    Job DescriptionSalary: $24.73/hour Maintenance Worker Department: Morivivi Residential Program Reports To:Morivivi Program Manager Classification:Full-Time, Non-Exempt Work Model: In-Person Compensation: $24.73/hour # of Positions: 1 The Violence Intervention Program (VIP)partners with Latinx communities to end gender-based violence. Created as a grassroots response to intimate partner violence and sexual assault, VIP has always centered survivors in its leadership and has worked to create a community of staff that reflects the rich national, ethnic and racial diversity of the communities it serves. VIP runs four non-residential social service programs, two residential shelter and housing programs, and a robust community engagement team. The Moriviv Residential Programis a 51-bed scattered site safe dwelling. The goal of this program is to provide short-term shelter for survivors of domestic violence and their children. Supportive services offered at Morivivi include individual counseling, support groups, case management, childrens services, housing advocacy, and referrals for educational/vocational facilities and job preparation. Morivivi promotes healing, empowerment, andself-sufficiency while providing asafe and supportive environmentfree from violence. The Maintenance Workeris responsible for performing the routine upkeep and extensive range of work in the repair and general maintenance of office buildings, safe dwellings and/or apartments; incl. surrounding grounds. The Maintenance Worker is under the direct supervision of the Morivivi Program Manager. The Maintenance Worker is on call for building/apartment emergencies 24 hours a day. Emergency issues include but are not limited to problems with gas, heat, hot water, flooding and/or lock issues. Essential Functions: Performing repair or general maintenance (Sweeping, mopping, waxing, garbage collection, etc.) work of VIPs office buildings, safe dwellings and/or apartments, and surrounding grounds. Overseeing the regular boiler/furnace and gas heat operations, calling for service when necessary. Repairing and treating structures such as showers, floors, sinks, walls, ceilings, and carpets. Performing minor repairs and troubleshooting, incl. new installations and replacing locks and/or keys. Monitoring exit signs and alarms on exit doors. Plumbing repairs as needed, including repair of leaks. Recommending repairs and necessity for outside contractors. Performing building repairs, such as plastering, painting, stripping floors, etc., including repairing and replacing electric plugs and light fixtures. Moving and assisting in the transportation of furniture and equipment. Cleaning the front of buildings includes sweeping and spraying when needed. Garbage collection and bringing garbage to the curbside on garbage removal days. Make arrangements with the Sanitation department to remove special/large items. Snow removal from the front of buildings and on steps, including salting the sidewalk as needed. Maintaining accurate inventory of janitorial supplies and equipment, including receiving and storing deliveries. Pick up and deliver donations to the agency and/or clients as needed. Cover daily responsibilities for any vacancies/absences within the agency. Overseeing extermination of buildings, safe dwellings, and apartments when necessary. Support and comply with the values and policies of the Violence Intervention Program. Attend and participate in regularly scheduled agency and program meetings, including supervision sessions with the Program Manager, case conferences, agency-wide staff meetings, development meetings, and others as needed. Capacity building in all areas of the agency-demonstrating competency with incorporating financial literacy in the performance of their responsibilities. Perform other tasks as required, including any related supervisory and administrative duties as needed. Requirements: Relevant experience required Must have a minimum of two (2) years of previous experience in a maintenance or custodian role. Fully Bilingual Required (English/Spanish verbal and written). Previous experience and knowledge in painting, plastering, wallpaper hanging, removal and installation of commercial tiles, plumbing repair, repairing and maintaining heaters/radiators, and troubleshooting air conditioning systems. Must be able to use efficiently various power and hand tools. Must be able to communicate and follow instructions efficiently and fluently in both written and oral form. Ability to assist moving clients in/out of VIP safe dwelling (Shelter) & SHP (Casa Sandra), incl. heavy lifting (30 lbs.) and travel via public transportation (bus, train, etc.) Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships. Must be knowledgeable in working with diverse communities, particularly Latino, people of color, and low-income populations, and deliver culturally competent services. Must be well organized, assertive, and work independently and collectively while maintaining a flexible schedule. Must have the ability to operate office equipment such as computers, copy machines, fax machines, phone systems, etc. with solid internet and software skills, including Microsoft Office and client database. A flexible schedule is required to meet the clients needs e.g., evenings, weekends Must be able to exercise good judgment and sensitivity at all times. Must ensure agency, program, and client confidentiality at all times. A valid NYS Drivers License a plus. Compensation & Benefits Full-Time, Non-Exempt position, working 35 hours per week with an hourly rate of $24.73/hour. We provide intensive support and services to 3,500+ survivors and children every year and reach 10,000+ community members through community events and preventive education workshops. We are dedicated to developing innovative programs that meet the complex needs of our diverse community and that align with our organizational values. Moriviv Residential Program is a 51 bed scattered site safe dwelling. The goal of this program is to provide short term, emergency shelter for people fleeing domestic violence. Program staff work with each participant to develop an individualized action plan that connects them to support services and helps them secure permanent housing. Supportive services include: counseling, support groups, case management, childrens services, referrals for educational/vocational facilities, job preparation and health promotion for women and children. The Program Manager is responsible for the overall daily operations of the program and the safe dwellings. In addition to acting as VIPs primary coordinator to assure that all efforts are fully met and exceed contractual obligations (programmatic and administrative) and direct the day-to-day activities of risk management, safety/security, maintenance and client move-in/turn-over. The Program Manager is responsible for ensuring 24/7 services to all program participants and may also be called upon for late night and weekend assistance. Essential Functions: Program Management The Program Director will ensure that the program operates in accordance with the guidelines identified by the Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) with the operational guidelines and support of Human Resource Administration (HRA) Manage all contracts to ensure highest degree of program performance and ensure compliance with all state and local laws, policies, regulations and procedures. Create and maintain accurate and comprehensive data including statistical information for reporting purposes as determined by VIP and agency funders; including data on delivery of services and occupancy rates. Supervise staff; facilitate case conferences and trainings to ensure excellent standards and efficiency in the delivery of services to clients. Supervise the development and implementation of supportive programs for victims/survivors of domestic violence. Develop and implement corrective action plans for the program as needed. Develop a network of emergency services and updated staff schedules to ensure efficient delivery of services and 24 hour coverage. Complete regular inspections of all safe dwellings, including fire inspections, and ensure maintenance (emergency and routine repairs, etc.) of all sites. Engage, contract, supervise and approve invoices and expenditures for all goods/services required to maintain facility and support services. Coordinates bids from vendors for necessary property improvements. Continually update operations manual for the program. Maintain complete and accurate property files and records. Responsible for the supervision of all property safety/security measures. Follow-up after program audits or evaluations to improve program performance. Monitor the programs effectiveness in reaching the goals of permanent housing, securing clients employment and establishing family stability Analyze, develop and implement procedures and policies to ensure quality service provision Ensure compliance with all child welfare mandated reporting requirements. Perform other tasks as required, including any related supervisory and administrative duties as needed. Establish formal relationships with Department of Homeless Services, Human Resource Administration, and other domestic violence shelters. Oversee the development and maintenance of linkages with community-based educational, vocational, employment, and support services. Establish linkages with appropriate community agencies for services that benefit shelter residents, to including but not limited to medical, mental health, substance abuse, child welfare. Attend and participate in regularly scheduled agency and program meetings including supervision sessions, case conferences, agency-wide staff meetings, development meetings, etc. Represent the agency at events including task force meetings, committee meetings, community board meetings, conferences, residential coalitions, trainings, workshops, etc. Model the use of Evidence Based Practices (EBP), Trauma Informed Care (TIC) and Motivational Interviewing (MI) Capacity building in all programs of the agency each staff member will demonstrate competency with incorporating financial literacy in the performance of their responsibilities. Assist Human Resource Manager with the recruitment and selection of staff. Orient and train all new staff; including staff development. Supervise volunteer (s) and/or intern (s) Distribute and review appropriate application material to volunteer (s) and/or Intern (s) Determine and prepare volunteer (s) and/or intern (s) daily, weekly, or monthly schedules Oversee and coordinate volunteer (s) and/or intern (s) in providing VIP participants with direct services and support Qualifications: Commitment to VIPs mission, vision and values Masters degree in social work, human services or comparable degrees; License preferred A minimum of two years of experience managing, coordinating and developing programs including directly supervising direct, social workers, case managers and/or direct service staff. Program Overview The Economic Justice Program (EJP) assists participants in strengthening their economic well-being and achieving long-term economic stability. EJP specializes in promoting economic security among people who are not part of the traditional workforce and who are survivors of intimate partner and/or sexual violence.Through trauma-informed financial literacy, business development, and digital literacy education, EJP provides participants with the tools to break cycles of violence and poverty regardless of immigration status, trauma history, or language barriers. VIP is expanding its existing business development workshops to include digital literacy topics and developing the Artesanando Cohort, a group of Latina survivor-entrepreneurs who will receive intensive coaching, mentorship, and technical assistance as they create an online marketplace to sell their products and services. Position Summary The Economic Justice Advocate provides culturally specific, trauma-informed supportive services to promote economic independence and long-term stability for survivors of intimate partner and sexual violence. This role focuses on coaching, facilitation, and training to support immigrant and Latinx survivors in developing small businesses, accessing financial tools, and building collective economic power. The ideal candidate brings a deep commitment to social justice, an understanding of intersectional experiences of oppression, and strong digital and entrepreneurial skills to support survivors in navigating pathways toward financial autonomy. Key Responsibilities Support the development and implementation of projects, services, and direct actions that increase economic security for survivors. Assess financial, educational, and vocational goals for all participants and provide coaching to achieve those goals. Develop and facilitate workshops on financial literacy, workforce development, business creation, and digital literacy,including e-commerce/online sales platforms (Shopify, Etsy), and social media marketing. Co-facilitate the Artesanando Cohort, providing individualized coaching to participants focused on business growth, online branding, and income diversification. Collaborate with web designers and marketing consultants to support the creation and maintenance of the Artesanando online marketplace, ensuring participants learn e-commerce, graphic design, and photography skills. Track participant progress using measurable indicators to ensure compliance with funder reporting requirements.
