SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Route Driver delivers tooling, parts, and other materials between KMC's multiple facilities on a daily basis, based off of a predetermined schedule. The position would also assist in loading/unloading material onto or from pallets, trays, shelves, or trucks. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time. Drives vehicle to destinations according to daily schedule to deliver tooling, parts, and other materials to KMC's multiple facility sites and other predetermined locations. Responsible for inspecting vehicle for defects before and after trips, reporting discrepancies to supervisor, as well as performing some preventative maintenance tasks on the vehicle. Loads, unloads, inspects, and operates the vehicle in accordance with work instructions, DOT regulations, and other documentation in a safe and effective manner. Prepares materials for delivery which may include banding and wrapping of palletized parts, dies, tools, and other equipment as necessary. Verifies quantity, size, part numbers, and other required information to ensure materials are identified properly. Maintains and ensures vehicle's cleanliness. Completes required paperwork, records and prepares shipping documents. Adheres to all KMC and OSHA safety related work rules and procedures. Other duties as assigned or required. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or abilities required. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and minimum of one year related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience operating forklifts, straight, and box trucks preferred. Possess a valid driver's license and clean driving record. Ability to safely operate vehicles and forklifts in a variety of weather and traffic conditions. Proficient computer skills Possess effective time management and organizational skills. Ability to read, write, comprehend instructions and shipping documents. Ability to prepare job related paperwork. Ability to effectively communicate with other employees throughout the organization.
