The Solar Energy Conversion Group within the Chemical Sciences and Engineering division is seeking applicants for post-doctoral associate positions in the areas of: synthesis of molecular catalysts and metal clusters, molecular surface immobilization strategies, electro- and photochemical analysis of molecular complexes and thin films, analysis of catalytic mechanisms, and X-ray scattering and spectroscopy characterization methods of molecular assemblies and thin films.
This work will support fundamental research programs aimed at:
1) Understanding the light-absorption and catalytic activity of newly discovered few-atom inorganic cluster complexes using experimental and theoretical methods.
2) The mechanisms and activity of molecular complexes for electrocatalytic water remediation approaches. Characterization of light- and redox-driven reaction pathways and structural dynamics in these new molecular materials will be accomplished by steady-state and time-resolved optical absorbance spectroscopy, electrochemical methods, and X-ray scattering and spectroscopy analyses at the Advanced Photon Source.
**Position Requirements**
+ Considerable knowledge of and experimental expertise in multistep, air-sensitive organic/inorganic syntheses, purification techniques, and standard characterization methods.
+ Demonstrated experience in synthesis and characterization of transition-metal coordination compounds, new ligand structures, and/or inorganic clusters by scientific publications in relevant journals is desired
