Responsibilities Operate air, power, and hand tools such as air chisels, prybars, bandsaw, sawzall and angle grinders to destructively test or cut out samples of various types of joining technologies Effectively use hand measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and tape measures Complete visual inspections and or destructive testing of components, welds and other joining technologies Use joining inspection sheets to identify weld ID's and other specific critical joints Accurately document and report data in Excel and report results using Jira Standing and working in awkward positions such as but not limited to kneeling, bending, laying and crouched work may be required for extended periods of time to complete inspections and cutting operations Team lifting and moving of large sub-assemblies well over 100 lbs to move them into cutting positions Ability to push pull loads on wheeled dolly over 100 lbs Ability to lift 50 lbs individually Support manufacturing team equipment and process capability analysis Execute product and process validation / inspection plans Assist in performing and teaching all processes and assignments within the department, with the ability to fill in as needed Identify and contain suspect defective material Perform metal cutting and polishing to create measurable lab samples of welded joints Responsible to participate in quality related continuous improvement (Kaizen) projects Develop, maintain, and improve the quality culture within responsible area May perform other duties as assigned Qualifications Welding, fabrication, metal working, or weld inspection experience required Laboratory equipment experience 3+ years of high-volume manufacturing or quality experience (or) An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience Problem solving experience Computer skills: Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, email - ability to manage files and records effectively Statistical process control / control charts Destructive or non-destructive inspection or testing experience Kaizen / continuous improvement process experience Good oral and written communication skills Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) Ability to stand for 8-12 hours per day. Starts and stops machine, engages feed, and observes operation to detect malfunctions of machine. Makes minor adjustments or repairs such as opening and/or turning valves, setting guides, clearing away damaged product, and changing parts. Inspects and measures filters or filter elements to verify conformance to specifications. Manages work in process inventories. Replenishes raw and consumable materials such as boxes, pallets, cartons, glue, lubricants, ink, or labels. Tracks and monitors production and quality by recording information manually and/or on a computer. Monitors product and process for non-conforming product and communicates inadequacies to appropriate personnel. Escalates equipment, productivity, and quality issues as required. Ensures Six S (Sort, Set, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, Safety) and general housekeeping practices. Maintains flexibility in work assignments and assists others as appropriate. Regular punctuality, attendance for scheduled shifts. Ensures Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Total Productive Manufacturing (TPM) work orders are completed on time. Follows documented procedures and work instructions as well as instructions from Line Leads and Shift Supervisors. Works in a safe manner, following all safety policies and procedures while keeping in mind other's safety as well. Reports any accidents and potentially unsafe conditions or unsafe acts immediately to appropriate supervisor. Completes daily record keeping/logbook entries. Be available for overtime as needed - possible weekends. Other duties as assigned.
