CERM rodman job description

Hold level or stadia rod at designated points to assist in determining elevations and laying out stakes for map making, construction, mining, land, and other surveys

Perform manual labor, such as cutting brush for lines, carrying stakes, rebar, and other heavy items, and stacking rods

Keep truck clean inside/outside and maintains truck supplies (stakes, irons, spikes, paint, etc.) on an as-needed basis
Provide assistance in the development of methods and procedures for conducting field surveys Call out reading or writes station number and reading in notebook Mark points of measurement with elevation, station number, or other identifying mark Measure distance between survey points with steel tape, cloth tape or electronic instruments Mark measuring points with keel (marking crayon), points sticks, scratches, tacks, or stakes Place stakes at designated points and drives them into ground at specific elevation Record survey measurements and descriptive data using notes, drawings, sketches, and inked tracings Search for section corners, property irons, and survey points Perform other duties as directed by Crew Chief and/or professional surveyor

Required Experience



MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:



Education and Experience:


High school diploma/General Equivalency Diploma(GED) Entry level position, no experience required. Willing to train the right candidate.


LICENSURES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND REGISTRATIONS:


Valid Georgia Driver's License and maintain a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) that meets company policy standards Certified Survey Technician Level I preferred



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


Frequently required to stand and talk or hear Frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel or crouch Occasionally required to sit Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus



WORK ENVIRONMENT:


Frequently works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions May occasionally be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat
