Job Description
Grace is seeking a Quality Control Lab Technician for our South Haven Site. The South Haven Site produces a portfolio of products for the specialty pharmaceutical industries, specifically Active Pharmaceutical Intermediates. Consisting of a cGMP kilo lab, pilot plant and custom manufacturing at the commercial volumes, the site is fully equipped to develop and manufacture custom drug intermediates and API's. South Haven is nestled on the Lake Michigan Coast with beautiful beaches and fun year-round.
The QC Lab Tech position performs analytical testing, interpretation of tests and documentation on raw material, stability samples, in-process batch samples, final products and recovered or waste streams on a regular basis for such purposes as quality control, process control, or product development. Performs special research and development testing as directed when needs arise. Maintains laboratory equipment, files, procedure manuals, MSDS and supplies. Environmental plates, method development. This position works nights 5 pm to 5am and reports to the QC Lab Supervisor. Starting pay $26.62 with much room for advancement. Grace pays a premium for working nights.
Responsibilities
Requires fine observation skills and attention to detail; able to handle multiple priorities.
Sets up, adjusts and operates laboratory equipment and instruments such as microscopes, centrifuge, agitators, viscosimeter, chemical balance scales, spectrophotometer, gas chromatograph, HPLC, colorimeter, and other equipment. Performs Titration, gravimetric analysis and solution preparation. Tests materials for presence and content of substances or impurities.
Tests samples of manufactured products to verify conformity to specifications.
Technician will document results of testing on standard forms; writes test reports describing procedures used, interpretation of findings. Prepares graphs and charts.
Prepares test solutions according to standard formulas, glassware and other test equipment to be available.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Technician will maintain laboratory equipment and ensure cleanliness.
Calibrates laboratory instruments.
Responsible for maintaining procedure manuals, stability study data, material safety data sheets and Quality Control files.
Manage hazardous waste in compliance with regulation.

Job Summary
Promote a quality culture throughout the manufacturing facilities. Direct and support plant quality function efforts in development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives that will reduce the cost of quality and that meet/exceed customer requirements. Candidates will need previous experience with the operation of calipers and micrometers, as well as previous inspection experience to best facilitate the inspection process.
Essential Job Functions
* Interpret engineering drawings; assuring standards are met throughout the manufacturing process.
* Complete In Process Inspections for common & identified issues with parts at specified stages.
* Perform "Receiving Inspection" on identified / known issues with supplied components.
* Recommend modifications of existing quality system, process, or production standards to improve quality and efficiency.
* Assist Quality Manager in resolving urgent quality issues.
* Complete containment activities for nonconforming material as necessary
* Use various measuring tools to evaluate the product that include assembled components, machined components, welded components and supplied components using a Height gage, mics, calipers, and other common inspection tools.
* Assist external 3rd Party calibration company as necessary.
* Complete NCR's and submit to Purchasing for debit memos for supplied components. Provide additional defect details and photos as necessary for supplied components to Purchasing or supplier.
* Maintain a neat and organized Non-Conforming Material area.
* Assist with daily manufacturing and supplier scrap review & disposition.
* Assist with product review & release of parts from Quality Hold for shipping purposes.
* Assist with data acquisition for COPQ reporting metrics.
* Support the ISC team, engineering, purchasing and product management.
* Performs other related duties and projects as assigned.

SUMMARY: The Quality Technician is primarily responsible for ensuring product quality by conducting inspections, verifying compliance with quality standards, supporting assembly, molding and paint operations, and maintaining accurate documentation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
· Perform first-piece inspections on all active molding and assembly presses at the start of the shift including color checks, SPC measurements, and gaging.
· Collect parts from molding and assembly for SPC checks once per shift.
· Make quality decisions per the proper standards and samples.
· Review, create, and sign off on labels, mold/color change logs, and other required documentation for management.
· Review and update quality alerts; ensure alerts are properly addressed.
· Conduct mid-shift audits via various documents and record findings.
· Contain and clearly label any defective parts found during the shift.
· Respond to operator-reported issues and ensure defective items are held from production.
· Sort parts on hold during downtime and return acceptable parts to production or remove from the system.

· Clearly label, contain, and segregate suspect or rejected parts in accordance with company protocols.
· Any other project deemed necessary by Department head(s).
