The Life Science Research Professional 2 at Stanford University's Ross Laboratory conducts complex experiments focused on stem cell biology and cancer research. The role involves independent project work, experimental design, data analysis, protocol development, and supervision of staff or students. The Ross Laboratory at Stanford University is seeking a Life Science Research Professional 2 to perform more complex functions and activities involved in defined research projects, and independently conduct a portion of the research project(s). The Ross Laboratory is led by Jason Ross, MD, PhD, and is situated within the Stanford University School of Medicine's Department of Radiation Oncology. The laboratory studies normal and malignant stem cells in the context of aging and cancer.
As an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Stanford Cancer Institute is a dynamic and stimulating place to work as it maintains the highest level of scientific rigor, institutional support and coordination for the complete range of cancer-related research, including basic, translational, clinical and population-based science.
Duties include:
Independently conduct a portion of the research project(s). Make recommendations on experimental design and/or research direction to principal investigator.
Independently conduct complex (lab and/or field) experiments to gather data for a portion of a major research project.
Interpret and analyze results, often where few guidelines exist, and make modifications to existing procedures and protocols.
Develop new research protocols where appropriate protocols are not described in the literature or where modification or adaptation of standard procedures and protocols is required.
Participate in multidisciplinary teams across different faculties or schools.
Perform ongoing literature review to remain current with new procedures and related research; apply to ongoing research and development of new protocols.
Contribute substantively to the preparation of papers for publication, especially in the results section, and to publication of findings. Present ongoing work to colleagues and/or academic conferences.
Oversee supply and equipment budget under supervision of principal investigator or business manager.
Work with health and safety department to ensure lab complies with regulations and all required trainings.
Supervise (either formally or informally) staff or students as needed, including oversight and direction on techniques, as well as consultation on project work. Serve as a technical resource for other research staff.
Oversee the daily activities of the laboratory including lab maintenance; maintain lab stock, manage chemical inventory and safety records, and provide general lab support as needed. May assist with purchasing laboratory equipment.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Background in stem cell biology, cancer biology, and/or immunology.
Expertise with molecular biology techniques such as DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, qPCR, CRISPR/Cas9, and/or cloning.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Organized and capable of maintaining detailed experimental records.
Able to: operate a computer and software; including knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat; oversee lab maintenance, inventory, and ordering of supplies; supervise and/or train laboratory staff or students.
Experience in: drafting and maintaining IRB, IACUC, and/or laboratory safety protocols; tissue culture of human and mouse cell lines; mouse colony management, husbandry, and care; human and mouse tissue processing; GraphPad Prism, R, and FlowJo; flow-cytometry analysis and sorting.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):
Bachelor's degree in related scientific field and two years of relevant work experience; or Master's degree in a related scientific field.

Stanford University is seeking a Life Science Research Professional 1 to perform basic functions and activities involved in defined research projects, and independently conduct and analyze experiments. We search a dynamic person to join our group unraveling the biology of human brain tumors using functional biobanking and next-generation patient-derived cell line development. The LSRP will perform basic functions and activities involved in defined research projects, and independently conduct and analyze experiments and help with general lab organization.
Duties include*:
Plan approach to experiments in support of research projects in lab and/or field based on knowledge of scientific theory.
Independently conduct experiments; maintain detailed records of experiments and outcomes.
Apply the theories and methods of a life science discipline to interpret and perform analyses of experiment results; offer suggestions regarding modifications to procedures and protocols in collaboration with senior researcher.
Review literature on an ongoing basis to remain current with new procedures and apply learnings to related research.
Contribute to publication of findings as needed. Participate in the preparation of written documents, including procedures, presentations, and proposals.
Help with general lab maintenance as needed; maintain lab stock, manage chemical inventory and safety records, and provide general lab support as needed.
Assist with orientation and training of new staff or students on lab procedures or techniques.

The LSRP will be an integral member of a diverse and interdisciplinary research team determined to transform the study of biomolecular interactions and cellular epigenomes. Current priorities include exhaustive profiling and biophysical modeling of sequence landscapes for DNA binding proteins, and characterization of newly discovered and engineered CRISPR enzymes. Other projects in the lab include building a genome-level human cell atlas of gene expression and DNA accessibility and improving single-cell genomic technologies. More broadly, the Greenleaf lab joins the rest of the Genetics department in crafting sequencing- and big data-driven answers to longstanding questions regarding the physical basis of gene regulation and cellular differentiation.

The Cox laboratory at Stanford University School of Medicine seeks a full-time staff research scientist to accelerate the development of novel technologies for probing protein-RNA interactions at scale. Our laboratory aims to solve the fundamental challenge of predicting protein-RNA complex structures directly from sequence by integrating high-throughput experimental data with machine learning methods. In this role, you will perform professional research in support of our scientific mission. You will contribute to developing research goals for the laboratory, work collaboratively with the Lab Head to determine optimal research methods, and independently perform scientific procedures requiring professional judgment. Research & Technical Development:
Design, develop, and perform specialized experimental procedures for protein-RNA interaction studies, including high-throughput sequencing-based assays
