As a member of our Infrastructure and Services Group, you would contribute to CDM Smith's mission by:
- Designing systems ranging from basic to highly complex to meet client needs. This includes HVAC master planning and studies, HVAC and plumbing systems, mechanical systems such as co-generation, and centralized energy systems. The role also involves implementing energy efficiency improvements for large campus environments-including manufacturing facilities, hospitals, and water systems-focused on sustainability, energy efficiency, renewable energy, and green building initiatives.
- Performing other duties as required such as heating/cooling load calculations, duct/pipe sizing, equipment selections, system layouts, and coordination with other design disciplines.
- Developing detailed energy models and Life Cycle Cost Analysis for various building types.
- Performing Level 1 through 3 energy audits to assess energy consumption, evaluate HVAC performance, identify high-energy loads, and propose energy-saving measures.
- Performing site surveys, developing equipment inventories, evaluating proposed energy efficiency measures, and recommending improvements.
- Collaborating with sales staff to develop proposals in response to current and prospective client requests for proposals (RFPs). Reviewing draft proposals for adherence to firm, industry, state, local, and federal regulations and best practices. Engaging with existing and potential clients to review their current and future design needs.
- Attending conferences, symposia, and similar events to enhance the visibility of the firm's products and services in coordination with relevant sales staff.
- Provides technical guidance and training to more junior staff. Reviews the work of more junior staff.

JOB OVERVIEW
As a key member of the Engineering & Design team, the Designer is responsible for developing accurate and innovative mechanical designs that meet customer specifications and support new product development. **SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Lead / own large and/or complex design projects from concept generation through implementation.
-Lead / Participate in problem-solving exercises with the Industrial Design staff and/or project teams to design innovative products that are inspiring and meaningful.
-Take the designs from concepts through implementation through sketching, CAD, and construction of mockups with high level of design in every detail throughout the product.
-Develop and present compelling strategies and ideas for new products and experiences that provide competitive and financial advantages.
-Develop and maintain knowledge and insights of socio-economic, technology, interior design and wellness industry and apply to product strategy and new product development. Define the consumer for our target segment for each product category and channel.
-Become a functional expert in Wellness products category through determining appropriate approaches to concept development by executing design research, product concept designs, physical modeling, and presentations.
-Work very closely with all new product development departments, especially Engineering, Marketing, Purchasing, and Manufacturing, to achieve new product design requirements with understanding of our business operations, channels, competitive set, and current influences that shape our ability to impact the market.
- Continuously explore and develop new methods of model making and presentation techniques as appropriate to cost and timing factors.
-Maintain current awareness of consumer and competitor product offerings including product design trends in both the U.S. and in foreign markets.
**Skills/Requirements**
+ Bachelor's or Master's degree from accredited university or college with academic emphasis on industrial design.

We are seeking a skilled BIM Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in reviewing contract documents, developing 3D BIM models, and managing various aspects of model layout and coordination. Responsibilities + Review contract documents to provide bid estimates.
+ Interpret architectural and structural drawings, specifications, and engineering calculations to develop detailed submittal drawings.
+ Develop 3D BIM models for structures, building components, cladding, or panel facades.
+ Manage all aspects of model layout, input, coordination, submittal drawing creation, and as-built documentation for assigned projects.
+ Train a team of Revit modelers.
Essential Skills

JOB SUMMARY:
The Layout Designer will support engineers with drawing layouts by utilizing computer aided drafting software. This role will also be responsible for creating new and modified components and Bill of Materials (BOM) in accordance to the Oshkosh standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.
Update current drawings per markups based on direction from engineering; re-master CAD drawings to current format.
Use computer-aided drafting systems to create 3D and 2D layouts, following the direction of design team members.
Self-check own work to ensure accuracy and organization, dimension and tolerance convention, and conformance with established CAD specifications and standards.
Utilize ERP systems to create part numbers following the proper naming process and data entry requirements.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate degree in Mechanical Design or equivalent* with two (2) years of experience in drafting/design.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate degree or equivalent* with three (3) years of experience in drafting/design.
Verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to adapt to a fast pace environment.
Detail oriented.
Capable of using standard Windows Office tools including SharePoint, email, and CAD tools.
