What you will do

Under minimal supervision, completes assigned programming, commissioning, troubleshooting and preventive maintenance of fire / security systems per contract obligations.

How you will do it

* Generates solutions to systems problems, either troubleshooting the system or advising others on how to resolve problems. Requires understanding of core and third party fire / security products, software and systems / electrical technology.
* Assists in performing required commissioning documentation. Provide accurate information for as-builts documentation.
* Adheres to safety standards and local and national codes, with a high degree of regard to employee and subcontractor safety.
* Proficient in using voltmeter and reading wiring diagrams/schematics
* Able to troubleshoot access control and CCTV/IP cameras issues
* Maintains appropriate local and National Fire / Security Industry Certifications (NICET).
* Communicates with customer upon arrival and before leaving the work site. Continuous proactive customer interactions including an in-depth understanding of customer(s) needs wants and systems currently in place.
* Assists in monitoring project execution per plan. Reports problems or changes to supervisor or management.
* Completes paperwork and on site documentation as required.
* Performs self-study (reading, research, and practice) to obtain technical proficiency on required products and application.
* Performs other duties as assigned

The Configuration Management Member will support engineering configuration management of Power and Propulsion Systems. The candidate will regularly engage with engineers located in Endicott, NY. Job responsibilities for the position include:
Job Description:

* Responsible and accountable for all matters pertaining to program configuration management. Ensures compliance with company and program policies. Reviews technical requirements and develops program-specific Configuration Management Plan(s) as required.

* Directs the resolution of all configuration management issues relating to program contractual requirements and company policies and procedures. Prepares/oversees the publication and acceptance of Configuration Management process documentation.
* Devises new techniques and approaches, their application and required parameters, in the solution of a wide variety of complex Configuration Management problems.
* Generates configuration management inputs to program cost proposals, ensuring that all configuration management contractual requirements are satisfied, costed and realistically scheduled.
* Establishes and maintains an effective working relationship with BAE Systems customers and their representatives. Prepares and presents status reports for configuration management activities as requested during customer and company program reviews. Performs all necessary interface and communication with customers, subcontractors, and program team members.
* Reviews functional plans and technical data items relating to product definition to ensure all configuration management requirements have been addressed and properly integrated within the requirements defined within the Program Configuration Management Plan(s).
* Coordinates the evaluation, approval/disapproval and implementation of configuration changes throughout the life cycle of assigned programs.
* Supports all internal and customer conducted configuration audits for assigned programs.
* Mentors junior hardware configuration management specialists in tool usage and process execution. Demonstrates thorough expertise in hardware configuration management processes and/or tool usage.
* Responsible for creating the departmental metrics.
* Maintains current knowledge and proactively advocates configuration management tool and process best practices. Maintains knowledge across an area of generic Configuration Management specialization and is cognizant of developments in other related areas. May serve as departmental representative to process improvement teams.
* Ensure compliance with proprietary and export marking requirements.
* Serve as Configuration Management representative for internal and external audits such as FAA audits for Configuration Control and Change Process compliance and export compliance audits.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

* Exercises discretion and independent judgment in the performance of duties while complying with policies, procedures, appropriate principles and applicable state and federal laws and regulations
* Communicates effectively both orally and in writing
* Exhibits sound interpersonal skills involving interfacing, coordinating and negotiating with company personnel, customers, suppliers and auditors
* Utilize computer skills to prepare appropriate reports and documents
* Highly motivated and able to develop, disseminate and drive long range goals.
* Analyze, evaluate, develop and implement processes and systems within budget and schedule
* Demonstrated functional knowledge of hardware and software configuration management tools, best practices, and industry standards.
* Demonstrated ability to advise or direct project teams on proper configuration control for major programs or multiple smaller programs.
* Ability to think strategically about configuration management in support of engineering design and product support, and to lead process improvement projects to through to implementation.
* Minimum of high school diploma with 3 years relevant work experience
