**The Role**
This Engineer is responsible for executing System Safety development for GM Defense supporting multiple domains (propulsion, chassis, high voltage, etc.). You'll help develop the GM Defense system safety process, leveraging GM system safety processes and industry standards. The expected base salary range for this full-time position in California is $218,240 - $327,360 USD. The Role

Your Responsibilities:
Evaluate customer requirements for System Safety and determine vehicle compliance.
Conduct System Safety analyses to support safety mitigation recommendations for design solutions and design changes. Document analysis reports and recommendations.
Support System Engineering Department in the development of the System Specification
Document - Safety requirement management - definition, connectivity, traceability, validation.
Create Hazard Tracking System (HTS) and Preliminary and Functional Hazard Analysis (PHA & FHA) - as required, to determine compliance with contract and/or System Specification
Generate, as required, System Safety reports to be submitted to the Customer.
Manage end-to-end traceability of the Hazards mitigations for the assigned systems.
Create and manage Human/System Interface Databases, Hazard Logs, Risk Registers, and manage Hazard Tracking.
Work with the HW and SW engineers, identifying Safety hazards and mitigation strategy.
Your Experience:
Ability to obtain and maintain a US DoD Security Clearance
A bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering field.
An advanced degree is a plus+
A minimum of 12 years of relevant work experience is generally required.
Experience with CAMEO is a must
Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate SE concepts and recommendations to diverse audiences.
Desire to advance expertise in human-centered SE.
Ability to collaborate effectively and positively as part of a high-performing team.

Responsibilities:
In this role the ideal candidate will act as a network and think innovatively while executing the following responsibilities:
* Participate in line-up meetings with customers and analyze requests for quote.
* Assess a customer's specification package for correct application of commercial components and desired manufacturing process parameters.
* Process Engineering of automated and manual BIW and general industry assembly systems that require one or any combination of technologies used in modern manufacturing systems. (ie: fastening, resistance welding, riveting, mig welding, clinching, adhesives and sealers in the areas of BIW, Battery Tray assembly & general assembly).
* Utilize man/machine cycle time charts to evaluate and verify systems to ensure process capability. The ability to assess and compile tooling and equipment content.
* Create technical solution, generate presentations & documentation, and review quotation.
* In conjunction with Sales present the technical proposal to the customer.

This role is best suited for a candidate that possess the following qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
* High School diploma, GED or the equivalent
* Minimum of 3 years Mechanical System Layout Design, Robotic Process Simulation or Proposal Development of industrial production system automation systems,
* Basic CAD skills and the ability to develop process solutions per customer product decks, create system layouts and process flows.
* A working knowledge of Microsoft Office or Google Suite tools.
* Ability and willingness to travel domestically (0 - 20%)
Preferred Qualifications:
* Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Technical field
* Minimum of 5 years of Mechanical System Layout Design, Robotic Simulation, Process Engineering or Proposal Development.
* Strong communication and presentation skills.
