeline for hearing-impaired students, as well as to establish an affinity center at CSUSB to provide opportunities for community building, networking and career development. The project will establish a partnership between the Riverside School for the Deaf, the CSUSB Office of Pre-College Programs and CSUSB Students with Disabilities (SSD). The intention of this partnership will be to provide support to prospective college students by developing opportunities to build community amongst other deaf students throughout the region. Additionally, although CSUSB provides support services, there is no designated space on campus where students with disabilities can build community and a sense of belonging. Furthermore, although 90% of deaf students who attend CSUSB are on the Dean's List, many of them struggle to find employment. An affinity center will be developed to build community and support, and serve as a space for career development workshops. Member Duties : Establish partnerships and pipeline of support services. Create a database of organizations and individual representatives of services or interest areas in regards to supporting the Deaf student community. Develop an Affinity Center and provide linkages to employers. Develop a campaign to provide community education and promote services. Identify or develop best practices materials and curriculum for mentoring and parent engagement of Deaf students. Develop a plan to convene prospective and current students and families quarterly beginning in the summer months to provide opportunities to build relationships so that they can enter post-secondary with a network of supports.

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently sourcing for a Pipeline Operator / Pigging Technician in Tilden/Three Rivers, TX.

Schedule: Monday - Friday (7am-4pm)

Location: Tilden/Three Rivers

Local candidates preferred - with a 60 mile radius. No Per Diem or lodging provided. Wood offers health benefits, 401k, vacation, LTD/STD and more.

Authorization to work lawfully in the US without sponsorship from Wood is required

* Inspect and maintain facilities as assigned to include but not limited to, pipe, compressor stations, company vehicle and equipment used to conduct daily job duties.
* Run chemical pills on pipeline
* Running the In Line Inspection tools and Operation Qualifications needed for pipeline regulatory
* Pigging and preparing lines forthe inspection company
* On call for areas of responsibility on a rotating basis.
* Maintain working knowledge of regulatory requirements, (OSHA, DOT, etc.)document required regulatory activities.
* Plan, organize, and prioritize assigned responsibilities, and work independently.
* Proven knowledge and understanding of procedures used to safely pig pipelines i.e. launching, receiving and inspection
* Will also perform lockout/tagout procedures and monitor field compressor status through the use of SCADA.
* Responsibilities also include reporting, prevention and reporting of any spills and monitoring environmental compliance.
* Upkeep and replacement of pipeline valves, actuators, pumps required
* Knowledge of liquid handling equipment, pigging facilities required

Perform O&M crew duties relating to maintenance and operation of natural gas underground pipeline, including but not limited to:
Install, maintain, repair, relocate and retire new or existing natural gas facilities and appurtenances
Assist with, plan and set up work zone safety and traffic control measures
Perform general site preparation, restoration and right of way maintenance duties
Develop proficiency in safe operation of heavy equipment such as mini-excavators, back hoes, skid steers, trenchers, etc., including but not limited to excavation around utilities (natural gas, electric, etc.)
Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on equipment
Operate power tools
Perform hand digging
Inspect above ground appurtenances for atmospheric corrosion
Paint above ground appurtenances
Perform pipe to soil corrosion readings
Corrosion control and pipe remediation, including wrapping and coating pipe
Thread and cut pipe
Perform plastic pipe fusion
Perform the role of “Competent Person” on the crew
Perform facility locate duties
Perform third party damage investigation
Develop knowledge of proficiency in record keeping systems relating to field operations, maintenance and compliance; complete work documentation/records with accuracy and on a timely basis
Utilize and become proficient in technology devices such as computer, smart phone, etc. for work assignments and to accurately record required information
Provide guidance and demonstrate proper procedural technique on work related tasks to lesser skilled employees

Education, Experience and Skills:
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or GED
Experience applying basic mechanical concepts and mechanical aptitude
Experience using construction tools
Experience operating construction equipment
Experience utilizing personal computers (PCs) in a Windows environment
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and have ability to obtain CDL license within 18 months of entering the position
Desired Qualifications
Safety awareness and leadership
Demonstrated effective communication (Verbal and Written) and interpersonal skills and safety awareness
Advanced experience using construction tool and construction equipment
Documented training on heavy equipment
Significant experience operating heavy equipment and/or excavation equipment in a utilities environment
Industry specific knowledge and experience
Experience in diagnostics and troubleshooting of mechanical and/or electrical equipment
2 Years technical school education or the equivalent job-related knowledge and appropriate gas piping related license
Possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
Previous experience with plumbing, electrical, heating and air installation/maintenance
Physical Requirements:
Must work outdoors in adverse weather conditions; lifting up to 75 lbs.; frequent walking, reaching, pushing, pulling, bending, squatting, stooping, crawling, standing, digging, climbing; works on uneven terrain, many times with heavy vegetation; manual dexterity (hand/eye coordination); keen eyesight; good hearing; good sense of smell; comes in frequent contact with insects and animals; ability to use breathing apparatus when responding to gas leaks.
