Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia's capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. Reynolds seeks an Events and Audio Visual Support Specialist to provide technical support for college events, classrooms, and meeting spaces by operating, maintaining, and supporting audio-visual systems. This position is responsible for event AV support, classroom AV system maintenance, and internally managed AV installations. The role also provides escalated AV technical support and may assist with basic information technology (IT) support functions as needed.
This position works collaboratively with the supervisor, Events team, and IT Services to ensure reliable, high-quality AV and technology support that meets instructional, operational, and event needs of the College.
Key Responsibilities
Event and On-Site AV Support
* Provides on-site technical support for college events utilizing audio-visual systems.
* Works with the supervisor and Events team to ensure adequate AV and IT coverage for scheduled events.
* Performs AV setup, operation, troubleshooting, video streaming, and recording for events and meetings.
AV and Classroom Technical Support
* Provides technical support for AV systems as directed by the supervisor.
* Responds to classroom AV support needs and escalated AV-related IT support tickets.
* Assists with the creation and delivery of AV training for faculty and staff, as assigned.
Preventive Maintenance and System Support
* Performs routine and preventive maintenance on classroom and campus AV systems.
* Conducts complete classroom AV system checks and testing.
* Cleans projector filters and performs software and firmware updates on AV equipment.
* Tests, patches, upgrades, and maintains AV spaces to ensure operational readiness.
AV Installation and Projects
* Performs AV installations that can be managed internally, including:
* TV and monitor mounting
* Projector installation
* Cabling and equipment mounting
* Basic AV system programming and configuration
* Assists with AV-related projects and new installations under the direction of the supervisor.
Additional IT Support
* Provides basic IT support functions as directed by the supervisor, including assistance with hardware, software, or peripheral devices.
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
* Working knowledge of the installation, repair, upgrade, and general maintenance of audio-visual systems and computer hardware.
* Considerable knowledge of troubleshooting methods and procedures and the use of hardware and software diagnostic tools.
* Understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP.
* Working knowledge of audio-visual systems and end-user support.
* Understanding of current Windows operating systems and Microsoft products.
* Ability to provide efficient and effective customer service through clear written and verbal communication.

The Legislative Analyst plans and implements a program of comprehensive analytical communications that assists the Associate Vice Chancellor for Governmental Relations in recommending, and responding to, policies, procedures, legislation and regulations at both the state and national governmental level, in both agencies and in applicable legislative bodies.
This position works with the Associate Vice Chancellor, the Chancellor's Cabinet, college legislative officers and presidents in gathering and presenting legislative information that allows Virginia's Community Colleges to take advantage of legislative environment and opportunities. The position also interacts as necessary or directed with other agencies, including the State Council for Higher Education, and staff members of Virginia's legislative bodies both at the state and national level.
The position is responsible for independently seeking out information on legislation proposed at the state level, determining if it impacts Virginia's Community Colleges, and analyzing and tracking legislation, maintaining committee calendars and bill lists, and doing research as necessary to enhance the agency's understanding of legislative and policy proposals. The position will present results of legislative tracking as frequently as necessary. The position is also responsible for assisting the Associate Vice Chancellor in developing an expanded program of federal legislative tracking.

Develop strategies for threat/vulnerability analyses to determine the probable frequency and severity of natural and man-made disasters and criminal activity on the organization's ability to deliver services;

Application/System Administration
Oversee and manage the design, development, and maintenance on all components of assigned systems in ABS departmental enterprise systems, including overall system functionality, forms, reporting, interfaces/integrations, and other modules;
Responsible for operations and performance of assigned applications and systems;
Ensure compliance with industry standards of assigned applications and systems;
Ensure development of technical design and documentation of application dependent data conversions, interfaces, custom reporting, and custom applications in adherence to SDLC best practices;
Provide support and guidance to internal customers during application development and post deployment;
Manage and mentor full-time employees and student staff in developing skills necessary to develop and maintain applications and systems;
Participate and help manage an on-call rotation for after hour, critical, system-wide outages and emergencies and work with appropriate staff to resolve issues; and

Documentation and Policy
Lead IT team in development and practice of documentation standards for documenting applications, systems, and procedures;
Ensure documentation compliance for all processes and procedures for operational processes as well as technical ones;
Ensure access and permissions are correct for systems and that all systems are within compliance of local, state, industry, and University guidelines;
Develop standard operating procedures around the security and management of systems, including a robust policy for patching systems;
Ensure that risk analysis, business impact, and continuity documentation is created and maintained for all ABS applications and systems;
Ensure timely and accurate response to auditing requests; and
Ensure that all staff is trained on GMU computing policies.
Infrastructure/Systems Oversight
Continual monitoring of critical infrastructure systems to ensure proper operation of supported systems;
Monitoring of all systems to ensure proper operation;
Collect daily information on any system issues or anomalies and properly respond to them and notify where appropriate;
Continuous optimization of systems to ensure peak performance;
Ensure all underlying platforms and methods can meet the daily needs of our applications and mission;
Maintain records on all systems and generate reports as needed; and
Ensure compliance of all systems for any audits.
Risk Assessment
Select, design, implement, and manage card access security measures to reduce risk;
Conduct physical security walk throughs to ensure proper security and integrity of space;
Assess the effectiveness of the security measures by testing and monitoring;
Provide supervision and guidance to regarding new technologies and ensure proper deployment; and
Conduct system reviews to ensure security and stability.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience;
Demonstrated experience managing IT projects. This includes project planning, resource leveling, cost/budget planning, and scope management;
Demonstrated experience in SQL Server database, including application development;
Demonstrated experience in Windows desktop and server environments;
Demonstrated experience as an IT manager with a focus on customer service experience;
Knowledge of best practices in IT management;
Knowledge of electronic and mechanical access control systems;
Knowledge of best practices for physical security;
Knowledge of integration techniques and processes;
Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills;
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills;

General Information:
The College of Science and Mathematics (CSM) at James Madison University (JMU) is accepting applications for the role of Grant Administrator. This position will serve the overall mission of JMU and the CSM by providing support to faculty and student research programs within the department of Biology (BIO) and support for Chemistry and Biochemistry (CBC), Physics and Astronomy (P&A), Geology and Environmental Science (GES), and Math and Statistics (M&S). The Grant Administrator will be responsible for purchasing and travel functions for grants awarded by the Office of Sponsored Programs to CSM Principal Investigators (PIs), while adhering to State and Agency rules, regulations, and guidelines.
The mission of the CSM is to establish a culture of "discovery practice," in which students develop their knowledge, skills and habits by participating in science and mathematics practice. We place undergraduate student learning at the center of a rigorous research-based environment. Within the departments of BIO, CBC, P&A, GES, and M&S, we have over 30 active research grants, with over 100 faculty members and their student researchers. The Grant Administrator will be important to the success of these programs. This full-time position is potentially telework eligible for up to two days per week. This is a position funded by University grant proceeds.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Aid principal investigators (PIs) with the business aspects of the grants they have received including purchases, travel, and other expenditures.
Collaborate with relevant CSM departments, Office of Sponsored Programs, and other JMU administrative units to successfully manage research award grants and project budgets.
Perform monthly account reconciliations and communicate status to PIs.
Oversee vendor payments, purchase orders, corporate card purchases.
Process travel for faculty and students related to research activities.
Assist with the preparation of budgets, budget justifications, and revisions.
Ensure compliance with state, federal, and other sponsor requirements for documentation and record retention.
Perform account oversight and financial management activities: resolving fiscal variances, cost transfers, post-award modifications, reconciling invoices, and completing account closeouts.

Event Planning and Special Projects Graduate Assistantship
The School of Professional & Continuing Education (SPCE) seeks a highly motivated and detail-oriented Graduate Assistant to support the planning and execution of special events, special projects, and fundraising initiatives. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in event management, project coordination, and fundraising activities within a dynamic and innovative academic environment. The Graduate Assistant will work closely with the Dean and key members of the SPCE leadership team to support high-visibility initiatives that advance the mission and impact of the unit.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in planning, organizing, and executing a variety of SPCE events, including receptions, donor gatherings, strategic planning sessions, and community engagement activities.
* Coordinate logistics such as space reservations, catering, communications, and materials for events and initiatives.
* Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure seamless execution of programs and events.
* Contribute to marketing and communications efforts for events and initiatives, including drafting content and assisting with promotional strategies.
* Provide project management support for strategic initiatives, ensuring timelines, tasks, and deliverables are met.
* Support fundraising and development efforts including stewardship activities.
* Provide administrative and logistical support to the Dean and other SPCE leadership as needed.
Qualifications:

* Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a professional environment.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with project management tools is a plus.
* Experience and/or interest in event planning, project coordination, fundraising, or related fields.
* Attention to detail, creativity, and a proactive, problem-solving mindset.

Students may apply to a graduate assistantship prior to being accepted into a graduate program. However, to be eligible to receive an assistantship upon entry into a graduate program, the following criteria must be met:
The student must be conditionally or unconditionally accepted into a graduate program. Students who are provisionally accepted will not be eligible until they achieve conditional or unconditional acceptance into their program.
The students must have an official transcript on file indicating completion of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution or agency
After receiving an assistantship, the student must maintain at least a 3.0 graduate GPA in order to retain or reapply for the assistantship.
These are minimum criteria. Graduate program coordinators have the right to impose additional criteria if they see fit.

Adjunct Faculty - Applied Music Lesson Instructors QUALIFICATIONS: Masters degree required for non-applied lesson courses. Professional industry experience can be considered for applied lesson instructors. Candidates may apply to teach more than one course.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Private lesson music instructors will teach 13 lessons in their instrument area over the course of the semester.
