The Violence Intervention Program, Inc. (VIP) is the only culturally specific non-profit organization in New York City serving Latinx survivors of domestic and sexual violence, the vast majority of whom are immigrants. Founded as a grassroots response to intimate partner violence and sexual assault, VIP has consistently centered survivors in its leadership and fostered a staff community that reflects the rich national, ethnic, and racial diversity of the communities it serves. Today, VIP operates two community-based programs serving the Bronx, Manhattan, and Queens; four housing programs, including two shelters, Rapid Re-Housing, and Home+; a bilingual helpline; and innovative programs focused on economic justice, sexual violence, restorative justice, and child and adolescent services.
The Home + Case Manager will help the Home+ program which is designed to support non-residential domestic violence programs expand their menu of options to enhance the ability of survivors to stay safer in their homes. Orders of protection, police reports or other agency or system involvement are not required for clients to be eligible for any of the services in the Home+ program. Home+ will serve survivors of domestic violence who are new or existing clients at VIP, as well as through referrals from other agencies and organizations, including, but not limited to, the Mayors Office to End Domestic and Gender-Based Violence (ENDGBV) NYC Family Justice Centers and community-based organizations
Essential Functions:
Conduct initial needs assessments on all clients and their children to identify needs and goals during the initial intake and reevaluate as necessary
Provide intensive case management services based on the program participant (s) needs/goals and service plan, including weekly (scheduled) case management sessions
Coordinate referral processes and forms to identify clients who need Home+ services, and deliver or coordinate Home+ services with Home+ coordinator.
Conduct follow up of Personal Emergency Response System (PERS) installations
Conduct follow upof Home safety repairs (e.g. window, lock, door changes or repairs)
Coordinate Personal Emergency Response System (PERS) installations

Provide referrals to supportive services
Keep timely documentation of all Response Alert security system alarm activations for the growing Home+ clientele
Serve as a liaison between the client and the City-contracted PERS vendor(s) and home safety repair vendor(s) to coordinate services for the client and troubleshoot, as appropriate.
In collaboration with ENDGBV, support the delivery of trainings at least twice per year, to the City-contracted PERS vendor(s) and home safety repair vendor(s) on domestic violence related topics, including but not limited to, Domestic Violence 101 and trauma-informed practices.
Conduct a minimum of 12 total diverse outreach efforts per year within VIP, across VIP partner networks, and/or with the NYC Family Justice Centers to enhance awareness of Home+ and increase referrals.
Collect data, as agreed upon with HRA and ENDGBV, and provide it on a monthly basis to HRA and ENDGBV.
Collaborate with City-identified researchers to collect and share data in a timely fashion for evaluation purposes.
Maintain proper documentation (case notes, reports and statistical information) in a timely manner for all clients.
Consistently assess the safety of clients to ensure their security, and that of their children; and create safety plans as needed.
Work collaboratively with staff and other service providers on a consistent basis to ensure the highest quality service delivery.
Adhere to mandated reporting requirements as they relate to such issues as child abuse/neglect, suicide/homicide concerns, etc.
Attend and participate in regularly scheduled agency and program meeting including supervision sessions, trainings, case conferences, agency-wide staff meetings, team meetings, inter-disciplinary meetings, etc.
Conduct community outreach and /or educational workshops as needed by program.
Represent VIP at conferences, community meetings and special events; including Promoting VIP services at all public functions.
Report Language access issues as they occur to Associate Director of Community Programs.
Perform other tasks as required, including any related administrative duties as needed.
Requirements:
BSW, BA or equivalent relevant experience in the field of human services
Fully Bilingual Required (English/Spanish verbal and written).
Must have advocacy and/or counseling experience in the area of domestic violence, women and childrens issues, or related field.
Strong verbal and written communication and documenting skills.
Must be well-organized, work independently and collectively, while maintaining a flexible schedule.
Must be knowledgeable in working with diverse communities, particularly Latinx, people of color, and low-income populations and deliver culturally competent services.
Must have the ability to operate office equipment such as computers, copy machine, fax machine, phone systems, etc. with strong internet and software skills; incl. Microsoft Office and client database.
Must be able to exercise good judgment, compassion, and sensitivity at all times to provide trauma-informed care.
Must ensure agency, program and client confidentiality at all times.
Must work well with a team and bring self-awareness and accountability to the workplace.
Must be passionate about intersectional social justice issues impacting survivors of trauma.
Compensation & Benefits
Full-time, non-exempt position, working 35 hours per week with a pay rate of $55,000/year.

The Community Educatorplays an important role in the organizations community engagement strategy by deepening local communities understanding of the root causes and impacts of domestic and sexual violence. The Community Educator develops prevention education curriculum, updates and facilitates engaging bilingual workshops for adults, youth and service providers that address the way individual, relationship, community, and societal factors impact interpersonal violence and aim to prevent violence before it occurs. They develop and sustain thriving partnerships with community-based organizations and educational institutions, particularly those with high numbers of Latinx immigrant youth, to maximize VIPs reach within our target community. The Community Educator works closely with the other members of the Community Engagement Team and other VIP program teams to ensure that all educational materials reflect VIP values, are informed by our in-house counseling practices, and align with our external messaging strategy. Additionally, they partner with Data Team to implement pre- and post-surveys and track the impact of trainings and workshops. The Community Educator is part of VIPs dynamic Community Engagement Program and reports to the Program Manager.
Essential Functions
Design, develop and update VIPs bilingual trainings, workshops and informational presentations;
Conduct preventive education workshops on domestic and sexual violence in both English and Spanish for youth and adult community members, social service providers, and other stakeholders;
Collaborate with Community Engagement Program colleagues to align all content and materials for consistent, powerful messaging;
Collaborate with Community Organizer and Promotoras team to support their leadership and promote their community-based events and campaigns;
Establish and maintain linkages with educational and community-based partners to maximize our impact and to deepen and expand partnerships;
Coordinate VIP participation at coalitions and in collaborative partnerships with other city and social service organizations and agencies to track communities where we have presence and strategically identify locations for increased engagement
Ensure all presentation, training and workshop materials are regularly updated for consistent, aligned and accurate messaging and accessible to all VIP staff;
Collaborate with Promotoras on workshops and other community engagement opportunities;
Collaborate with Data Team to develop tools, collect and analyze data, and participate in ongoing program evaluation;
Prepare internal quarterly performance reports to share with team, VIP leadership, and other stakeholders;
Represent VIP at external meetings and events, as needed;
Participate in supervision, staff meetings and program meetings;
Perform other tasks as required, including any related supervisory and administrative duties, as needed.
Requirements
Bachelors degree in education, public speaking, communications, critical race and/or gender studies, or 3+ years of relevant community engagement experience and/or training and presentation experience
Must be Bilingual in English and Spanish, both verbal and written fluency;

Home+/ Home Plus play a critical role in supporting survivors of domestic violence by helping them remain safely in their homes and access essential emergency supports. This position combines the responsibilities of the HOME+ Case Manager + all Emergency Assistance with management of flex funds, food vouchers, and emergency assistance navigation.
The Program Assistant provides management, coordinates home safety interventions (e.g.,, lock changes, security systems), manages applications and disbursement for emergency funds, and connects clients to additional supportive services. Today, VIP operates two community-based programs serving the Bronx, Manhattan, and Queens; four housing programs, including two shelters, Rapid Re-Housing, and Home+; a bilingual helpline; and innovative programs focused on economic justice, sexual violence, restorative justice, and child and adolescent services.
Housing Specialist will provide program participants with safe, long-term housing and supportive services to assist them in becoming self-sufficient and free from violence. In addition, the Housing Specialist will provide supportive services that include: case management, educational/vocational workshops, public benefits coordination, financial planning, and leadership development. The goal of this program is for each participant to achieve economic self-sufficiency, educational/vocational attainment and to move them towards permanent housing.
Essential Functions
Perform telephone screening to identify potential participants.
Conduct intake assessment on all program participants to identify needs and create/discuss safety plans.
Provide information and referrals; advocacy and accompaniment as it relates to housing and public benefits. This includes over the phone, in person and via written correspondence in a timely manner.
Consistently assess the safety of clients to ensure their security, and that of their children; and create safety plans as needed.
Work collaboratively with staff and other service providers on a consistent basis to ensure the highest quality service delivery.
Adhere to mandated reporting requirements as they relate to such issues as child abuse/neglect, suicide/homicide concerns, etc.
Attend and participate in regularly scheduled agency and program meeting including supervision sessions, trainings, case conferences, agency-wide staff meetings, team meetings, inter-disciplinary meetings, etc.
Conduct community outreach and /or educational workshops as needed by program.
Represent VIP at conferences, community meetings and special events; including Promoting VIP services at all public functions.
Report Language access issues as they occur to Associate Director of Community Programs.
Perform other tasks as required, including any related administrative duties as needed.
Housing & Public Benefits Functions
Assist program participants with completing housing applications (i.e. NYCHA Public Housing; Affordable Housing and/or private housing)
Advocate on behalf of clients regarding housing court issues, emergency transfers, applying for public benefits etc.
Stay informed and provide information to clients regarding local, state and federal programs that provide rental arrears and assistance
Participate and advocate in policy discussions about housing and public benefit rights and assist in local and state lobbying efforts including participating in round tables.
Network with realtors in various communities and accessing their ability to work with program participants
Conduct groups on housing resources, issues, etc.
Research low-income housing and maintaining a current resource directory
Data Collection & Entry
Accurately record all required information that will be pertinent to identified outcomes
Collect and analyze data to enhance service delivery for the purpose of achieving outcomes
Make recommendations for improvement or enhancement to data processes to ensure standards in data entry, collection, and retrieval are achieved
Requirements
BSW, BA or equivalent relevant experience in the field of human services
Bilingual Required (English/Spanish - verbal and written).
Must have advocacy and/or counseling experience in the area of domestic violence, women and children's issues, or related field.
Strong verbal and written communication and documenting skills.
Must be well organized, work independently and collectively, while maintaining a flexible schedule.
Must be knowledgeable in working with diverse communities, particularly Latinx, people of color, and low-income populations and deliver culturally competent services.
Must have the ability to operate office equipment such as computers, copy machine, fax machine, phone systems, etc. with strong internet and software skills; incl. Microsoft Office and client database.
Must be able to exercise good judgment, compassion, and sensitivity at all times to provide trauma-informed care.
Must ensure agency, program and client confidentiality at all times.
Must work well with a team and bring self-awareness and accountability to the workplace.
Must be passionate about intersectional social justice issues impacting survivors of trauma.
Compensation & Benefits
Full-time, non-exempt position, working 35 hours per week with annual wages of $57,500/year.
We cover 85% of the cost of medical (United Healthcare/Oxford), dental and vision coverage (MetLife). FSA/HSA available.

The Violence Intervention Program, Inc. (VIP) is the only culturally specific non-profit organization in New York City serving Latinx survivors of domestic and sexual violence, the vast majority of whom are immigrants. Founded as a grassroots response to intimate partner violence and sexual assault, VIP has consistently centered survivors in its leadership and fostered a staff community that reflects the rich national, ethnic, and racial diversity of the communities it serves. The Counselor Advocate provides crisis intervention and self-empowerment counseling in both individual and group settings to survivors of gender-based violence. The role also delivers direct services, including holistic case assessment, case management, and advocacy across criminal legal, social welfare, housing, immigration, and other related systems.
Essential Functions:
Conduct initial needs assessments on all clients and their children to identify needs and goals during the initial intake and reevaluate as necessary.
Provide intensive case management services based on the program participant (s) needs/goals and service plan, including weekly (scheduled) case management sessions.
Provide personal support for the families, including but not limited to translation and accompaniment services as it relates to public assistance and housing. School/education placement, health service, etc. Including assistance in the various unforeseen needs of the participant.
Provide information and referrals; advocacy and accompaniment to participants throughout the legal, immigration, social, and human resources systems. This includes over the phone, in-person, and through written correspondence promptly.
Assist participants with educational needs by advocating for tutoring services, school placement, parent/teacher/child involvement, and medical services.
Stay abreast of changes in entitlements and benefit resources and systems for information and referrals, advocacy and accompaniment as to secure needed services.
Maintain proper documentation (case notes, reports, and statistical information) on time for all clients.
Develop service plans with measurable outcomes and services identified by the program and funding source in a timely fashion. Include accurate information about participants' outcomes and services to inform their counseling plan.
Consistently assess clients' safety to ensure their security and that of their children, as their situation may shift with changing conditions. Create a safety plan as needed.
Provide crisis and promote self-esteem/motivation to participants, including identifying and providing referrals to outside therapeutic services as needed.
Validate, support, and encourage strength-based counseling with a focus on personal wellness and independence as identified.
Work with age-appropriate clients on an ongoing basis around the issues of conflict resolution, separation, diversity issues (including cultural, religious, and sexual orientation issues), etc.
Provide interventions that promote positive relationships between clients, parents, their community, various institutions, and schools to enhance the positive development of clients.
Facilitate weekly, monthly, and/or bi-monthly age-appropriate bi-lingual support groups.
Provide counseling, case management, and collaborate with multi-disciplinary service providers and law enforcement weekly to provide wraparound services for walk-in clients at the Family Justice Center.
Work collaboratively with staff and other service providers consistently to ensure the highest quality service delivery.
