Each summer, the Girl Scouts of Alaska camp team works together toward one common mission - to help every girl who attends camp develop courage, confidence, and character to make the world a better place. About Camp Togowoods:
All Camp Togowoods campers enjoy arts and crafts, nature hikes, environmental education, swimming, canoeing or kayaking, and outdoor cooking. Campers sleep in platform tents (wooden floors, cots, and mosquito netting), bringing the outdoors within reach. Campers have a sense of independence with the security of counselors living in an adjacent tent. Campers will make new friends in their groups, made up of similarly aged campers. These camper groups will attend daily activities and meals together. Special care is taken to ensure that each camper has the chance to learn and grow with challenging activities, along with basic skill-based instruction.
Campers going into 1st-5th grade will be able to participate in day camp with the option to have one night of overnight camp at the end of the week. Campers 2nd-12th grade stay overnight at camp for 5 nights, 6 days, participating in themed sessions, intro to wilderness for younger campers, wilderness trips for middle school and high schoolers, and leadership programs for high schoolers.
Your Role at Camp Togowoods
At camp, we create a community that helps girls unlock their potential while developing life skills. We work to build girls with courage, confidence, and character. You will work with staff partners to plan and deliver outdoor activities for a group of girls ranging in grade from 1st to 12th. These activities will include STEM, arts and crafts, outdoor skills, environmental education, boating (kayaking and canoeing), and more. You will receive training in creating and leading age-appropriate activities that foster character growth and are fun and engaging. You will supervise all aspects of the campers' day, including waking up, activities, meals, rest time, evening activities, getting ready for bed, and overnight.
At the conclusion of the Camp Togowoods season, Girl Scouts of Alaska will also operate an overnight camp session in Juneau. Participation in the Juneau camp session will be determined by your position and outlined in your offer letter. Camp Togowoods is Girl Scouts of Alaska's overnight camp located on more than 400 beautiful acres along the shores of Three Mile Lake near Wasilla, Alaska.
For the staff working at the Juneau Camp, Girl Scouts of Alaska will provide transportation to Juneau. Staff will be responsible for their own transportation from Juneau, Alaska at the end of the camp season.
Pay
Pay varies based on position and experience, with starting pay at $440 per week. Compensation includes food and lodging for the duration of the camp season.
For eligible, non-local staff, compensation also includes a $675 travel stipend, which is paid in addition to base pay and distributed evenly across paychecks. As with regular wages, all applicable taxes and deductions will be withheld from the travel stipend.

Description: The Nurse/Healthcare Director will attend to the physical well-being and care of campers and staff. Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
* Plan, coordinate, and direct the administrative, maintenance, and custodial services of the Center maintenance department.
* Plan determine work priorities, schedule, supervise, and direct the work of Maintenance Technicians and Maintenance Helpers.

* Provide training on new equipment and safety issues. Supervise and train department staff on health and safety issues, and assure the department complies with federal and state safety and health regulations and codes.
* Conduct regular inspections of buildings, grounds, and equipment.
* Confer with Center staff concerning the analysis, probable methods, and implementation of maintenance procedures for more efficient, economical, and integrated operations.
* Review and evaluate maintenance cost of equipment. Recommend retirement and/or replacement of units that reflect excessive maintenance costs.
* Supervise installation, maintenance, and modification possibilities applicable to telecommunication systems, and methods of determining cost variables in relation to the effectiveness of the equipment.
* Review and process accident/injury reports for job related injuries. Identify unsafe practices and establish strategy for suitable corrective measures to manage the risk of accident and injury loss in accordance with the Center, corporate, and DOL policies, and other appropriate codes and regulations.
* Coordinate with outside agencies and contractors on all matters regarding the Center maintenance.
* Maintain accountability of students and property; adhere to safety practices.
* Cultivate and maintain a climate on Center, which is free of harassment, intimidation, and disrespect to provide a safe place for staff and students to work and learn.
* Review, report and process accident/injury reports for staff and student job related injuries. Identify unsafe practices and develop corrective measures to minimize risk and lost time accidents in accordance with corporate, government and Job Corps regulations.
* Promote student attainment of career success standards through modeling appropriate skills, mentoring students, monitoring skill acquisition and intervening when inappropriate behavior is observed.

1. Provides itinerant outreach services, based on a referral process, to students who experience emotional disabilites, including those with additional disabilities across Alaska's 54 school districts.

3. Observe students in educational settings for the purpose of providing/modeling evidence-based interventions and strategies for development of functional and educational outcomes.
4. Compiles data from a variety of sources (e.g. IEP meetings, student observations, special education teachers, school psychologist, etc.) for the purpose of customizing training and support.
5. Coordinates a variety of activities for the purpose of delivering technical assistance services in compliance with agency policy and process.

Vessel Operations & Compliance
Operate the M/V Ptarmigan in full compliance with the USFS contract and all USCG regulations.

Provide guest narration when USFS interpretive services are not available.
Conduct required USCG drills, safety exercises, and maintain all associated records.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Field work may include bird surveys, various environmental monitoring projects, and fisheries monitoring and habitat restoration. The district has a small staff and takes an interdisciplinary approach to managing the land, so the incumbent will assist other programs including recreation, botany and invasive plants, restoration, and public events/outreach.
The district will provide training including: CRP/First aid, bear behavior and safety, aviation, boat passenger safety, radio operations, hazardous communications, and fire extinguisher operation.
The district will provide housing (bunkhouse or other shared space) for the placement when he/she is not deployed in the field and all protective equipment and supplies (hard hats, eye protection, personal floatation devices, etc.) as appropriate for the activity.
Marginal Duties
A portion of this person's time will include assisting with educational activities such as the Yakutat Tern Festival, Family Fishing Day, Summer Explorers Program and more.
Required Qualifications
Fieldwork in Southeast Alaska involves exposure to inclement weather, hiking in steep brushy terrain, and carrying heavy packs; all of which require a high level of physical fitness.
This SCA Position is authorized under the Public Land Corps Authority. All participants must be between the ages of 16 and 30, inclusive, or veterans age 35 or younger. Placement will be residing at the Forest Service bunkhouse or other shared housing unit with communal kitchen, living room, and bathroom/laundry room. Placement may be asked to share a bedroom with one other person. Items such as beds, closet space, pillows, sheets, towels, toilet paper and dish soap/ laundry detergent will be provided. Kitchens include stove, oven, sink, fridge, and are stocked with cooking and eating ware.
Certainly one of the most rugged and remote postings in the country, the Yakutat Ranger District is 1.3 million acres of National Forest located at the northern edge of the Alaska panhandle, between Glacier Bay and Wrangell St Elias National Parks. Accessible only by plane or boat, it is set in a landscape of glaciers, old-growth forests, wild rivers, bays, and open ocean, and populated with moose, mountain goats, deer, 200 species of birds, wolves, and especially bears. The area supports some of the healthiest and most diverse stocks of wild Pacific salmon and trout in the world. About 700 people reside in the demographically diverse community of Yakutat which has all the basic services including a community health center, K-12 school, and 2 grocery stores, but lacks many amenities offered in larger communities. Alaska Airlines offers daily flights connecting Yakutat to Juneau, Anchorage, or Seattle. Outdoor recreational opportunities are superb and include fishing, sea kayaking, canoeing, camping, birding, hiking, wildlife viewing, and even surfing. Yakutat is a prime location for many natural resource careers at any stage.

Position Description:
SFAC's Camp Counselors are an integral part of the campers' experience and provide support for students to grow as people and artists at camp. This job provides extraordinary experience for people interested in careers in teaching or other arts education fields. Counselors are responsible for a variety of tasks throughout the summer including student supervision and support, leading recreational activities, ensuring a safe environment for all students at camp, helping to keep dorms clean and sanitary, assisting in classes, and helping with campus setup, turnover, and cleanup. Counselors are expected to be helpful, responsible, and flexible members of the camp team and the ideal candidate is willing to assist in campus duties as needed with an enthusiastic and energetic attitude. All SFAC staff are expected to provide excellent customer service to all members of the campus community and to each other
Specific Position Duties:
Provide supervision of students during times that they are not in classes: at meals, during recreation, in dormitories, at off-campus activities.
Provide organized recreational activities for students each day according to schedule.
Understand and adhere to all camp rules and Fine Arts Campus rules.
Exhibit role-model behavior around all students.
Maintain a safe environment for all students by anticipating inter-student conflict, ensuring equitable enforcement of rules, and observing proactive safety procedures (e.g. emergency protocols, first aid, fire drills, van transportation).
Oversee security, safety and comfort in dormitories. To reside in the dormitory and to provide guidance to a small group of assigned students. To assist with room check-in, check-out and clean-up.
Assist students who are upset, homesick or overwhelmed by Camp. To listen with empathy and to advocate for the needs of students. To refer students with continuing issues or acute problems to the Director of Students.
Participate in other Camp activities on a rotational basis with other counselors: meal supervision, class assistance, evening programs, transportation, cleaning, other activities.
Assist with campus, classroom, and dorm set-up, turnover days, and campus, classroom, and dorm cleanup.
Other duties as assigned.

Employee cell phones should always remain in silent mode or off and should be stored in the staff member's room during the day. Cell phones may not be used during work times or when interacting with or around campers. Cell phone usage is limited to time off and breaks away from campers.
