Quality Inspector - Reading, PA Hours 2:30pm - 11:00pm Monday through Friday This position performs quality functions for injection molding, light assembly, and warehouse operations. The Quality Inspector ensures product conformity to established requirements by evaluating product drawings, specifications and related documents. Activities include conducting receiving, in-process, and final product inspections, and documenting results in various reports/logs in the Quality System. This position may also interface with customers, suppliers and /or regulatory agencies as appropriate. Employee may perform other related duties as required to meet the ongoing needs of the organization. Essential Responsibilities: Conduct inspections at First Article, set-up approvals, in-process, in-coming and complete the final inspections in accordance with applicable Engineering criteria, documents, drawings and workmanship standards. Input and perform trending of key inspection process metrics Document and report inspection findings and results, also monitor corrective actions to inspection findings. Communicate findings and coordinate activities with production, tooling, and shipping/receiving staff. Perform inspections using Precision Measurement equipment/devices. Perform functional testing of assemble units. Ensure proper operation of measurement equipment by following operating instructions. Read and interpret specifications and part drawings. Perform product identification and traceability activities, as required. Assist Engineering and Operations in the investigation of non-conformities. Assist in training production staff in quality assurance techniques. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Maintain a safe and clean work environment by following guidelines, procedures, and comply with all applicable regulations. Work effectively in a team setting. Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned. Essential Skills: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one (1) year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Associates or Bachelor's degree in technical discipline preferred. Extensive knowledge of common inspection measuring equipment including, surface plates, micrometers, calipers, height gauges, radius gages, bore gauges, and dial indictors. Good manual dexterity and adept in use of precision measuring tools. Awareness of ISO9001, TS16949 & ISO13485 Quality management systems. Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Practices, Metrics and Reporting. Working knowledge of Statistical Techniques. Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's). Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of tools, Specifically Word, Excel, Power Point. ASQ Certification Preferred Ability to read and accurately interpret documents written in English such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, drawings, measuring instruments, work instruction, bills of material and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before management or employees of organization. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. The essential function of this position is to assist the Quality Control team with daily activities and ensure that all product meets customer specifications and to proactively prevent rejections. Rotational Full Time Shift: 3 Day & 4 Day Week: 6:00 PM - 5:30 AM Primary Function: The Quality Control Inspector will assist Quality Control Inspection Supervisor with all daily activities and to ensure that all product meets customer specifications. This position collaborates with the Quality Control Inspection Supervisor, and other warehouse personnel to proactively prevent rejections. This role leads internal audits across all locations, manages RMA and calibration programs for the PA site, supports NSF certification processes, and performs investigations into incoming and in-process quality issues. This position collaborates cross functionally to improve quality performance, maintain regulatory compliance, and support data-driven decision-making across production, supplier management, and customer feedback. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Serve as primary ISO 9001 internal audit lead for all facilities and supports the Director of Quality for the yearly registrar audit. Maintain and improve QMS documentation, procedures, and records for the PA facility. Coordinate NSF audit preparation and ongoing certification maintenance. Support customer, regulatory, and 3rd-party audits. XRF inspection of incoming brass to confirm lead-free. Issue certifications to customers for country of origin, Prop 65, AIS, etc. Lead corrective action (CAPA) activity for PA facility and support corporate CAPAs. Oversee supplier corrective actions and validate results as necessary. Manage and process RMA activity; coordinate disposition and root-cause actions. Support production operations regarding any quality issues and identify potential issues for preventative actions. Manages the calibration program for PA facility and coordinates external calibration vendors. Support containment, root cause analysis, and verification of effectiveness for corrective actions. Identify and drive improvements in inspection, audit, and documentation processes. Support continuous improvement initiatives. Assist with the maintenance of training records for the PA facility. Manages the shelf-life program for the facility. Process non-conformance reports. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position has no direct reports but may direct daily activities for both support and production personnel, or for trainees under the guidance of Management.
