- Performs pre-inspection and post-inspection activities to ensure proper operating conditions, adherence to prescribed Department of Transportation standards, and compliance with proper safety standards

Essential Job Functions

* Must have ability to understand highway traffic and signals, understand a road map, respond to official questions, and be able to make legible entries on reports and records.
* Remain alert and give full attention to traffic, weather, and road conditions at all times while driving. Do not distract yourself or others, or allow yourself to be distracted by conversations with or amongst others. Always be professional, courteous, and diplomatic. Speak clearly and directly to be understood when communicating with others.
* Maintain the order and discipline of passengers. Instruct riders regarding being responsible passengers. Exercise extreme caution during loading and unloading of passengers. Take steps to prevent unauthorized individuals from entry on the bus.

Make arrangements to cover your job responsibilities and participants in your care if you must excuse yourself. Cell phone use is prohibited while driving. Immediately notify your supervisor if you are going to be late or absent. Make arrangements to cover your shift when you are unable to report to work or fulfill your job responsibilities.
