The University of California, Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC ANR) offers a unique recruitment opportunity for an Irrigation and Nutrient Management Education Program Coordinator, Academic Coordinator II. UC ANR operates a statewide network of researchers, educators and support staff dedicated to the development and application of knowledge to address local agricultural, environmental and community health issues. Research, outreach and education from locally based Cooperative Extension offices serves all 58 counties from 70+ locations throughout the state. Purpose:
The Irrigation and Nutrient Management Education Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, developing, and delivering educational programs on irrigation and nutrient management for growers, irrigators, and farm workers in the Central Coast region of California. This position provides objective information about irrigation and nutrient management and promotes sound decision making to reduce nutrient leaching and runoff. This position serves as the Irrigation and Nutrient Management Education Program Coordinator in the Central Coast region of California interacting with regional regulators, outreach and service providers including but not limited to Regional Water Quality Control Board, Water Quality Coalitions, RCDs, and growers, irrigators, and farm workers. The Coordinator assists the Central Coast farming community with their educational and technical assistance needs related to irrigation and nutrient management. In addition, the Coordinator supports train-the-trainer needs of individuals who must train field workers and irrigators.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
The Academic Coordinator will:
Coordinate UCCE one-on-one technical assistance to farmers on the Central Coast to evaluate irrigation system efficiency and provide diagnostics, reports and recommendations to growers.
Coordinate outreach and educational efforts such as field days, extension workshops, tailgate meetings, demonstration sites, social media, webinars, and video recordings.
Prepare English/Spanish webinar training curriculum and training materials for annual irrigation and nutrient management workshops.
Prepare in-person training curriculum and training materials for annual irrigation and nutrient management workshops offered in Mandarin.
Prepare in-person training curriculum and training materials for annual Crop Manage workshops.
Prepare and translate electronic newsletters on irrigation and nutrient management topics into Spanish and coordinate translation into Mandarin.
Develop and translate educational factsheets on irrigation and nutrient management into Spanish and coordinate translation into Mandarin.
Work with project team and lead efforts to develop an irrigation and nutrient management resources website.
Prepare high quality written and attractive materials including: proposals and grant reports; program and project impact statements; blog posts, reports, briefings, executive summaries, and brochures; and posters and presentations.
Measure and evaluate outreach outcomes and impacts.
Maintain documentation of outreach activities including agendas, minutes, reports, and other documents.
Counties of Responsibility: This position will be headquartered at UCCE Monterey or Santa Clara County.
Reporting Relationship: The Academic Coordinator will serve under the administrative and programmatic guidance of the UCCE Santa Clara County Small Farms & Specialty Crops Advisor with additional programmatic guidance provided by the UCCE Monterey County Irrigation and Water Resource Advisor.

Required Qualifications
Education: A minimum of a Master's degree in an appropriate field related to irrigation and nutrient management is required at the time of appointment.
Additional Requirements
Proficient bilingual communication/translation abilities in English and Spanish, both spoken and written communications.
In-depth knowledge of state and regional irrigation and water quality regulations including ILRP and SGMA.
Ability to communicate and extend technical information to audiences with widely varying levels of literacy and language limitations, using audience-appropriate techniques.
Ability to work with people with disparate views and values, to motivate people, and adapt to changing situations.
Literacy in online communications and with software to support extension education programs.
Ability to secure extramural funds to support the program.
Strong background in outreach and education.
Ability and means to travel on a flexible schedule as needed, proof of liability and property damage insurance on vehicle used is required. Must possess or obtain a valid California Driver's License to drive a County or University vehicle.
This is not a remote position. The candidate must be available to work onsite. In accordance with UC ANR Flexible Work Guidelines flexible work agreements are available upon approval by supervisors and periodic re-evaluation.

The University of California, Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC ANR) invites applications for a UC Cooperative Extension (UCCE) Specialist at the Assistant Rank.
California's outdoor recreation economy is the largest in the United States. According to the Bureau of Economic Analysis, California's outdoor recreation activities led the nation in value, accounting for 2.1 percent of the state's GDP in 2023-approximately $81.5 billion, which encompassed more than 545,000 jobs and $38.1 billion in earnings. Activities include boating and fishing, cycling, climbing, hunting and shooting, winter snow sports, equestrian activities, recreational aviation, OHV/ATV use, recreational vehicles, and more. Sales of consumer goods, travel, and tourism expenses, as well as the cost of participating in outdoor recreational activities, all generate spending that contributes significantly to federal, state, and local tax revenue. This economic impact is particularly significant for rural gateway communities, where outdoor recreation and tourism-related activities comprise a substantial portion of local economic activity. Outdoor recreation economies are interconnected with multiple community domains, including strategic planning, workforce and economic development, infrastructure, small business support, housing, creative and knowledge economies, arts and culture, food and entertainment, youth development, and health and wellness.
The Specialist will balance opportunities and impacts of outdoor recreation and tourism, spanning infrastructure, natural resources, environmental stewardship, and sustainable, equitable economic development. With expertise across these domains and in facilitating collaborative approaches to community problem-solving, Cooperative Extension is well-positioned to help communities manage and leverage their outdoor recreation and tourism assets. This Specialist will work in a unique role at the intersection of community economic development and outdoor recreation and tourism through an innovative research and extension program. In collaboration with academics, public agencies, and partners from the non-profit and private sectors, they will build capacity across California to foster outdoor recreation and tourism opportunities, as well as their benefits to local economies. The Specialist will work closely with UC ANR's Community Economic Development Program Area to develop statewide and local plans for sustainably enhancing California's outdoor recreation and tourism industries.
UC Cooperative Extension (UCCE) Specialists develop and conduct research and educational programs tailored to specific clientele groups in communities outside of UC campuses. UCCE Specialists have programs primarily focused on mission-oriented research or creative work that supports the university's efforts to extend knowledge, including outreach and community engagement. Mission-oriented research encompasses the entire research continuum, extending from basic research to the application of research results. This research is generally applied in nature and has as its goal finding solutions to problems facing society that are related to the mission of the UCCE Specialist's discipline and the UCCE mission. UCCE Specialists publish the results of applied research in a combination of peer-reviewed publications and stakeholder-facing materials, including refereed journals, technical reports, and white papers, tailored to the needs of the audiences their programs serve.
The extension program disseminates knowledge and information to clientele groups to help them better understand and address problems and opportunities they face. The extension educational program serves the University's public service mission. Educational program activities include, but are not limited to, collaborations with UCCE Advisors, other UCCE Specialists, campus faculty, program teams, workgroups, or clientele groups; developing and presenting educational materials; communicating to clientele through broadcast, print, or electronic media; participating in meetings with clientele; developing and presenting in-service training courses; organizing or participating in workshops, field tours, symposia or conferences. Much of this work is conducted in partnership with UC ANR's locally based UCCE Advisors. The UCCE Specialist - Advisor and faculty partnership creates an applied research network that benefits both the University and the public at large. This position does not include formal classroom instruction at the University.
Location Headquarters. The Specialist will be based at the UC ANR headquarters, at 2801 2nd Street in Davis, CA, with the potential to explore opportunities at the Governor's Office of Business and Economic Development (Go-Biz) headquarters in Sacramento, CA.
Position Details
This position will provide critical technical support to enhance community and economic development research, planning, and project implementation related to outdoor recreation and sustainable tourism.
Major duties and responsibilities include:
Develop and implement a collaborative research, education, and outreach program to build and strengthen California's outdoor recreation and tourism economy.
Conduct applied research on topics such as:
o Best practices in Destination Management and sustainable tourism strategies
o Develop toolkits, case studies, and other tools that communities can use to maximize their outdoor recreation and tourism opportunities for collaborative partnerships, infrastructure, small business, and workforce development
o Innovative public and private financing and policy mechanisms for outdoor recreation infrastructure and small business development, community and economic development incentives and land use practices, community benefits, workforce development, and other measures
o Develop economic, workforce, visitor and tourism profiles and data tools and strategic planning methods to support local planning collaboratives, set baselines and track progress
Provide research and data support for local partners to create baseline and performance assessments of economic, community, and environmental indicators that support understanding of tourism and visitor activities and profiles, industry and business conditions, outdoor recreation infrastructure and stakeholder assets, labor and workforce conditions, and environmental and natural resources impacts in the context of sustainable recreation and tourism.
Develop and support strategic planning and capacity to implement sustainable recreation and tourism development projects, working with multiple community partners, state and federal agencies (particularly land managers and parks), private sector partners like Chambers of Commerce and Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs) and industry associations, educational institutions, and community-based organizations, like outdoor recreation user groups and advocacy organizations.
Work with tribal partners, Latino communities, and other underrepresented communities as partners in planning for sustainable recreation and tourism.
Support fund development, grantmaking, incentives, and policy measures that promise to enhance regional business activity, improve quality of life (including placemaking, arts and creative economy, main street revitalization), and mitigate environmental impacts that result from activities in the tourism and recreation economy.
Extend knowledge on outdoor recreation and tourism through different modalities and approaches, which may include extension publications, newsletters, web pages, blogs, policy briefs, UCCE Advisor meetings, on-site visits to partner locations, and clientele workshops.
Collaborate with UCCE Advisors and Specialists, UC ANR statewide programs, institutes, program teams and the newly established Outdoor Recreation Institute to develop statewide and local plans for developing California's outdoor recreation and tourism industries.
Publish in relevant UCANR outlets and external peer-reviewed journals appropriate for the field of outdoor recreation.
Counties of Responsibility: This statewide position will support California communities and their outdoor recreation and tourism economies. This is an exciting opportunity to impact diverse stakeholders throughout the state.
Reporting Relationship: UC ANR will oversee the merit and promotion process, consistent with other UC ANR CE Specialists. It is not a remote position; the candidate must be available to work onsite at the UC ANR headquarters in Davis, CA.
Qualifications and Skills Required
Education: A minimum of a Ph.D. (or international equivalent) in community economic development, business, tourism and recreation, outdoor recreation, economics, public administration, public policy, urban planning, rural sociology, landscape architecture, natural resource management, environmental studies, or a closely related field is required at the time of appointment. Applicants who have not yet earned a Ph.D. must be within 12 months of completing their degree to be considered for the position.

At least two years of professional experience in program administration and with multi-stakeholder partnerships
Professional experience in community economic development or outdoor recreation and tourism
Strong publication record in academic journal literature, as well as community-oriented fact sheets, research briefs, white papers, etc.

Ability and means to travel on a flexible schedule as needed, proof of liability, and property damage insurance on the vehicle used are required. Must possess or obtain a valid California Driver's License to drive a university vehicle.

Salary: The beginning salary will be in the Assistant Cooperative Extension Specialist Rank Step 1- $90,600 to Step 6 - $118, 500 annually. The Cooperative Extension Specialist position is a two-year renewable term appointment. Performance in this position is evaluated annually, with merit actions being evaluated every two years. Upon completion of a successful review, you may be reappointed for another definite term. Our intention with this definite-term appointment is to be reappointed based on positive performance reviews and the continuing need for the position.

Program Liaison and Coordination:
Manage the 4-H youth development program (YDP), events and activities and ensure compliance with best practices of positive youth development, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) best practices, policy and procedure. The University of California, Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC ANR) invites applications for a UC Cooperative Extension (UCCE) Environmental Horticulture Advisor at the Assistant rank serving Marin, Napa, and Sonoma Counties.
The Environmental Horticulture Advisor is responsible for educational and applied research programs covering a wide array of disciplines for Marin, Napa, and Sonoma Counties. Challenges faced in all three counties include maintaining water quality and supply, efficiently disposing of and recycling green waste, and reducing pesticide use in the face of an increasingly urbanized population of plant diseases and pests that impact the ecosystems and economies of the three-county area.
UCCE Advisors are responsible for conducting applied research and extending knowledge. Research activities are applied and mission-oriented, focused on addressing challenges in our communities. Extension activities are the educational methods that Advisors use to share research results directly with clientele and communities, increasing knowledge and understanding of science-based research that promotes the adoption of practices and technologies to solve local problems. Extension activities may include individual farm consultations, presentations, or organizing educational workshops, short courses, and field demonstrations. Information may also be disseminated through various channels, such as radio, webinars, fact sheets, policy briefs, news blogs, social media, and other outlets. Publications are expected in various formats, including newsletters, articles for the popular press, curricula, conference proceedings, and peer-reviewed journals.
Successful research and extension programs result in new information that improves knowledge or understanding, and eventual adoption of new skills or practices, changed attitudes or policies, and improved environmental, economic, or social conditions. Position Details
The Environmental Horticulture Advisor conducts collaborative extension education and applied research programs in Marin, Napa, and Sonoma Counties, in collaboration with other University/UCANR academics, staff, and local stakeholders. Research and education topics for this position cover a wide array of disciplines categorized under the heading of environmental horticulture, such as arboriculture, integrated pest management (including plant pathology, entomology, and invasive weeds), horticulture, soils, green waste recycling, irrigation, and residential defensible space for fire. Solutions are focused on community-oriented goals, including efforts to protect California's natural resources, build more resilient communities and landscapes, and develop a more qualified landscaping workforce in the Bay Area.
The Advisor supports a broad array of commercial tree care and landscape design and maintenance clientele to address local landscape and environmental needs and threats. They also collaborate and partner with professional organizations, local agency and government personnel, conservation groups, and other non-governmental organizations with information via consultation, technology transfer, communication, and liaison activities This position also assumes academic oversight for the UC Marin and Napa Master Gardener Programs, with an aim toward expanded understanding of science-based environmental horticulture practices for area property owners and managers. Position Overview
The University of California, Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC ANR) invites applications for a UC Cooperative Extension (UCCE) Area Advisor at the Assistant rank. The Advisor will develop an innovative multi-county applied research and extension education program supporting the large citrus industry in Tulare, Fresno, and Madera Counties.
The Advisor will develop problem-solving and educational programs for high-priority production issues related to climate and drought resilience in citrus, including warmer temperatures, decreased water availability, and decreased water quality. Research and extension solutions may include rootstock and cultivar selection, irrigation and soil management, and emerging innovative farming practices. Additionally, the incumbent will work on horticultural solutions to production challenges, integrating research and expertise from colleagues in agricultural engineering, irrigation, plant pathology, and entomology to address concerns such as limited and increasingly expensive inputs (labor, water, nutrients, etc.), the threat of huanglongbing disease (HLB), and other emerging pests and diseases. One of the most pressing concerns for citrus growers in the region is the implementation of the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA), which is reshaping how water is allocated and used. The advisor will help growers navigate the evolving water landscape while protecting crop productivity and quality.
UCCE Advisors are responsible for applied research and extension of knowledge. Research activities are applied, needs-based, and mission-oriented, focusing on addressing the challenges in our communities. Extension activities are the educational practices that Advisors use to share research results directly with clientele and communities to increase their knowledge and understanding of science-based research that supports and promotes the adoption of practices and technologies to solve problems. Extension methods may include individual consultations, presentations, organizing educational workshops and short courses, field demonstrations, farm visits, and site visits. Information may also be disseminated via radio outreach, webinars, fact sheets, policy briefs, news blogs, and social media. Publications are expected in various formats, such as newsletters, articles for the popular press, curricula, conference proceedings, and peer-reviewed publications. Successful research and extension programs result in new information that improves knowledge or understanding and adoption of new skills, practices, changed attitudes, policies, and improved environmental, health, agricultural, economic, and/or social conditions. UCCE Advisors are evaluated through an academic advancement system based on four criteria: extending knowledge, applied research and creative activity, professional competence and activity, and university and public service.
Location Headquarters: The position will be headquartered at the Tulare County Cooperative Extension Office, located at 4437 S. Laspina Street, Tulare, California, 93274.
Position Details
Sustaining citrus production in Tulare, Fresno, and Madera Counties is critical to the area's citrus growers, many of whom are small-scale family farmers. The three-county region represents approximately 58% of California's citrus acreage, adding billions to the area's economy, including thousands of jobs. Citrus is a high-value crop with potential to sustain rural agricultural economies in the decades to come. However, citrus crops face challenges that require local, on-the-ground, research-based solutions. The Advisor will conduct applied research on topics relevant to the citrus industry, based on a clientele needs assessment and the Advisor's expertise. Examples of potential research topics include:
Cultivar and rootstock development
High-density training systems and mechanical harvesting
Improved management of water resources in the face of increased drought and implementation of the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act
Strategies to improve the HLB resilience of citrus trees through plant nutrition, irrigation management, the use of plant growth regulators, and resistant cultivars and rootstocks
Climate-smart practices, including innovations in irrigation technology and improving soil-water-plant interactions
Research objectives should emphasize the development of orchard systems that conserve resources in compliance with state air and water regulations. Research results and knowledge are expected to be published in various UC ANR series, technical sheets, commodity board reports, and peer-reviewed journals.
The Advisor will conduct outreach to provide science-based information through workshops, field meetings, webinars, newsletters, industry and media outlets, phone calls, and online and social media tools, as appropriate for the target audiences. Extension efforts will need to cover basic information for small acreage and new growers, as well as cutting-edge information for more experienced growers.
In this highly collaborative role, the Advisor will work with UC ANR Program Teams, UCCE Specialists, and others in the UC ANR network, as well as external partners such as growers, industry organizations such as California Citrus Mutual, and local farm bureaus.
Counties of Responsibility. This position has programmatic responsibilities for citrus production in Tulare, Fresno, and Madera Counties.
Reporting Relationship: In this appointment, the incumbent will report directly to the UC Cooperative Extension Area Director for Kern, Kings, and Tulare Counties, with input from the Director of the Fresno/Madera Cooperative Extension unit. It is not a remote position; the candidate must be available to work onsite at the headquarters location in Tulare, CA, and travel to and be present in all counties served. Specific expectations for maintaining office hours and fieldwork in the geographic area covered by this position will be outlined upon hire by the supervisor(s).
Qualifications and Skills Required
Education: A minimum of a master's degree in horticulture, pomology, crop physiology, agroecology, plant nutrition, or a related field is required at the time of appointment.

Charles R. Drew University is located in the Watts-Willowbrook area of south Los Angeles and was founded in 1966 in the wake of the Watts uprising. CDU was founded to address inadequate medical care in the region and to provide equitable medical education opportunities for under-represented students.
CDU offers the only historically black Doctor of Medicine program west of the Mississippi and is strongly invested in the local and regional community. The university leads multiple partnerships and programs to provide equitable healthcare resources in a variety of South Los Angeles neighborhoods.
The primary responsibility of this position of, Director of Operations is to provide oversight and supervision of the day-to-day activities and ensure smooth operations within the College of Medicine (COM). Under the direction of the Dean, the incumbent is responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating the business operations functions, including budgeting, procurement, academic services, human resources, office activities, IT, space and events,consultant/contractor agreements, vendor management, facilities coordination, and event planning.
The incumbent will participate in the College's strategic planning with senior leaders and assist in preparing, collecting, and analyzing information relating to the success of CDU's new medical school.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Human Resources:
Supervise and train administrative staff and work-study students in the COM on CDU policies and proprietary
Generate position requisitions in accordance with University policy
Monitor and track the hiring lifecycle in collaboration with the University's Office of Human Resources
Serve as liaison between COM and the University's Office of Human Resources
Vendor/Contractor Relations:
Initiate and execute vendor/consultant contracts, source & procure vendors, target, identity, screen, and recruit prospective contractor/vendor partners.
Partner with CDU Legal, Finance, Risk Management & Human Resources to execute consulting agreements
Solicit bids for major projects
Evaluate vendor qualifications to ensure they meet contractual obligations and maintain compliance with University policy
Responsible for invoice development, management, and processing
Event Coordination:
Supervise coordinators and other responsible persons in managing COM events including planning, meeting deadlines, and budget demands
Nurture and build relationships with vendors, venues and other industry contacts to craft and implement creative and logistical aspects of all events.
Research resources, make site visits and facilitate pre and post-event meetings
Manage logistics for all events including contract negotiations, guests list, venue preparation, presentation materials, security, catering, entertainment, transportation, equipment, décor and marketing materials
Evaluate the event's success and prepare reports
Administration and Facilities:
Coordinate activities related to strategic priorities for the Dean's Office, such as the creation of new departments, institutes and centers
Provide administrative staff support (directly and/or through oversight of assigned staff) for key Dean's leadership and management committees
Manage special projects, programs and other special initiatives as assigned by the Dean, that relate to the College, as well as to the Dean's other senior leadership
Perform strategic, operational and financial analyses, tied to the educational, research and clinical missions of the College; oversee and direct selected administrative functions with the College as defined by the Dean, including ones dealing with facility planning and utilization, information technology, human resources, institutional research and budget preparation
Serve as negotiator, facilitator, liaison and/or intermediary to resolve internal or external administrative issues
Evaluate the efficiency of business procedures according to organizational objectives and develop standard operating procedures (SOP) for the COM
Compose and produce business correspondence, reports, and related materials
Coordinate use of space and facilities in response to faculty/staff needs
Project management, fundraising and development
Provide direct support to the COM Dean and faculty
Where needed, assist the Director of Administration and Finance with College financial reports
When generated from the Dean's Office, review stipends and travel reimbursements; procure capital equipment, supplies and other purchasing items in accordance with the established acquisition and financial policies
Where needed,
IT:
Provide COM IT services and supervise all CDU IT activities within COM
Manage Com's use of One45, Exxact and other software as needed .
Serve as the COM liaison to CDU IT

EDUCATION:

The UC Master Gardener Program is an educational program under UC ANR designed to teach and effectively extend information that addresses gardening needs in communities throughout the state of California and addresses the strategic initiatives of UC ANR. Since 1981, the UC Master Gardener Program has been extending UC Research-based information about home horticulture and pest management to the public. UC trained and certified Master Gardener volunteers offer services and outreach to the general public in 53 California counties through local UCCE offices. Last year 6,216 active UC Master Gardener volunteers donated 395,239 hours, and 7.7+ million hours have been donated since the program's inception.
Position Summary:
This position will enhance UC Master Gardener Program effectiveness through the development and management of in person and online trainings. Responsibilities include project management and oversight of statewide trainings, including online webinars, new coordinator and advisor onboarding, regional/statewide advanced training, triennial statewide conference, as well as training assets such as expert speaker database, hands-on activities to support eLearning, creation of toolkits, in-person instruction materials/support, and ongoing communication/relationship building with subject matter experts.
This position will work closely with the eLearning Specialist who will serve as lead for the Training Specialist. Working together, this team will ensure the effective integration of eLearning instruction into the program's training framework. They will spearhead the creation and execution of annual training plans, contributing to 5-year and strategic planning efforts pertaining to programmatic training and related support requirements.
They will inform the training budget for the statewide program, requiring financial stewardship to optimize resources while meeting training objectives effectively. Where possible, they will pursue funding and partnership opportunities to expand on existing and future training opportunities.
This position will nurture collaborative relationships within the UC Master Gardener statewide team and throughout the program community. This position is expected to be a subject matter expert in training methodologies and adult learning. They will engage with subject matter experts in horticulture, community engagement, volunteer engagement, IPM, and other program related fields.
This position is a career appointment that is 100% fixed.
The home department for this position is the Statewide Master Gardener Program. While this position normally is based in Davis, CA, this position is eligible for hybrid flexible work arrangements for applicants living in the State of California at this time. 📋 Minimum Requirements
High School Diploma or GED
Access to a mobile phone (for email) and basic internet (if working offsite)
Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and auto insurance with minimum 25/50k liability coverage
Ability to travel to multiple locations
Must pass a DOJ/FBI background check
Current TB Test (within the last 6 months)

Provide support in homes, schools, and clinics
Ability to work in settings with moderate to loud noise levels
Comfort working with individuals who may display a wide range of behaviors and needs
