What you'll do:
Assists the OR staff in the organization and daily function of the operating room in accordance with established Federal, State and accreditation standards and center policies and procedures. Responsible for instrument decontamination, sterile processing, and instrument care and handling and documentation and record keeping related to those activities. Coordinates and follows through with all instrument training and equipment repairs. Trains new staff how to work in the varying areas of the department. Acts as a SPD role model for customer service, professional conduct and leadership. In addition to sterile processing responsibilities, will provide a combination of janitorial and patient care services assisting with the preparation and turnover of daily surgical procedures in conjunction with other members of the surgical team and will also ensure that the operating rooms are cleaned before, during and after surgery.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Accountable for the delivery of quality patient care in the Operating Room.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a High School or GED. Preferred Qualifications:
1- 2 years Central Service or Surgical Processing. Basic knowledge of aseptic techniques and procedures, sterilization techniques and procedures, infection control and work flow principles and requirements, equipment and supply processing. Demonstrated knowledge of all medical and surgical equipment and supplies within a Hospital setting and the ability to identify items and ensure accuracy against catalog listing of surgical instruments and equipment. Exercises responsible judgment to provide necessary supplies and equipment for patient care. Familiarity with a variety of surgical equipment, including but not limited to: dental, optometry/ophthalmology, orthopedics, neurosurgery, gastroenterology, ENT, GYN, cardiology, dermatology, urology, podiatry, and general surgery.

THE OPPORTUNITY AT HAND
We are seeking a detail oriented and experienced Sterile Processing Technician to join our surgery center team. You will be responsible for decontaminating, sterilizing, and preparing surgical instruments, trays, and equipment used at the Center. Retrieves, disburses and tracks medical and surgical supplies and equipment to the customer in a quality/timely manner.
Knows, uses, maintains and operates the equipment specific to CP, i.e. steam, Sterrad, OER-Pro, sterilizers; cart washers; washer/disinfectors, ultrasonic cleaners and heat sealers as well as a variety of testing devices.
Knows and uses the processes involved in ordering, receiving, stocking, rotating delivering and monitoring usage of surgical supplies. Communicates supply issues to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
Environmental Standards; Maintains a clean orderly work area. Completes assigned housekeeping duties.
Serves as a resource to customers on all Central Processing functions.
Performs other related job duties as required. Tracks his/her progress and compliance in regards to training, staff meeting and in-service education, etc.

Responsible for the appropriate handling and processing of Contaminated Instruments and equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a High School or GED. Certified and Registered Central Service Technician (HSPA) OR Certification from the Certification for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD). *Provisional certification is acceptable. 400 hours of on-hands training will need to be achieved prior to expiration of the provisional certification.

Demonstrated knowledge of all medical and surgical equipment and supplies within a hospital setting and the ability to identify items and ensure accuracy against catalog listing of surgical instruments and equipment.
