General Definition and Scope of Job The Central Processing Department (CPD) Technician is responsible for decontaminating and sterilizing instruments, medical supplies, and equipment. They monitor biological and chemical wash solution to ensure quality and consistency for decontamination process. They verify that equipment functions properly, completes requisitions for equipment maintenance, repair or replacement and removes defective equipment when necessary. The CPD Tech collects, sorts, and distributes sets of instruments, trays, crash carts, and medical equipment and makes them available to hospital departments in a timely manner.
