**Job Description**
**Position Purpose:**
Provides day-to-day monitoring/operation of equipment, routine lab tests, and minor maintenance activities. Coordinates and monitors operational personnel in the operation of the facility at the direction of Project Manager; ensures effective plant performance and compliance with permit standards.
**Primary Duties/Responsibilities:**
+ Operates equipment manually and through instrument panels, computer terminals, and programmable logic control units in an assigned area.
+ Performs field tests (chemical, physical and biological) in order to pace chemical dosages for process and odor control units or alter unit processes.
+ Monitors and observes operating conditions, and records observations and data in area shift log; diagnoses basic operational problems and takes corrective action; and communicates status, changes, and abnormalities in operating areas.
+ Follows process control procedures for assigned areas; verifies and reports suspected malfunctions and variances to supervisor.
+ Prepares chemical solutions, and monitors process chemical supplies and recommends reorder.
+ Samples water, wastewater, sludge, and gases according to schedule, and services automatic samplers.
+ Performs routine lab tests and routine instrument calibration for portable meters.
+ Performs minor maintenance including routine preventive maintenance, lubrication, and minor adjustments; and performs basic troubleshooting of equipment, recommends solutions and, where appropriate, fills out work orders.
+ Operates vehicles for plant operational purposes.
+ Provides on-the-job training for Operator in Training and Operator I in operational, maintenance, and safety duties as required.
+ Assures work is performed in a safe and professional manner by following established safety, operating, and emergency response procedures.
+ Performs cleanup and housekeeping tasks for work area, tools, equipment, facilities, and grounds.
+ Performs the duties of Operator Supervisor and related duties as needed.
**Work Environment:**
+ Requires working in outside and inside environments with noise and all temperatures and climatic conditions, and must be able to work under adverse weather conditions for extended periods of time.
**Qualifications**
**Education/Experience/Background:**
+ High School Diploma/GED is required.
**Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:**
+ Must demonstrate a working ability to use computer programs for process controls.
+ Requires working knowledge of the methods, techniques, principles, and practices of water/wastewater treatment, as acquired through three years of experience.
+ Requires ability to diagnose plant-wide process problems and take remedial action, and to troubleshoot equipment.
+ Requires good reading, math, writing, and verbal communication skills; a scientific and mechanical aptitude; and the ability to read, interpret, and record data from meters, gauges, scales, panels, computer consoles, and other equipment.

**Required Certification/Licenses/Training:**
+ Must have a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
+ Must possess a MA Grade 6C Wastewater Operators license.
**Physical Requirements:**
+ Ability to perform tasks standing (25%) and walking (75%) for as many as five miles per shift.
+ Work positions including climbing stairs (60%), squatting, and working with hands extended above head 18 inches (25%) and 30 inches in front of body (10%).
+ Must be able to lift and carry 60 pounds while walking distances of 10 feet.
**Additional Information**
**Pay Rate:** $48.70 per hour.

Requirements:
5 years of experience as a Maintenance Manager at a large hauling district.

Outstanding teambuilding and communication skills.
Ability to plan, budget, schedule, and supervise multiple projects from concept to completion.
Strong knowledge of safety regulations, maintenance best practice, and industry standards.

Under the direction of Project Leader and the Deputy Leader work performed includes all correct maintenance at the plant and the stations. It also includes the day-to-day operations, and laboratory for the Rockland Wastewater Treatment facility. Work also includes maintaining the 13 pump stations and assisting the town in the collection system.
**Primary Duties/Responsibilities:**
+ In charge of the maintenance program: Enters data and closes data.
+ Performs preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on equipment according to vendor specifications. This includes but is not limited to lubrication, adjustments, oil changes, pump repair.
+ Inspects and troubleshoots equipment using tools of the trade.
+ Installs new or replacement mechanical systems and equipment. Prepares labor and material estimates to present to the project leader.
+ Performs mechanically related activities specified by work order like vibration analysis and nondestructive testing.
+ Welds, brazes, and solders using gas and electric equipment common to the trade.
+ Keeps track of the maintenance inventory and reports monthly that inventory to the project leader.
+ Prints out monthly maintenance reports to the project leader.
+ Operates and maintains project vehicles.
+ Maintaining safe and reliable operations of the wastewater treatment facilities and the pump stations ensuring operational compliance with state and federal regulations.
