The Geosystems Research Institute (GRI) at Mississippi State University is seeking a motivated Assistant/Associate Research Professor with demonstrated experience and expertise in machine learning and advanced data analytics techniques to lead applied research efforts in agriculture, conservation, and related fields. The research professor will lead funded research projects and be expected to seek new funding opportunities. The successful candidate will be involved in group, as well as lead single PI, research projects. The Research Associate will be dedicated to the successful implementation and execution of a 5-year project aimed at investigating the climate impact of conservation agriculture practices, primarily cover cropping. The incumbent will collect greenhouse gas emission data from on-farm locations across the Mississippi Delta and assist with collecting and analyzing soil samples and crop data. This full-time Research Associate position is based at the National Center for Alluvial Aquifer Research at the Delta Research and Extension Center, Stoneville, MS. The individual must be able to assume responsibility, carry out directed research, work independently with minimal supervision, and work cooperatively with other team members and collaborators.
