Child Food and Nutrition Program Coordinator

The Child and Nutrition Program Coordinator is responsible for the overall management and operations of the Child Care Food Program and Summer Breakfast program for the five (5) county service area of the YMCA of Florida's First Coast, as well as our non-food program sites. This position is grant funded and must complete a funding renewal process annually.

1. Leads, oversees, and coordinates the daily operations of the food programs.
2. Manages the monthly claim process for reimbursement.

* Junior Counselors in a cabin must be at least 17 years of age and have completed the Counselor in Training Camp Program.

* Must obtain CPR, First Aid, AED certifications prior to working with children in a camp setting. These courses will be offered as a part of onboarding during staff training.
* Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.

Essential Functions: * Maintains constant surveillance of the pool area. * Knows/reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Completes related reports as required. * Maintains effective relationships with the members, participants and other staff.
* Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area.
* Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state Health Department code.
* Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed.
* Checks the pool for hazardous conditions when arriving.
* Performs chemical testing at appropriate times of the day, as required, and takes appropriate action.
* Attends all staff meetings and training as required.
* Ensures all First Coast YMCA standards and best practices are implemented and followed.
* Applies YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to best practices, emergency procedures, medical and disciplinary situations and child abuse prevention.
* Ensures the health and safety of all members/guests.
* Inspect physical space to ensure the safety, orderliness, sanitation and cleanliness of facilities.

* Swim 50 yards(2 laps) of each stroke-Front crawl with head up, sidestroke, breaststroke, breaststroke with head up, elementary backstroke kick with hands on chest.
* Perform a feet first surface dive in 6-7 feet of water, then swim underwater for 15 feet

Qualifications:
* Minimum age of 16. 18 or older preferred
* Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, O2, First Aid certification.
* Current YMCA Lifeguarding Certification.
* Ability to maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness.
* Must demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
Physical Demands:
* Ability to pass lifeguard water test.
* Must be able to remain alert.
* Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods.
* Adequate ability to hear noises and distinguish distress signals.
* Ability to continuously scan all areas of the pool with clear vision.
* Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks necessary for a water rescue.
* Ability to communicate verbally, including projecting voice across distance in normal and loud situations.
