This strategic leadership role involves overseeing multiple engineering teams, fostering innovation in an Azure Cloud environment, and ensuring alignment with business objectives through Agile methodologies. Reporting directly to the SVP of Technology, you will collaborate with executive peers, product owners, and key stakeholders to translate vision into executable roadmaps. With a focus on both onshore and nearshore teams, this position demands a blend of technical expertise, people leadership, and cross-functional communication to deliver exceptional results in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.
Responsibilities:
Lead and mentor multiple softwareengineering teams (onshore and nearshore), including hiring, performance management, and professional development to build high-performing, diverse groups.
Oversee the full software development lifecycle using Agile practices, ensuring timely delivery of robust, secure applications in an Azure Cloud ecosystem powered by Azure DevOps and Azure DevOps Pipelines.
Collaborate with other Directors of SoftwareEngineering, product owners, and stakeholders to define technical roadmaps, prioritize features, and resolve dependencies across projects.
Drive technical strategy, including architecture design, scalability planning, and integration of emerging technologies to support UDT's managed services and client solutions.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and accountability, implementing metrics for code quality, deployment velocity, and team productivity.
Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences, providing regular updates to the SVP of Technology and executive leadership on progress, risks, and opportunities.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, security best practices, and Azure-specific governance to mitigate risks in cloud-based deployments.
Partner with cross-functional teams (e.g., sales, operations, cybersecurity) to align engineering efforts with business goals and client needs.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, SoftwareEngineering, or a related field (Master's preferred).
10+ years of progressive experience in software development or technology roles, with demonstrated expertise in full-stack development, cloud architecture, and system design.
3+ years of leadership experience managingengineering teams, including distributed (onshore/nearshore) models and scaling from small to large group sizes.
Deep proficiency in Agile/Scrum methodologies, with hands-on experience leading sprints, retrospectives, and Azure DevOps Pipelines.
Strong comfort and practical knowledge of Microsoft Azure Cloud services, including Azure DevOps, App Services, Kubernetes, and security features.
Proven track record of stakeholder management, including communicating technical strategies to executives, product teams, and external partners.
Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity in a high-growth environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in managed IT services, cybersecurity, or education technology sectors.
Advanced expertise with Azure DevOps for work tracking, source control, and CI/CD pipeline orchestration.
Certification in Azure (e.g., AZ-400 DevOps Expert, AZ-305 Solution Architect) or Agile (e.g., SAFe Agilist).
