Actively participates in the role of preceptor for student Sterile processing technicians and assists with the development of new preceptors in their role. Mentors and role models quest for continuous learning through formal education and the development of others. Seeks opportunities to share expertise with other members of the healthcare team within and beyond the clinical unit/department. + Collects, stores and arranges for permanent storage of required records + Displays awareness of cost containment in the organization of work by using economy in time, motion and material. Disseminates new knowledge and innovations through presentations, posters, and publications. + High School Graduate or equivalent. + Two years of central sterile processing experience required OR Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technician/Sterile Processing program with one year of central sterile processing experience required. + Annual Project Required. + Must complete 10 hours of continuing education to remain qualified as a Central Sterile Technician on an annual basis. + Must be able to stand for all shift hours and be able to pick up, push, pull etc. 35 pounds. **Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:** Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution or Certified Registered Central Service Technician or International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management certification required in our PA and NY facilities (MD is excluded). + Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution OR Certified Registered Central Service Technician with Healthcare Sterile Processing Association OR International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management + Act 34 **UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran**
