Purpose
The Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) RN provides specialized nursing care for patients with mechanical circulatory support devices, primarily Left Ventricular Assist Devices (LVADs), used in the treatment of advanced heart failure. This role coordinates inpatient and outpatient care, including pre-implant education, post-operative management, and long-term follow-up. The VAD RN collaborates closely with cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, transplant coordinators, advanced practice providers, and other members of the multidisciplinary heart failure team. The position typically reports to the Director of Mechanical Circulatory Support.
Responsibilities
Coordinates VAD Patient Care
Manages care for patients pre- and post-VAD implantation.
Collaborates with medical team to assess candidacy and treatment plans.
Facilitates continuity of care across inpatient, outpatient, and community settings.
Coordinates readmissions and follow-up appointments.
Maintains detailed documentation and care plans.
Provides Patient and Family Education
Educates patients and caregivers on device operation and safety.
Develops and updates educational materials and protocols.
Conducts discharge planning and training for home care.
Verifies patient understanding of equipment and emergency procedures.
Supports psychosocial adaptation to life with a VAD.
Monitors Device Function and Patient Status
Assesses device parameters (flow, speed, PI, power) and patient vitals.
Identifies and responds to alarms, alerts, and complications.
Performs driveline site assessments and dressing changes.
Coordinates with technical support and device manufacturers.
Documents device performance and patient outcomes.
Collaborates with Multidisciplinary Team
Participates in clinical review meetings and care conferences.
Communicates with financial counselors regarding insurance coverage.
Coordinates with emergency services and long-term care providers.
Serves as a resource for internal and external healthcare professionals.
Supports regulatory compliance and quality initiatives.
Supports Program Development and Quality Improvement
Assists in developing protocols and workflows for VAD care.
Participates in data collection and reporting for regulatory bodies.
Contributes to community outreach and education efforts.
Engages in continuous professional development.
Supports research and innovation in heart failure care.
Provides On-Call and Emergency Support
Responds to urgent patient needs outside regular hours.
Troubleshoots device issues remotely or onsite.

Documents all on-call activities and outcomes.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Current RN license in the State of Texas or compact state
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
2 years of ICU or cardiac care experience.
Experience with mechanical circulatory support or heart failure patients preferred.
Relevant education or experience may be substituted.
Preferred Qualifications
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or related clinical field.
Certified Heart Failure Nurse (CHFN)
CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse)
VAD-specific training from device manufacturers (e.g., Abbott, AbioMed, Berlin Heart)
3+ years of experience in heart failure, transplant, or VAD coordination.
Prior experience with cardiac assist devices.

Job Description
We are seeking a Director of Donor Services for our client, a well-respected and nationally recognized not-for-profit corporation that conducts scholarship programs. This is a direct hire position and is full-time, onsite in Evanston, Illinois.
Our client is seeking a professional who will report directly to the Executive Director of Scholar and Donor Services. This individual will help manage the corporation's efforts to secure private financial contributions and will serve as the secondary department leadership role in conducting an inaugural multi-million-dollar fundraising campaign. As part of a small team that covers the entire United States, this individual will be expected to travel approximately 20% of the year and must be comfortable communicating with a variety of contacts including Scholars and corporate and foundation executives. This individual must have a strong work ethic, solid communication skills (both oral and written), and be self-motivated, well-organized, and work well both independently and with others in teams. The ideal candidate should have at least three years of practical related development experience including supervising a team and oversight of an overall fundraising function.

What You'll Do
Work with internal staff and corporate leadership to complete a major inaugural fundraising campaign

A leading national environmental and land development consulting firm is seeking an experienced Project Environmental Scientist, Geologist, Engineer, or Hydrogeologist to join their Chicago, IL office. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing environmental investigation and remediation projects, providing technical expertise, overseeing field operations, mentoring junior staff, and supporting client interactions across a variety of project types throughout the region.
Key Responsibilities
Manage environmental investigation, remediation, and due diligence projects from planning through execution.
Conduct complex quantitative and technical analyses for environmental and engineering studies.
Oversee field programs, ensuring accurate interpretation and documentation of findings.
Prepare, review, and edit technical reports, proposals, scopes of work, and regulatory submissions.
Support business development activities, including client meetings, proposal contributions, and identification of new opportunities.
Supervise, mentor, and train junior staff; assist with hiring as needed.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams across offices and technical groups.
Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders.
Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the firm's quality standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Environmental Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred).
PE, PG, or LEED AP preferred.
6+ years of relevant environmental consulting experience.
Proficiency in environmental due diligence, investigation methods, and regulatory compliance.
Experience with quantitative modelling, data analysis, and related software tools.
Current 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (or ability to obtain).
Strong written, verbal, and public communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, budgets, and timelines.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as required.
Willingness to work occasional evenings/weekends based on project needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Being thoroughly familiar and executing all policies outlined in the federal F.B.O.P. Statement of Work.
Completing with residents and individualized reentry plan
Providing case management reviews of reentry plan for a full caseload of RRC inmates/residents.
Developing and utilizing a network of community resources to assist inmates/residents in their re-integration into the community.
Checking Veritracks for those on HC
Communicating with federal officials and community resources on behalf of inmates/residents.
Conducting program orientation with new arrivals and their family when applicable.
Preparing and maintaining all appropriate paperwork such as reentry plans, progress and case notes, contact logs, terminal reports, monthly reports, special incidents, employment verification and release plans.
Monitoring a resident's progress to assist in reintegration through home visits and home confinement.
Maintaining a resident's file up to date with all required paperwork to include legal, financial, passes and case notes.
Conducting field work as assigned to verify inmates employment and residence.
Conducting monthly paycheck verifications for each inmate/resident.
Ensuring subsistence is properly collected and billing turned in each week and tracking payments. Turning in rent logs.
Collecting client subsistence.
Being involved in the discipline process: reporting, investigating, conduct hearings for inmates.
Completing assignments in a timely manner to include report.
Updating Emergency list on a weekly basis
Attend staff meetings and Case Manager meetings monthly.
Possess and maintain CPR/First Aid Certification.
Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Four-year degree in a social, human services, criminal justice or behavioral science program from accredited college or university. A minimum of one year of experience working in human services, corrections, or community-based services. Work experience may be substituted for academic studies exchange one year of work experience in a related field for one year of academic education. Total work experience needed in lieu of the combination of education and work experience is five years.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, write and speak in English; Spanish (or other languages) helpful. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedures manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
