Performs work in several trades including general construction, maintenance, or repairs in a manner consistent with accepted practices, under the direction of the Facilities Director. The class works within a general outline of work to be performed and requires minimal supervision. The tasks below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the class as necessary. May perform all levels of: * Plumbing repair, replacement, and new work to include fixtures, fittings, lines, etc. * Carpentry repair, replacement, and new work to include framing, doors, windows, etc. * May perform minor electrical repair, replacement, and new work to include lighting, switches, receptacles, etc. * Masonry repair, replacement, and new work to include sidewalks, driveways, drainage structures, etc. * May perform welding and small engine repair. * All levels of painting applications, preparation of surfaces, scaffolding, etc. * Preventive maintenance to include air conditioning equipment. May oversee inmate crews in assignments of basic construction. Operates equipment safely. Uses hand tools and operates motorized tools. Loads and unloads equipment and materials. Sets up safe work zones and ensures safety precautions on and around the work sites. Provides regular progress reports to Facilities Director. Responds to emergency situations. (NRSS) is seeking a Roadway Worker In Charge (RWIC) to support railroad flagging services for Class 1 Railroads, Regional Short Lines, Transit Systems, State DOT's, as well as Railroad Suppliers, Contractors, and Consultants alike. Required Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent. Required Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience with a Class 1 Railroad, Regional Short Line, Transit System, State DOT Rail Division, Railroad Supplier, Railroad Contractor, and/or Railroad Consultant; preferably within the Maintenance Of Way (MOW) Department.
