    Job Description American Battery Technology Company (ABTC) is an industry-leading battery metals and critical material technology development and commercialization company. Our Pilot Plant just outside of Reno, Nevada will be the first integrated implementation of our multi-step processing train for the full mechanical processing, physical separation, chemical extraction, and production of commercial-scale battery metals that will be resold back into the battery manufacturing supply chain to enact a low-cost, low environmental impact, and domestically sourced closed-loop circular economy. We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Quality Technician to join our Li-ion battery recycling operation. This critical role reports directly to the Head of Quality and plays a vital part in ensuring the safety, quality, and efficiency of our battery disassembly, processing, and finished product quality. This position is for our D-shift staff, working nights, Thursday through Saturday, and every other Wednesday. Requirements Experience: Proven professional experience (2+ years) in a quality control, technician, or related technical role, preferably within a manufacturing, recycling, or complex technical environment. Battery Expertise: Direct hands-on experience with Li-ion battery technology, including familiarity with common battery pack and module architectures. Mechanical Fluency: Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and proficiency in using a variety of hand tools for precise disassembly, inspection, and maintenance tasks. Documentation & Communication: Excellent written communication skills, with experience in technical writing, including the creation and maintenance of SOPs, work instructions, and quality reports. Perform visual, dimensional, and functional quality inspections on incoming Li-ion battery packs and modules to ensure non-conforming material does not enter our recycling process. Work closely with production personnel during the disassembly process to verify adherence to quality and safety standards. Procedure Development & Documentation: Collaborate with production and engineering teams to develop and write clear, concise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for safe Li-ion battery disassembly and initial processing steps. Maintain and update quality records, inspection logs, and documentation systems in compliance with quality management standards. Safety & Compliance: Support and enforce strict adherence to quality management systems and internal safety standards. Crucially, a strong preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of Li-ion battery electrical safety protocols and high-voltage handling best practices. Job Summary: Under the direction of the Quality Manager, the Quality Technician (QT) will be an expert in the quality requirements of each production line as well as the quality system (APC). The QT must become fully proficient in understanding the quality standards, policies, APC systems, quality specifications, and ITM's (Information Training methods/SOP's). The QT is responsible for the accuracy and completeness of all quality checks and tests for the quality department as well as the proper reaction to the test results including effectively communicating with the team members, team leader, or manager as applicable. This position monitors and maintains all department equipment in a manner that provides for safe and quality operations. The QT is accountable for the department quality requirements as well as problem solving and training on defects. The QT will be instrumental in communicating, problem solving, analyzing, and reacting to quality problems as they arise. The QT will work closely with the plant management staff, crew team members, and working independently when required. The QT will be a resource for trials, process improvement, and product improvement activities. Job Duties: Maintain safe working environment for team members and equipment. Perform quality checks and inspections per defined standard work. Achieve and sustain competency on all gauges and quality checks. React to the quality check results according to company guidelines. Train all rotating team members on all required quality checks and measurements. Ensure all quality checks are completed and documented correctly as per requirements. Perform test studies and special measurements as required. Attain and sustain good working knowledge of SPC, control charts, ITM's, quality policies, and plant instructions that pertain to quality. Ensure all HFI (Hold for Inspection) on their shift is properly documented and located and provide assistance and guidance to Team Leaders or Supervisors with regards to HFI. Ensure all housekeeping tasks are completed daily, weekly, and as required. Follow 5S standards for the quality lab, and any other plant area as applicable. Assist Operator Technicians and Team Leaders when the line is down as directed. Provide quality guidance and assistance to Team Leaders and Supervisors on off shifts and weekends. Perform duties and tasks as directed by the Quality Manager. Lead the quality department pass down briefings to the oncoming shift. Identify and replenish supplies of test solutions, cross section materials, and other quality consumables. Follow directions of Team Leader and Supervisor on the shift with respect to emergency situations and other critical operational issues. All other duties as assigned.     Under the direction of the Quality Engineer the Quality Technician is responsible to assist the Quality Engineer with communication and resolution of Customer Concerns, Internal Audits/Control Plan Audits, launch activities, PPAP studies and related activities, and gauge maintenance. It is also the duty of the Quality Technician to drive containment actions to ensure that the quality and integrity of the product shipping to our customers is maintained. Responsibilities/Duties: Assist the Quality Engineers with communication of Quality Concerns to all shifts of the production team. This includes but is not limited to ensuring that quality alerts are posted, training has been completed and operators and all production team members have a firm understanding of the intent and expectation of the alert The Quality Technician should aid Quality Inspectors in making a decision to accept/reject product. In the absence of the Quality Engineer, the Quality Technician has the authority to determine the acceptability of a part based on the documented requirements for the program, visual aids and knowledge of part history. When a decision is made, a sample part should be saved and provided to the Quality Engineer to make a new boundary sample. If a decision cannot be made, it is the responsibility of the Quality Technician to elevate the issue to the Quality Manager. The Quality Manager will consult with the Production Manager and Engineering Manager to make a final determination and give feedback to the team. Assist production personnel with the coordination of all sort activities including the gathering of data and communication back to the Quality Manager and all appropriate members of management Maintain organization of all non-production samples and nonconforming material It is the responsibility of the Quality Technician to communicate any and all quality, reliability or system concerns up the chain of command to drive resolution. This includes reporting all findings from sorts, first off/periodic inspections, quality audits, general observation, etc. Organize/Oversee sorts related to customer or internal concerns. Train all personnel performing a sort, collect all sort data and provide feedback to Quality, Production and Engineering on sort findings. Maintain all gauges for cleanliness and timely certification including the contracting of outside resources as needed SG-FO-621-002 It is the user's responsibility to verify latest revision. REV. 11-01-18 Verify the availability and usefulness of visual aids and boundary samples/standards. Work with Quality Engineer to develop new samples where needed Train all Manufacturing operators and Supervisors (all affected personnel) on Quality Alerts. Provide completed training documents to the responsible Quality Engineer. Ensure the intent of the Quality Alert is understood and verify required actions are in place. Work with Quality Engineer for clarification of requirements where needed. Ensure all Quality Alerts are up to date, current and posted at the point of use Perform internal audits and control plan audits as determined by the Internal Audit schedule Assist Quality Engineer by performing and coordinating the performance of Capability Studies and Gauge R&R's Assist the Quality Engineer in gathering data for internal trials and run at rates. Oversee the activities of Quality Inspectors.
