Responsibilities:

Advanced knowledge and skill in passenger automobiles diagnostics including using a diagnostic tree, performing testing procedures to discover the cause (and repairs needed) to correct a customer's complaint.
Advanced knowledge, ability, and skill in performing mechanical repairs and services on passenger automobiles including removing and reinstalling of parts and doing service procedures.
Knowledge and skill of how to perform a thorough inspection on a passenger automobile for the purpose of finding service and repairs needed based on the miles and condition of the vehicle.
Ability to clearly communicate in English with others verbally and in various written forms. Ability to communicate in written form both with hand-written communication and typed communication.
Ability and knowledge of how to use a computer and diagnostic tools to diagnose vehicles, look up repair instructions, and access Customer Management Software. This includes the ability to view a monitor, and use touch screens, mice and keyboards.
Ability to lift more than 50 lbs. without assistance.
Ability to stand for periods of up to 60 min at a time.
Skilled and able to perform basic counting and math.
Ability to perform major and fine motor skill movements using the body to perform the necessary actions to complete a repair, service, vehicle inspection, or shop cleaning activity. This also includes the ability to reach overhead, push, pull, bend down, stoop, and other major body movements.

Your Daily Impact (essential functions):
Assembly & Build: The ability to construct mechanical systems or components based on blueprints, technical specifications, or instructions. This includes following proper torque specs, sequences, and ensuring all parts are correctly installed.

Lubrication & Fluid Handling: Managing lubrication and fluids critical to machinery operation. Includes applying grease/oil, checking and replacing fluids, and recognizing signs of leaks or contamination.
Maintenance Advising: The ability to communicate clearly with equipment users about maintenance needs, care techniques, and best practices to prevent premature wear or breakdowns.
Auxiliary Repairs: Performing additional or specialized repair tasks such as hydraulic system maintenance, painting, electrical fixes, or minor body work that fall outside core mechanical repairs.
Heavy Equipment: Familiarity with servicing and repairing large machinery such as sweepers, loaders, backhoes, and other industrial vehicles. Involves understanding their systems and operating conditions.
Regular & Predictable Attendance: The ability to consistently report to work on time and as scheduled, with minimal unexcused absences. This includes being present and prepared to work throughout assigned shifts, and reliably adhering to start times, breaks, and end times.
Qualifications:
8+ years of proven experience as a level A Mechanic is preferred
Strong knowledge of machinery, hydraulic, electrical, and other mechanical systems
Skilled in using hand tools, shop tools, and precision measurement tools (e.g., calipers)
Ability to follow established procedures, read instruction manuals, and wiring schematics
Must have basic hand tools for daily use
Commitment to adhering to health and safety regulations

**Job Purpose**
As a Mechanic C, you are an entry level technician and will assume a role of familiarizing yourself with product knowledge and standards of quality within the branch. Mechanic C's will learn the standard operating procedures at the branch, region, and national level to grow their career to higher leveled mechanics. The primary focus of a Herc Rentals Mechanic C is to utilize their mechanical training to contribute to fleet maintenance operations needed to keep Herc Rentals equipment on the rental "ready line". This goal can be achieved safely and professionally through an effective preventative and corrective maintenance program
**What you will do...**
+ Follow a consistent schedule of performing preventative maintenance of all Herc owned fleet at your branch
+ Operate and test equipment to ensure it passes Herc Rentals quality and efficiency standards
+ Perform routine maintenance and repairs on all Herc fleet equipment and trucks under direct supervision
+ Diagnose small tools and light rental equipment with assistance from senior mechanics
+ Perform major repairs to maintain fleet equipment using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and measuring instruments under direct supervision
+ Conduct oil changes, lubrication of equipment, tire replacements, hose repairs, battery replacements and assorted services
+ Enter work orders and complete part ordering via fleet management system
+ Assist in reconditioning and replacing assorted parts of the heavy equipment
+ Learn what is covered and not covered by warranties
+ Maintain work area in a clean and organized manner
+ Produce timely and detailed service reports and repair logs
+ Follow all company's filed procedures and protocols
+ Perform additional duties as assigned
**Requirements**
+ Accredited education in heavy equipment repair or 1 year of experience in lieu of
+ Ownership of sufficient selection of hand and air/electric tools to complete most repairs and services preferred
+ Ability to safely lift up to 50 LBs
**Skills**
+ Some knowledge in electrical and hydraulic systems and willing to learn how to read schematics
+ Ability to operate and test equipment such as boom lifts, forklifts, compressors, portable and stationary generators, hydraulics, pumps and assorted tools and equipment
+ Computer skills to support entering information into systems
+ Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently
+ Ability to drive/operate multiple types of vehicles and equipment

A Holmes Lumber (a division of Carter Lumber) Diesel Mechanic is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of various types of equipment and items. This includes working on semis, trailers, skid-steers, forklifts, small equipment, and golf carts. Occasionally, you'll also be responsible for small fabrication jobs. A strong belief in the mission and goals of the company are necessary to this position.

Responsibilities:
Facility Maintenance
Will have to be able to keep and maintain proper records and inventory of parts and supplies used on each job. At times, must be able to order parts and be self-sufficient to take ownership of some jobs or tasks.
Will be responsible for the upkeep and cleanliness of the shop, breakroom, bathroom, and the area in or around the building.
Certain repairs and upkeep items are the responsibility of the shop to maintain.
Housekeeping and self-motivation to keep a safe and clean working area is a must.
Will be reporting to a shop supervisor who will assist in all daily tasks to maintain a safe working environment and help with any technical issues or problems that may arise.
Equipment Maintenance
Scope of work includes PM preventive maintenance services, wheel seals, hydraulic repairs, air/hydraulic brake work, charging/cooling systems, driveline repairs, electrical work, entry to mid-level engine repairs, small metal fabrication jobs, DOT inspections, HVAC, and diagnosing vehicle faults with computer software.
Safety
Will be expected to execute a plan prior to performing work or tasks to safely complete each task with the involvement of others around you.
Must be able to maintain a positive mentality as the environment includes interaction with others in close quarters and sometimes in a fast-paced setting.
Must be willing to take guidance and follow safety protocols and procedures put in place by the company or any manager/supervisor.
Will have to interact with multiple employees to help identify issues that arise daily.
Must be proactive in looking ahead if a situation appears unsafe and help maintain a safe working environment.
Physical Requirements:
Must be mechanically inclined.
Ability to stand and/or walk for up to 4 hours consistently across various surfaces.

Position Overview:
The Line Lead is a front-line supervisor role, responsible for directly managing and developing a team of hourly associates in an Inspection Center to regularly achieve production targets. This role is not visa eligible.
What you'll be doing:
Manage the movement of cars into and out of the Inspection Center safely for repairs, while meeting or exceeding set production and quality goals.
Meet or exceed inventory production goals on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
