The Senior Director leads the Product Development team in strategy and delivery of world class products for our customers. You'll leverage your deep experience in and passion for healthcare, technology, and solving customer problems to develop and drive product roadmaps and product teams that help bring to life some of healthcare's most promising opportunities in digital health, patient experience, personalized care, and healthcare operations.

As an experienced healthcare technology product leader you will focus relentlessly on customer needs to establish and continuously update the vision and strategy for your product areas. You will work extensively with data, market analyses, patients or user researchers, clinicians, executives, data scientists, information technology professionals, and operations leaders to define the problems, opportunities, objectives, and desired outcomes that your products address. Working backwards from the target outcomes, you'll drive definition and development of the product capabilities and features that are most effective and feasible, while constantly pushing the envelope toward strategic innovation and forward-thinking approaches.

The Senior Director of Product Development has proven success executing highly complex or specialized products, as well as managing product teams across a program or portfolio of products. You adapt precedents and are comfortable making significant departures from traditional approaches to develop remarkable solutions. You're a skilled facilitator and influencer who guides cross-functional teams in executing the principles of Agile product development. You are a servant leader to your teams and colleagues, setting the example, clearing roadblocks, facilitating team learning and growth, and ensuring continuously improving processes to maximize remarkable, timely, and quality solutions.

Also, as a Digital Products and Services team member you are responsible for securely managing information systems throughout their lifecycle, including knowing what information systems are within your scope of responsibility, understanding what sensitive data is stored, transmitted, or processed on those information systems, enforcing the security principles of least privilege, knowing what events may constitute a cybersecurity incident, and understanding your role in security incident response activities.

Qualifications

* Education: Bachelors Degree, required. Graduate Degree, preferred.
* Experience: 15+ years in Technology Product Development/Management, required; with at least 7 years in the Healthcare industry.
* Licensure/Certification: Current or prior Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Certified Product Owner (CPO), and/or Project Management Professional (PMP), required.
* Additional skills (required): Business analysis, user-centered design / design thinking, product development, project management, budget management, and team leadership experience required. Strong technology skills and experience delivering cloud-native products required.
* Additional skills (preferred): Ability to travel to Novant leadership meetings as needed (approximately 1-2 times per year).

In this exciting role as a Sr Product Development Director, you will have primary responsibility for cross functional planning and execution of creating a new therapy in a new disease segment for Medtronic, including developing a fully implantable system, multiple research systems supporting clinical studies, and creating a modern digital health ecosystem. You will be responsible for delivering a winning cadence of innovation and accelerating new product introductions in this new segment. This includes leading and managing all activities required to define, design, develop and deliver new medical device products and services for this new disease segment. In your role, you will establish program priorities, implement clear operating mechanisms that organize partnering functions, and drive program execution to meet customer needs and financial goals of the business. You will create and uphold a high-performance culture with customer focus, creative and determined problem solving, partnership and candor. You will collaborate with various functions across the Operating Unit, including but not limited to Research and Development, Clinical, Regulatory Affairs, Quality, Operations, and Marketing, to drive global market access and adoption of a new class III implantable electrical stimulation therapy worldwide. You will report directly to the VP of New Therapies and contribute directly to developing and advancing the new business's broader set of strategies and goals.

A Day in The Life

• Directs, designs and implements a comprehensive product management strategy. Establishes detailed program plans, drives execution toward established objectives, assesses risk and implements strategies to ensure successful delivery of the product portfolio from concept to commercialization.
• Guides cross-functional core team members and program managers that formally report into functions supporting the new business.
• Gain a deep understanding of customers' needs and responds in delivering a winning portfolio of new innovations.
• Promote and embody culture and behavior expectations of a high-performance culture. Selects, develops, and evaluates team talent to ensure high performance.

• Drives leadership of issue identification and resolution
• Ensures effective transition to relevant manufacturing, distribution, and commercial entities.
• Formulates and executes long-term plans for cost/profit control.
• Travel up to 20%.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required
• Minimum of 15 years of relevant product development, engineering, operations, program management, commercial, or product management experience or at least 13 years of relevant product development, engineering, operations, program management, commercial, or product management experience with an advanced degree
• Minimum of 10 years of managerial experience

Nice to Have

• MBA or MS Mgmt degree.
• Demonstrated expertise of creating and commercializing a new therapy, including execution through multiple clinical trials.
• Domain expertise in implantable medical devices.
• Demonstrated strong business acumen and planning.
• Demonstrated excellent downward, lateral, and upward communication skills (oral/presentation and written).
• Demonstrated strong interpersonal, quantitative analysis, and problem solving skills.
• Demonstrated high degree of initiative and influence management skills.
• Demonstrated track record of successfully leading projects to completion with aggressive timelines.
• Operating experience in a matrix organization, including experience working cross-functionally.
