USPI Hill Country Ambulatory Surgery Center is seeking a motivated Endoscopy Technician to join our team. We have 1 OR room and 3 Procedure rooms. We perform outpatient surgical procedures in Gastroenterology. Position requires weekdays only -- no holidays, weekends, or call. Some early mornings and later evenings may be required; schedule subject to change based on surgical schedule and flow of the day. Job Summary: The Endo Tech assists endoscopy team during endoscopy procedures. They arrange and inventory sterile set-up for operation and passes items as needed to the endoscopy team. Assists in preparing and moving patients, and in cleaning the endoscopy room. The Endo Tech is responsible for the provision of care to meet identified patient outcomes and to achieve the goals of the facility as directed by the Registered Nurse. Provides a centralized distribution and control of supplies and equipment to the facility. The tech also stores prepared articles and supplies in designated areas. Maintains and tracks inventory according to facility procedures. This position reports to the Charge Nurse and ASC Director. Responsibilities: * Perform all nursing duties in accordance with the state Nursing Practice Act, while adhering to all facility policies and procedures. * Actively demonstrate a working knowledge of nursing theory, techniques, principles, and practice in order to care for the patient. * Perform routine nursing care while utilizing age specific and universal precaution practices at all times Monitor patient progress and identifies any changes in status, acting on those changes to insure patient comfort and safety. * Assist physicians and all healthcare professionals caring for patient, always giving a complete and thorough report on patient status throughout procedure process. * Communicate with all staff, patients, and families with excellent written and verbal skills. * Consistently seek educational tools in order to broaden knowledge base of various age groups, diseases, and best practices. * Collaborates with the Infection Control Committee in preventing and identifying potential for infections. * Supports and demonstrates continuous improvement of quality and service excellence. * May perform other tasks as assigned. #LI-CM1

The Certified Endoscopy Technician serves as a member of the healthcare team and provides technical support to the surgeon, endoscopy nurse, and anesthesiologist in the procedure room. The Endoscopy Tech assumes appropriate responsibilities in the intraoperative area by preparing and maintaining the instruments and equipment used in endoscopic procedures including calibration of endoscopes and other related equipment according to facility standards. They may also assist the RN circulator, setting up and breaking down endoscopic procedures, pulling and putting away supplies and equipment, and environmental service duties. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensure proper supplies, equipment, and instruments are ready for use. Ensure patient, procedure, operative site, positioning and equipment correspond. Knowledge of surgeon preferences, procedures, instrumentation, and equipment. May operate designated endoscopic equipment. Pass instruments to surgeon and/or assistant as appropriate. Communicate needs to circulators to ensure efficient and uninterrupted progress of procedure. Prepare and preserve specimens. Verify name, strength, and dosage of medication with circulator; confirms, labels, and places on surgical field. Follow the center exposure control plans/blood borne and airborne pathogens. Maintain integrity of instruments. Clean and disinfect all tables, counter surfaces, stands, and floor. Restock procedure rooms as necessary to meet par levels. Assist other procedures rooms for coverage. Prepare cases for next day. May help transport patient. Perform other duties as assigned EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: High school diploma or equivalent Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology (Center dependent) Graduate of SGNA's Associates Program BLS (as required by individual ASC policy) PREFERRED One year of current Surgical Tech experience in an OR setting.

Reprocessing endoscopy scopes per ANSI/AAMI Standards proper endoscope handling procedures for leak testing, cleaning, inspecting, disinfecting, sterilizing, packaging, and storing each specific endoscope make and model, including equipment and equipment connections identification of items that are single use and intended to be discarded after use; all aspects of decontamination (e.g., disassembly, manual and mechanical cleaning methods and how to monitor their effectiveness, microbicidal processes, equipment operation, inspection, standard precautions, and engineering and work practice controls); the operation of the specific manual and mechanical cleaning processes and equipment, manual and mechanical HLD processes, and sterilizing systems used by the health care facility, and the methods and equipment used to verify operation facility and processing area policies and procedures regarding high-level disinfection and sterilization, infection prevention and control, attire, hand hygiene, and compliance with local, state, and/or federal regulations; workplace safety related to chemical use and biological hazards OSHA standards and requirements; Applicable personnel exposure monitoring specific to chemicals used; Recognizing and responding to exposure-related symptoms (e.g., difficulty breathing, skin irritation, eye tearing, mucous membrane irritation); Location and correct use of PPE; Location and use of SDS; Location and use of chemical spill kit(s); and Workplace-specific policies and procedures related to endoscope processing, high-level disinfection, and sterilization; the process of leak testing when indicated in the manufacturer's written IFU; the process of obtaining and documenting quality control monitoring results; the process for visual inspection of endoscopes using lighted magnification and the use, care, and handling of a borescope; the process for cleaning verification procedures, including method(s) for conducting the testing and interpreting the results; and the process for removing a damaged endoscope from service and sending it for repair. Sterilizes and prepares rooms and equipment, such as scopes, before and after procedures as directed. Demonstrating understanding of the patient's an atomy and abnormalities which could affect the procedure. Recognizes emergent situations during endoscopy procedures and demonstrates the ability to set priorities to assist the endoscopy team. Assists with therapeutic interventions such as balloon dilations, polypectomy, sphincterotomy, stent placement, and gastrostomy tube placement. Coordinates review of special-order supply inventory and ensures rooms are stocked for next day procedures. Independently completes annual competencies and any additional competencies related to new procedures.
