As a Sr. Mobility Terminal System Engineer, you will be responsible for mobile terminal architecture, integration, and validation with hardware, software, and firmware. You will work in a collaborative environment with a multi-disciplinary team.
Key job responsibilities
In this role, your responsibilities include:
Develop mobile terminal architecture by working closely with sub-system engineers in electrical, RF, antenna, thermal, modem, DSP, ASIC, algorithm, firmware, modeling, and software
Design tradeoffs of various terminal architectures, including RF and performance simulations to support tradeoff decisions
Develop the mobility lab so aviation, maritime, and automotive terminals can be validated both in lab environments and with LEO satellites
Proactively engage with internal and external development partners on systems' hardware and software architectures and implementation
Ensure delivered work meets technical, functional, performance, regulatory, and business requirements
Perform in-field and on-orbit validation with satellites
Traveling up to 10% of the time, depending on project phases
Export Control Requirement:

A day in the life
As a Sr. Mobility Terminal System Engineer on the Leo Customer Terminal (CT) team, you will work daily with electrical, hardware, RF, antenna, silicon, and product design engineers, as well as software and operations teams in a collaborative environment. Your focus will be on architecting, integrating, and validating the mobility terminal's system-level performance so it can be successfully productized for aviation, maritime, and automotive customers.
About the team
The Leo Customer Terminal team is responsible for developing both outdoor & indoor devices, enabling customers internet service via the Leo satellite network. We own the entire process from early prototypes through mass production including requirements documents, architecture definition, hardware development, and all integration/verification testing.
Basic Qualifications
Experience defining system architectures and exploring technical feasibility tradeoffs
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, physics, or other relevant engineering discipline
5+ years of satellite terminal development, integration, and validation experience
3+ years of hardware design and validation of components and subsystems experience
Strong understanding of communication systems, RF, and phased array antenna
Experience in MATLAB, Python or C++
Familiarity with test instruments such as oscilloscope, spectrum analyzers, vector signal analyzers, vector signal generators, channel emulators, network emulators, and GNSS emulators
Experience in developing complex telecommunication, antenna, and/or satellite communication systems
Experience in developing mobility terminals
Preferred Qualifications
Master's or PhD degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or other relevant engineering discipline
Knowledge of digital communication systems, error correction, synchronization, spread spectrum, single and multi-carrier techniques, and modulation types such as QPSK, APSK, and QAM
Experience working with mobility satellite terminals such as maritime, aeronautical, and automotive
Understanding of free space communication and satellite link budget principles in Ka-band
Experience in developing simulation and modeling tools
Familiarity with active and passive RF components, EE hardware, beamforming circuits, and electromagnetic propagation
Satellite over-the-air communication field trial experience
Debugging skills for systems integration from RF front end to baseband
Design experience with high-speed digital and/or RF circuitry in collaboration with various teams

In this role, you will help verify SystemVerilog IP for a wireless SoC using primarily simulation-based verification methodologies. RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and maintain simulation-based verification environments for SystemVerilog RTL (UVM and/or cocotb-based flows).
Create scalable testbenches, drivers/monitors, scoreboards, reference models, and coverage (functional/code) to validate IP and SoC behavior.
Build and execute constrained-random and directed tests; debug failures across RTL, testbench, and tool flows.
Define verification plans, coverage goals, and bring-up strategies in collaboration with design and architecture.
Drive regressions and continuous integration for verification, including test triage, automation, and reporting.
Contribute to verification best practices (assertions, checkers, reuse, documentation) across the Core Platform.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
BS/MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
3+ years of digital verification experience (or equivalent), including verification of non-trivial IP blocks and/or SoCs.
Strong SystemVerilog skills and comfort reading/debugging RTL.
Solid scripting ability (Python, bash/tcl) for test automation and tooling.
Hands-on experience with at least one simulation-based verification methodology:
UVM (SystemVerilog class-based verification), and/or
cocotb (Python-based verification) or similar framework, with modern verification practices.
Proficiency debugging simulation issues (waveforms, logs, assertions) and working with common EDA simulators.
Experience verifying complex systems (multi-clock domains, bus fabrics, interrupts, DMA, low-power states, or similar SoC features).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Verification experience at the SoC/integration level (subsystem assembly, interconnect, register maps, firmware-driven scenarios).
Experience with AXI/AHB/APB or similar standard on-chip bus protocols.
Experience with formal verification concepts, SystemVerilog Assertions (SVA), or lint/CDC/RDC tools.
Familiarity with CI infrastructure for regressions (e.g., GitHub Actions), and managing large regression suites.
Experience collaborating across design/verification/firmware to reproduce and root-cause silicon-facing issues.

You are able to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team in creating software requirements
You have the ability to architect, design, and implement embedded firmware for our Radar Sensor
You can work collaboratively with radar algorithm, hardware, FPGA and mechanical engineers to build reliable embedded firmware for the payload
You are able to assist in Hardware-aware optimizations of algorithms targeting Embedded Processors, Edge Compute, and ground-based servers
You have experience evaluating implementation/maintenance, complexity and resource requirements (compute, memory, power). Produce trade-studies to support decision making
You are able to generate test plans and methods to test software on hardware platforms so that they meet end-user needs/expectations.
You are comfortable assisting in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring additional teammates to our rapidly growing team
Requirements of the Role:
BS or MS degree in engineering, computer science, or related field
8+ years of experience in embedded firmware development (ideally radar)
Good understanding of one or more of the following: Board Support Package, Operating Systems, Bootloader, Microcontrollers
Comfortable with Git, CI, Code Reviews, and Version Control and organized enough to be productive in a lean startup environment
Experience with C/C++
Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret/SCI security clearance
Bonus if candidates have experience and skills in the following areas:
Experience with satellites or spacecraft systems
Experience with multi-threaded system concepts including tasks, priorities, and deadlocks
Embedded firmware debugging experience including clock level issues, interrupts, and hardware interfaces
Experience with embedded designs with multiple processors and peripheral interfaces (SPI, UART, GPIO, I2C, Ethernet)
Experience implementing efficient, low latency data movement between FPGAs, processors, storage devices, and networking interfaces
Working knowledge of networking stacks (Ethernet, TCP/IP)
Ability to read schematic diagrams
An active or previously held US Government TS/SCI security clearance is considered a strong plus.
