The research assistant is responsible for recruiting study subjects, data collection, and conducting supportive tasks that ensure successful research visits for study subjects. The research assistant will be trained to collect data including survey questionnaires, EEG acquisition, MRI scans with infants, babies, and children, biospecimen collection, biosensors collection, and behavioral assessments. Supportive tasks include providing support to additional family members during visits, planning and executing team or board meetings, and preparing for data collection. Responsibilities: Recruit research participants for the study at local OBGYN Clinics, Substance Use Treatment Centers, community events, and other community partner agencies Perform inventory of all study supplies and work with Project Manager to reorder when necessary. The Psychophysiology Lab for Affective Neuroscience ( PLAN ; ********************************************** ) in the University of Tulsa's Department of Psychology seeks candidates for a 2 full-time Research Assistant Professors ( RAP ) who will report to the director of the lab (Jamie Rhudy, PhD). Each position comes with salary, benefits, research space, and startup funds. Successful candidates will spend 25% of their time working on an NIH / NCCIH funded project that investigates the role of structural racism and discrimination ( SRD ) in the Native American chronic pain inequity. The remaining 75% of time will be spent developing their own successful line of research and stream of external funding under the umbrella of a new initiative to develop a center to combat health inequities. The RAPs will work closely with Dr. Jamie Rhudy (PI), Co-Is (Joanna Shadlow, PhD, Travis Lowe, PhD), and other PLAN researchers. Advanced training will be provided in psychophysiological assessment of stress and pain (e.g., EEG , EMG , EKG , respiration, skin conductance), quantitative sensory testing (e.g., temporal summation, conditioned pain modulation, contact heat evoked potentials), as well as blood (HbA1c, hs- CRP , lipids) and salivary (cortisol) biomarkers of allostatic load. The RAPs have the option of being involved with all aspects of the NIH -funded study. The project is approved by the University of Tulsa, Cherokee Nation, and Indian Health Service-Oklahoma City area office IRBs. The Helmerich Center for American Research will offer five short-term fellowships for the 2025-26 academic year. Fellowships are available for pre-and post-doctoral research or independent research with a stipend of $2,500 for United States residents and $3,000 for international residents from July 2025-June 2026. The length of the research visits are between two weeks and one month. Individuals who live within 70 miles of the center and who are not employed by The University of Tulsa are eligible to apply for one-month fellowships, with a stipend of $1,000.
