This position is responsible for providing law enforcement duties for the campus community, and responds to all emergencies and calls for assistance.

Supervises and provides security of inmates in mass movements to include large chains, unit fill-ups, and administrative segregation moves systemwide which involve climbing stairs, steps, and ladders and climbing around the inside and outside of buildings; works outdoors and indoors without air conditioning; works around motorized or moving equipment and machinery; and is subject to all types of weather.

Reads, reviews, and properly applies information found in inmate records which is related to the inmate's health and safety and to the security of the facility and transfer vehicle; checks and matches travel cards, medical records, transfer orders, and unit files accompanying inmates being transported; provides appropriate information to other staff; complies with policies, procedures, rules, and regulations; enforces inmate disciplinary rules; and prepares and maintains records, forms, and report

A. Education, Experience, and Training
Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED.
Successful completion of an accredited TDCJ approved college Correctional Officer Training program or TDCJ Correctional Officer Pre-service Training Academy.
Eligible to obtain a valid Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL) with Passenger (P) endorsement within 120 days of employment date or, if applicable, graduation of PSTA preferred.
Eligible to obtain a valid CDL Medical Examiner's Certificate within 120 days of employment date or, if applicable, completion of PSTA preferred,
Must be registered with the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse prior to employment and/or prior to operating a commercial motor vehicle.

Selected applicants without required license(s) must sign a Credential Contingency Agreement that will remain in effect only until the initially established expiration date.
