San Bernardino County technologist trainee job description

The Land Use Services Department is recruiting for Land Use Technicianswho process a variety of planning, building, and other development related permit applications, provide information to the public, and perform field investigations for the Department. Incumbents in this classification review development and construction plans for completeness, accuracy, and conformance to regulations; may travel to field sites to gather, research, or verify information; research and compile legal, statistical, demographic, environmental, and historical data; and write reports for a land use team. Additionally, positions may process a variety of special use permit applications related to allowed residential/commercial activities and ensure continued compatibility with surrounding properties.

Trainees work under close supervision while receiving training and acquiring the knowledge and abilities necessary for promotion to Land Use Technician ($49,296- $67,766 annually).

Positions exist in Planning, Building and Safety, and Code Enforcement Divisions. The eligible list may be used to fill vacancies in all divisions throughout the County as they arise.

THE DEPARTMENT

The San Bernardino Countyis geographically the largest in the United States and the twelfth largest in population. We are currently in the midst of historic change as our leaders have adopted a Countywide Vision that sets an inspiring course for our future. With a 2020-21 County Budget exceeding $5 billion, and a highly professional management team, the County is moving the vision to reality, with the Land Use Services Department performing key strategic roles.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

1) Applicants must successfully pass a background check prior to appointment. 2) Travel throughout the County may be required. Employees will be required to make provision for transportation. At the time of hire, a valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced for the individual providing the transportation and must be maintained. 3) Land Use Technician Trainees are eligible for promotion to Land Use Technician upon meeting job requirements and receiving a satisfactory work progress report, and must qualify for promotion within 12 months or be terminated.

Minimum Requirements

EXPERIENCE (must meet one of the following Options):

OPTION 1: Six (6 ) months of experience working in San Bernardino County Land Use Services.

OPTION 2: One (1) year of experience assisting the public with processing permits and applications or explaining rules and regulations of a public agency, reviewing parcel maps or conducting research related to community development.

OPTION 3: Fifteen (15) semester (or 23 quarter) units of completed college coursework in urban development, building inspection technology, code enforcement, land surveying or a closely relatedfield. A list of related coursework must be submitted with the application.

Alliance Material Handling technologist trainee job description

The Technician Trainee Program seeks to train mechanically minded in individuals who, upon successful completion of the 18-month program, will begin an exciting career with Alliance Material Handling as a Road Technician. We are seeking individuals from the automotive industry, technical/trade schools, and/or military organizations.

This is a paid, full-time training program which will be comprised of classroom training, hands on shop training, and on the road mentorship. All trainees will become forklift operator certified, Crown and PM certified. All trainees are eligible for health care and retirement benefits.
Phase 1 Training:

Operator Training, Safety, Lift Truck Basics, PMs, Electrical, Hydraulics, Traction and Steering Systems

On the Road Shadowing

LP Fuel Systems, Transmission, PE4500 Repairs, Specialty Lines, Laydown/Standup, Battery & Charger Training

Training Phase 2:

Dependent on progress review, Trainees will receive company van, cell phone, tablet and start to go out on the road on their own

Trainees join PM Team

After 18 months of employment, the Technician Trainees will have their final evaluation to see if they are able move into a Field Service Technician role and complete the Training Program.

Requirements

All Road Technicians will be traveling to and working at customer facilities, interacting and communicating with customers to keep their equipment operating safely and efficiently

Road Technicians are responsible for providing the best possible service, maintenance, diagnosis and repair on customer and company equipment

The job of Road Technician is physically demanding and requires the ability to work in a variety of awkward positions while repairing forklifts and any other job related machinery

Must have manual dexterity and strength to handle parts, tools and equipment.

The job also requires the ability to lift up to 100 pounds

All Technicians must have their own tools and a good driving record
